A nagyközönség előtt megnyílt Bird Paradise több mint 400 faj több mint 3500 egyedének ad otthont, köztük kihalás fenyegette fajok tucatjainak.
A madarak többsége az egyórányi autóútra fekvő híres Jurong Madárparkból került ide, amely 52 év után januárban zárt be. Szakértők egy egész éven át dolgoztak olyan stratégiákon, amelyek segítségével biztonságosan és stresszmentesen hajthatják végre az eltérő szükségletű madarak átköltöztetéséhez szükséges gigantikus akciót.
Az új madárparadicsomban a látogatók nem csupán megcsodálhatják röpdéjükben a sokféle színpompás egzotikus madarat, de különleges programokat, bemutatókat is rendeznek számukra, például maraburöptetést, papagájetetést vagy beszélgetést az állatgondozókkal.
A Mangai rezervátumban épült létesítmény egyik fő attrakciója egy ultramodern, többszintes pingvinélőhely.
Az első napon, hétfőn mintegy 3000 érdeklődő által felkeresett madárpark egyelőre csak 75 százalékos látogatói kapacitással működik, hogy ne okozzanak túl nagy stresszt a madaraknak, amelyeknek részben még amúgy is szokniuk kell új környezetüket. Teljes kapacitással május 26-tól működik a Bird Paradise.
A megamadárpark üzemeltetői azt állítják, hogy a létesítmény a korábbinál jobb életkörülményeket biztosít a madaraknak, és jobb feltételeket kínál a tenyészprogramok számára.
