Egy három eszközt szállító műholdhordozó rakétát bocsátott fel Irán a világűrbe – közölte az iráni állami televízió csütörtökön.
A televízió idézte Ahmad Hoszeinit, a védelmi minisztérium szóvivőjét, aki azt mondta, hogy Szimorg típusú rakétát bocsátottak fel, amely három eszközt vitt magával. A szóvivő szerint kutatásra alkalmas eszközökről van szó.
A Szimorg (amely fárszi nyelven főnixet jelent) kétfokozatú hordozórakéta, amelyről Irán először 2010-ben tett bejelentést.
A mostani bejelentés arról nem szólt, hogy honnan indították a rakétát, és milyen eszközöket helyeztek el a hordozóban.
A korábbi indításokat az Egyesült Államok rendszerint bírálta.
Az iráni állami média nyilvánosságra hozott egy listát az iszlám köztársaság polgári űrprogramjának keretében tervezett műholdfelbocsátásokról. Korábban többször előfordult, hogy ezek az indítások kudarcba fulladtak.
A Forradalmi Gárdának egy másik program keretében tavaly sikerült Föld körüli pályára állítania műholdat.
Eközben Bécsben tárgyalások zajlanak a 2015-ös atomalku megmentéséről, amelyeken Irán mellett Oroszország, Kína, Franciaország, Nagy-Britannia és Németország képviselői közvetlenül, az Egyesült Államok megbízottjai pedig közvetetten vesznek részt.

Egy 54 éves rakéta, nem pedig aszteroida a Föld körül ideiglenesen keringő titokzatos objektum – erősítették meg amerikai csillagászok.
A Hawaiin lévő teleszkóp megfigyelései révén sikerült azonosítani az objektumot – közölte a NASA bolygókutató intézete, a kaliforniai Pasadenában lévő Jet Propulsion Laboratory szerdán.
Szeptemberi észlelésekor aszteroidaként azonosították az égitestet, Paul Chodas, a NASA aszteroidaszakértője azonban azt gyanította, hogy az 1966-os sikertelen holdmisszió, a Surveyor-2 űrszondájának felső Centaur rakétafokozata. A leszállóegység belecsapódott a Holdba, a rakéta azonban elhaladt az égitest mellett és Nap körüli pályára állt űrszemétként.
Chodas sejtését Vishnu Reddy, az Arizonai Egyetem szakértője vezette kutatócsoport a hawaii infravörös teleszkóp segítségével igazolta.
Munkájuk nyomán nemcsak a titokzatos objektumot sikerült alaposabban megvizsgálni, de egy 1971 óta a Föld körül keringő másik Centaur rakétát is.
Az eredmény óriási csapatmunka eredménye. Végre sikerült megoldanunk a rejtélyt – mondta el Reddy.
A hivatalosan 2020 SO jelzésű, nagyjából 8 méteres objektumot szeptemberben észlelte egy hawaii teleszkóp. A méretei megegyeznek a Centauréval, amely kevesebb mint 10 méter hosszú és 3 méter átmérőjű lehet.
Chodas figyelmét egyebek között az keltette fel, hogy az objektum csaknem köralakú pályán kering a Nap körül, ami szokatlan az aszteroidáknál, valamint a kisbolygókra jellemzőnél kisebb sebességgel közelít a Föld felé.
Chodas előrejelzése szerint az objektum nagyjából négy hónapig fog keringeni a Föld körül, miután a bolygó gravitációs csapdájába került november közepén, majd márciusban ismét visszaáll saját pályájára a Nap körül. A becslések szerint 2036-ban tér vissza.
