Folytatódik a Facebook csevegésre kitalált vagy alkalmas szolgáltatásainak egy tető alá hozása. A szenátus kereskedelmi bizottsága a tanúk padjára idézte Antigone Davist, a Facebook biztonságért felelős vezetőjét – közölte az AP hírügynökség.
Marsha Blackburn republikánus és Richard Blumenthal demokrata szenátor is jelezte, hogy válaszokat vár a techóriástól. Blumenthal, a vizsgálóbizottság vezetője, korábbi szövetségi főügyész, a fogyasztóvédelmi terület szakértője jelezte, hogy kemény kérdésekkel és elszámoltatással készül.
A fejlemények a Facebook újabb vívmányára is hatással vannak, átmenetileg szüneteltetik az Instagram gyermekváltozatának fejlesztését, a projekt célja eredetileg az volt, hogy a 13 év alattiak számára hozzanak létre egy gyermekbarát közösségi oldalt – írja a Reuters.
A projekt leállítása közvetlenül azután történt, hogy a The Wall Street Journal oknyomozó riportsorozatot közölt a Facebook belső dokumentumai alapján a cég visszás működéséről.
A Facebook saját kutatása részletesen kifejti, hogy szabályai hogyan kedveznek az eliteknek, platformjai negatív hatással vannak a tinédzserek mentális egészségére, hogy az algoritmus dühössé tette a felhasználókat, illetve a drogkartellek és az embercsempészek nyíltan használják a Facebookot. A dokumentumokból az is kiderült, hogy a közösségi oldal gyakran minimális vagy eredménytelen erőfeszítéseket tett a problémák megoldása érdekében.
Kisebbségi komplexust, depressziót, étkezési zavarokat és önértékelési problémákat okoz a túlzott Instagram-használat a fiatal lányok körében – tette közzé a portál a Facebook kiszivárgott jelentéseire hivatkozva.
A tizenéves lányok 32 százaléka, azaz minden harmadik felhasználó nyilatkozta, hogy az Instagram miatt rosszabbul érzi magát a bőrében.
Még súlyosabb információ, hogy a brit fiatalok 13, míg az amerikai tinik 6 százaléka vallott arról, hogy már öngyilkossággal kapcsolatos gondolatokat ébresztett bennük a portál.
A Facebooknál valójában már korábban is tudtak a problémáról, mégsem kapott nyilvánosságot a kutatás eredménye, és a felhasználókat sem figyelmeztették a káros hatásokra.
Az Instagram célcsoportja pedig kifejezetten a fiatalok. A felhasználók 40 százaléka 22 év alatti, és ez a generáció már szívesebben használja az Instát, mint a Facebookot.
A lap emlékeztet, hogy a koronavírus-járvány nem segített abban, hogy a Facebookon terjedő álhírek visszaszoruljanak, hiszen a felhasználók hozzák létre a tartalmakat, a bejegyzéseket és a videókat, annak ellenére, hogy a közösségi oldalon a hírfolyam szűrésére használt algoritmust többször is módosították. Már Oroszország is bírságolja a Facebookot, amiért nem távolították el általuk illegálisnak ítélt tartalmakat.
A közösségi platform márciusban jelentette az Instagram Kids alkalmazás fejlesztését azzal indokolva, hogy „szülői ellenőrzés alatt álló élményt nyújtsanak” a fiatal felhasználóknak. Két hónappal később
44 amerikai állam főügyésze levelet írt a Facebook vezérigazgatójának, Mark Zuckerbergnek, hogy függessze fel a projekt fejlesztését. A főügyészek arra hivatkoztak, hogy megnövekedett az internetes zaklatások, visszaélések száma.

Bonyolult folyamatokat vesz figyelembe az Instagram, hogy összeállítsa a felhasználó hírfolyamát. A jelek szerint ezt egészítenék ki egy alternatív megoldással, de ebbe a másik oldalnak, vagyis a tartalom fogyasztójának nagyobb beleszólása lenne.
Egy Alessandro Paluzzi nevű fejlesztő vette észre néhány napja, hogy az Instagram egy olyan hírfolyambeli változást tesztel, amivel bizonyos fiókok tartalmait előrébb hozhatja a felhasználó. A kiválasztott képek ennek eredményeként hamarabb tűnnek fel, míg az algoritmus által összeállított fotók csak ezután böngészhetők.
A Gizmodo szerint ezzel a funkcióval sokkal színesebbé tehető az instagramos hírfolyam, és egyben megoldás érkezhet a szolgáltatás egyik – sokak szerint – zavaró jelenségére. A képmegosztó most ugyanis mindenkinél bonyolult folyamatok alapján rangsorolja a képeket, és e paraméterek szerint jeleníti meg a bekövetett fiókok tartalmait. Így viszont előfordulhat, hogy a felhasználó olyan képeket lát, melyekre nem igazán kíváncsi, és az érdekesebbeket csak később, egy alapos átgörgetés után kapja meg.
Paluzzi felfedezése a jelek szerint ezt a problémát orvosolná, méghozzá a felhasználó bevonásával: neki kellene ugyanis beállítani, melyek a kedvencnek minősülő fiókok, hogy a szolgáltatás kiválogassa a favorizált tartalmakat. Hasonló fejlesztés egyébként a Facebook-oldalaknál is elérhető: a felhasználó megcsillagozhatja, mely oldalaktól származó bejegyzések jelenjenek meg a hírfolyam felső részében, mint ha rangsorolná azokat.
Az Instagram egy kérdésre válaszolva nem tagadta, hogy min munkálkodnak, de igyekeztek leszögezni, hogy a funkció még erősen kísérleti jellegű. Azt nem tudni, hogy mikortól tervezik bevezetni.

Rendszerint érik kritikák a Facebook tulajdonában álló Instagramot, amiért többek szerint mérgező hatással van a kamaszokra. Egy új jelentés csak megerősíti ezt.
A Facebook pontosan tudja, hogy az Instagram rombolja a kamaszok egészséges testképét, amit egy általuk elvégzett felmérés is igazol. A jelentés 2019-ben készült, de a benne szereplő eredményeket soha nem hozták nyilvánosságra. A The Wall Street Journal nemrég azonban megszerezte az iratokat és a benne szereplő állításokat, így az egész világ értesülhet róluk.
A három évvel készült felmérés egyik legfontosabb megállapítása, hogy az Instagram háromból egy kamasz lánynak testképzavart okoz. A dokumentumban olyanok is olvashatók, hogy a képmegosztó miatt nőtt a depressziósok és a szorongók száma. Az utóbbi részhez kapcsolódó állításokat a BBC is áttekintette, és kiemelték, hogy Nagy-Britanniában az öngyilkossági gondolatokkal küzdők 13 százaléka, az Egyesült Államokban pedig 6 százaléka mondta azt, hogy ezt az állapotot az Instagram váltotta ki belőlük.
A kutatás szerint az Instagramot használó brit és amerikai tinédzserek több mint 40 százaléka csúnyábbnak látja magát, ha megnyitja az appot, melynek oka, hogy a szolgáltatás felerősíti a másikhoz való hasonlítgatást. Ez a TikTok és a Snapchat esetében is érzékelhető, de az Instagramnál sokkal erősebben. A megszólalók nagyobb része azt sem titkolta, hogy nem tud leállni az alkalmazás használatával.
A kiszivárgott eredmények hitelességét nem cáfolta a szolgáltatás első embere, Adam Mosseri, sőt, azt mondta, büszke rá, hogy elkészítették a kutatást. Emellett megemlítette, hogy az Instagram létezése óta rengeteg hasznos funkciót élesített, melyek előnyeit minden korosztály élvezheti. Példaként hozta fel többek közt a lájkok elrejtésének lehetőségét. A lájk ugyanis fontos népszerűségi fokmérő a fiatalok körében.

A Facebook-birodalomhoz tartozó újdonságokat általában egy közleményben jelenti be a vállalat, még akkor is, ha azok az Instagram képmegosztóhoz készültek. Most nem így történt: maga Mark Zuckerberg, pontosabban a Facebook-főnök kutyája kürtölte (ugatta) világgá, hogy a szolgáltatás már képes feliratot készíteni a videón elhangzottakhoz.
Az újdonság lényege, hogy ha valaki egy hangos felvételt tesz közzé a Stories (Történetek) részen, úgy a rendszer automatikusan feliratot készít hozzá – a szöveget tehát nem szükséges kézzel bepötyögni. Ugyanakkor fontos hozzátenni, hogy a módszer egyelőre csak az angol nyelvű területeken működik.
A Facebook szerint a technika segít befogadhatóbbá tenni a videón látottakat, emellett azok is profitálhatnak belőle, akik rendszerint lenémítva nézik az instagramos történeteket.
Az újdonságot bejelentő videóban látható puli, Beast, a Zuckerberg-család fontos tagja. A kutya miatt korábban Magyarországon is járt a Facebook első embere.

A Mianmart irányító junta és a hadsereghez köthető vállalatok összes oldalát törölte a Facebook és az Instagram.
A közösségi hálózatokat üzemeltető cég csütörtökön a február 1-i katonai puccsal és az azt követő erőszakhullámmal és jogsértésekkel indokolta a döntést – írja az MTI.
Hasonlóan járnak el minden olyan oldallal, amelynek köze lehet a délkelet-ázsiai ország hadseregéhez. Junta a puccs óta többször megsértette az oldal közösségi szabályzatát is – szögezte le közleményében a Facebook. Vasárnap a Facebook már törölte a hadsereg információs oldalát, mert az indoklás szerint erőszakot szított.
A katonaság részéről egyelőre nem kommentálták a bejelentést.
A Facebooknak nem az első afférja a térség radikális csoportjával. A hadsereg főparancsnokának, Min Aung Hlaingnak a profilját 2018-ban letiltotta, mert rosszindulatú tartalmakat osztott meg. A techóriás a novemberi mianmari választások előtt pedig több száz, a katonasághoz köthető fiókot szüntetett meg.
A mianmari hadsereg február első napján, az új parlament megalakulása előtt pár órával vette át a hatalmat, és letartóztatta az országot vezető politikusokat, köztük a Nobel-békedíjas Aung Szan Szú Kjí államtanácsost és Vin Mjin államfőt. A katonaság arra hivatkozott, hogy a kormány nem vette figyelembe a novemberi választásokkal kapcsolatos panaszait. A választáson Aung Szan Szú Kjí pártja, a Nemzeti Liga a Demokráciáért (NLD) elsöprő győzelmet aratott.
A puccs óta, a kihirdetett rendkívüli állapot ellenére, rendszeresek a tömeges tiltakozások Mianmarban. Az erőszakba torkolló demonstrációknak a hivatalos közlés szerint három halálos áldozata van, a Politikai Foglyokat Támogató Egyesület (AAPP) nevű mianmari jogvédő szervezet szerint azonban legalább nyolcan vesztették életüket,
beleértve egy 26 éves férfit is, aki őrizetben halt meg, mert nem látták el a tüntetésen szerzett lőtt sebét. Az AAPP összesen 726 őrizetbe vett emberről tud, akik közül eddig 62-t engedtek szabadon.
Csütörtökön ismét demonstrációkról adtak hírt Rangunból, ahol a hatóságok megpróbálták megakadályozni a tüntetésekre igyekvő diákokat abban, hogy elhagyják a kampuszokat. Helyszíni beszámolók szerint körülbelül ezer, a hadsereggel szimpatizáló ember gyűlt össze Rangun belvárosában, összecsaptak a hatalomátvétel ellen tiltakozókkal, megtámadták a helyszínről tudósító riportereket és fotósokat is.

Az elmúlt években több olyan funkciót is készített már az Instagram, melyek közös célja, hogy megvédjék a felhasználókat az online zaklatásoktól. Az egyik ilyen, hogy a mesterséges intelligencia felismeri, ha valaki bántó hozzászólást akar írni egy bejegyzéshez, és egy pszichológiai trükkel megpróbálja erről lebeszélni. Emellett 2020 tavaszán több kisebb, ezzel kapcsolatos funkció is érkezett a platformra.
Most ismét az online zaklatás felszámolása érdekében szeretne egyet előre lépni az Instagram, ezúttal a közvetlen üzenetküldést célozzák meg. A cég azután jelentette be a változást, hogy több brit futballista is arról számolt be, hogy rasszista üzeneteket kapnak a platformon keresztül.
A cég szerint az üzenetküldésnél sokkal nehezebb dolga van a vállalatnak, mert nem tudja ugyanazt az automatizált megoldást használni a felhasználók védelme érdekében, mint amit például a hozzászólások esetében alkalmaz. A jövőben azonban szigorúbb intézkedésekre számíthatnak azok, akik nem kívánatos üzeneteket küldenek el a platformon.
Míg korábban csak az üzenetküldésben korlátozták azokat a felhasználókat, akik ilyesmire használják az Instagramot, a jövőben teljesen letiltják őket, illetve azokat az új fiókokat is, amelyeket azért hoznak létre, hogy megkerüljék a vállalat szabályozását. Emellett a jövőben azt is lehetővé tennék, hogy a felhasználók beállíthassák: ne tudjon nekik üzenetet küldeni az, akit nem követnek.

Rekordokat döntött, amikor megjelent az Instagramon Sir David Attenborough világhírű természettudós, de néhány hónap után otthagyta a közösségi médiát.
A világ szinte minden élőlényét ismeri, érti és látja a klímaváltozást és annak lehetséges következményeit, az Instagram mégis kifogott a 94 éves David Attenborough-n. A természettudós a BBC Radio 1 műsorában beszélt arról, hogy végleg letett a képes közösségi médiaplatform használatáról.
Olyan idős vagyok, hogy nem tudom megszokni ezeket az új médiumokat, de rábeszéltek erre, hogy a természetvédelemmel kapcsolatos üzenetet küldjek. Tehát korlátozott ideig hozzájárultam az Instagramhoz, de most már nem vagyok elérhető – fogalmazott Attenborough.
A természettudós első Instagram-posztjában arról beszélt, hogy a világ bajban van, és bolygónk megmentése ma már kommunikációs kihívás.
David Attenborough Instagramon történt megjelenése után rekordgyorsasággal érte el az egymilliós követőszámot, ehhez mindössze 4 óra 44 percre volt szüksége. Ezzel maga mögé utasította többek között Jennifer Anistont, Ferenc pápát és David Beckhamet is.
Ám hiába a rekordgyorsan növekedő követőtábor, Attenborough két hónap után besokallt, és elhagyta az Instagramot. Fiókja továbbra is elérhető, de a jövőben nem kíván többet posztolni. A tudós azzal magyarázta döntését, hogy túl sok üzenetet kap a közösségi oldalon.
Az internet népét megosztotta Attenborough döntése. Volt, aki megértően fogadta a hírt, volt, aki szégyennek nevezte azt.
A tudós saját bevallása szerint naponta 70 levelet kap, és ha valaki mellékel neki egy válaszborítékot, akkor annak nagyon szívesen válaszol.

Facebook több dolgot is kivett a Messengerből és az Instagramból az adatvédelemre vonatkozó európai irányelvek miatt. Remélik, hogy hamar visszakapcsolhatják őket.
December 21-től az Európai Unióban működő üzenetküldő szolgáltatásokra, így a Facebook Messengerre, valamint a cég birtokában lévő Instagramra is kiterjesztik az elektronikus hírközlési adatvédelmi rendeletet (e-Privacy). Ez az Általános adatvédelmi rendelethez (a GDPR-hez) hasonlóan a magánélet és a digitális adatok védelmét szolgálja.
A Facebook szerint egyelőre nem látni, hogy a két alkalmazás funkciói vajon megfelelnek-e az újabb szabályoknak, ezért – saját számításuk szerint csak ideiglenesen, de – mindkét appból eltávolítanak bizonyos eszközöket. A változás következményeként az európai facebookozóknál (így pedig a magyaroknál is) nem lesz elérhető többek közt a messengeres beszélgetésekben való keresés, nem lehet majd becenevet adni az ismerősöknek, így ők kizárólag a valódi nevükön lesznek láthatók, és nem lehet például szavazásokat indítani a chatpartnerek bevonásával.
A BBC szerint a változtatás nem egyszerre, hanem fokozatosan ér el a felhasználókhoz. Így előfordulhat, hogy míg tegnap minden probléma nélkül tudott keresni a beszélgetésekben, holnaptól már nem lesz rá lehetősége.
A Facebook azt reméli, hogy a korábban kivett programfunkciókat gyorsan vissza tudja állítani, de hogy erre mennyit kell várni, azt nem közölték.
