 A Wilbur Ross kereskedelmi miniszter által aláírt közlemény az adatszolgáltatási megállapodást kulcsfontosságú mechanizmusnak nevezve fejezte ki az amerikai kormányzat „mély csalódottságát”.
 A tárcavezető leszögezte, hogy Washington részletesen tanulmányozni fogja a döntést, hogy jobban megértse annak konkrét következményeit. Ross hangsúlyozta, hogy az Egyesült Államok a továbbiakban is együttműködik az Európai Bizottsággal. „Reméljük, hogy korlátozni tudjuk a negatív következményeket az állampolgáraink, vállalataink és kormányzataink számára életfontosságú transzatlanti gazdasági kapcsolatokra nézve” – fogalmazott közleményében.
 Az Európai Unió Bírósága csütörtökön érvénytelenítette az Egyesült Államokkal a személyes adatok átadásáról kötött megállapodást. A Facebook közösségi portált érintő ítéletében a luxembourgi székhelyű uniós testület a többi között kimondta, hogy az amerikai adatvédelmi szabályozás elégtelen, s emiatt szigorúbb intézkedésekre van szükség az európai felhasználói adatok továbbítását illetően.
 Didier Reynders, az Európai Bizottság igazságügyi biztosa Brüsszelben – szintén még csütörtökön – sajtótájékoztatón reagált a bírósági döntésre. Hangsúlyozta, hogy az Európai Bizottság tanulmányozza a bírósági döntést, és azonnal felveszi a kapcsolatot az amerikai partnerekkel egy új, megerősített és tartós adatvédelmi mechanizmus kidolgozása érdekében.
