 A Red Hot Chili Peppers 140 millió dollárért adja el dalai katalógusát a Hipgnosis Songsnak – értesült a Variety.com hollywoodi hírportál.
 Az 1982-ben alakult együttes eladott számai között szerepel mások mellett az Under the Bridge, a Give It Away, a Dani California és a Knock Me Down című dal.
A banda dobosa, Chad Smith a közelmúltban azt is elárulta, hogy éppen egy új albumon dolgoznak.
A Red Hot Chili Peppers számainak zömét 1989 óta az együttes tagjai, Anthony Kiedis, a basszusgitáros Flea, a dobos Chad Smith és a gitáros John Frusciante írta. Az ágazati források szerint az együttes katalógusa a kiadójuknak 5-6 millió dollár (1,5-1,8 milliárd forint) nettó részesedést termel.
A Hipgnosis Songs Fund nevű cég 2018-ban kifejezetten arra alapult, hogy katalógusok jogait vásárolja fel. A zeneipar történetében példátlan katalógusfelvásárlási hullámot indított. Az év elején mindössze két hét alatt megszerezte Neil Young katalógusának felét, valamint a Fleetwood Macből ismert Lindsey Buckingham, a producer Jimmy Iovine és Shakira katalógusát. Korábban már hozzá került a Timbaland, Chrissie Hynde, a Wu-Tang Clan RZA-ja, a Blondie, Barry Manilow, Jeff Bhasker és még sokan mások.
