Az Eutelsat Communications francia műholdüzemeltető közölte, hogy egyre intenzívebbé válnak a tárgyalásai az Európai Unióval az Elon Musk-féle Starlink műholdas kommunikációs szolgáltatásának leváltásáról.
Elon Musk az űrből küldi az ukránoknak – mondta Eva Berneke, az Eutelsat vezérigazgatója a Bloomberg TV-nek adott interjújában.
Hozzátette, hogy a francia vállalat már jelen van és több ezer terminállal rendelkezik Ukrajnában, ám ez még nem elegendő a szolgáltatás átvételéhez.
A cégnek néhány hónapra lenne szüksége ahhoz, hogy 40 ezer terminált biztosítson. Most ugyanis nagyjából ennyi Starlink terminált használnak az országban.
A Starlink azután vált az ukrán hadsereg nélkülözhetetlen szolgáltatójává az Oroszországgal vívott hároméves háborúban, hogy az ország kommunikációs infrastruktúrájának nagy része megsemmisült.
Bár Ukrajna Starlink-termináljai közül sokat Európa finanszíroz, a Washington és Kijev közötti feszült kapcsolatok miatt félő, hogy a kommunikációs szolgáltatás megszakadhat.
Az Eutelsatnak pénzügyi és logisztikai támogatásra lenne szüksége ahhoz, hogy gyorsan növelni tudja az ukrajnai terminálok számát – jelezte Berneke.

Az ukrán mobiltelefon-szolgáltató, a Kyivstar anyavállalata, a VEON, megállapodást kötött az amerikai milliárdos Elon Musk Starlink cégével a Direct to Cell technológia bevezetéséről Ukrajnában.
A Direct to Cell szolgáltatás lehetővé teszi a mobiltelefonok számára, hogy 4G hálózaton keresztül műholdas jelet használjanak ott, ahol nincs hagyományos mobilhálózati lefedettség, vagy ha a hálózat működése megszakad például háborús vagy technológiai okok miatt.
A Kyivstar várhatóan 2025 negyedik negyedévében indítja el a Direct to Cell szolgáltatást, amely először SMS- és OTT-üzenetek küldését fogja támogatni. Később a szolgáltatásba beépítik a hanghívásokat és az adatátvitelt is.

Az Európai Unió 10,6 milliárd eurót fektet be saját műholdas hálózata létrehozásába, amely biztosítja a titkosított globális internetkapcsolatot. Az IRIS2 projekt Európa alternatívájaként szolgál majd Elon Musk Starlink rendszerével szemben.
A Bloomberg szerint az IRIS2 egy többpályás műholdas hálózat lesz, amely 290 műholdat tartalmaz, és várhatóan 2030-ig elindítják. A rendszer elsősorban az EU kormányainak, katonai egységeinek és magánszemélyeknek fog szolgáltatásokat nyújtani. A műholdak biztosítják Európa szuverenitását a kommunikáció terén, különösen a Starlink katonai műveletekben való növekvő szerepe miatt.
A projekt finanszírozása a következőképpen oszlik meg: az EU 6 milliárd eurót biztosít, a magáncégek 4,1 milliárd eurót, míg az Európai Űrügynökség 550 millió euróval járul hozzá. A szerződés 12 évre szól, és a finanszírozás egy része az EU tagállamok jóváhagyásától függ.

A SpaceX céget szerződéses megbízásban részesítette az Egyesült Államok Védelmi Minisztériuma, hogy bővítse Ukrajna hozzáférését a Starshieldhez, ami biztonságosabb és militarizált verziója a Starlink műholdas hálózatnak. November 18-án az amerikai SpaceX cég felbocsátotta a következő 20 darab Starlink internetes műholdat. A hírt a Space.com közölte.
Hétfőn, kijevi idő szerint 07:53-kor indult a kaliforniai Vandenberg légibázisról egy Falcon 9 rakéta, amely húsz Starlink műholdat szállít, amelyek közül 13 rendelkezik közvetlen kommunikációs funkcióval.
A SpaceX hangsúlyozza, hogy ez volt a 20. kilövése és leszállása ennek a hordozórakétának. E repülések közül tizenhármat Starlink műholdak felbocsátására hajtottak végre.
2024-ben a SpaceX több mint száz Falcon 9 küldetést indított az űrbe, ezeknek körülbelül kétharmadát a Starlink műholdhálózat kiépítésére szánták.

A szakértők megjegyzik, hogy az ellenség már kísérletezett a 4G modemekkel ukrán SIM-kártyákkal, így a Starlink használata csak idő kérdése volt.
