Ferenc pápát július végi kanadai látogatását követően a már korábban bejelentett ukrajnai és oroszországi látogatásáról is kérdezték egy interjúban, amelynek célja az lett volna, hogy elősegítse a két ország közötti háború lezárását célzó párbeszédet.
A Reuters hírügynökségnek adott júliusi exkluzív interjújában az egyházfő megerősítette: szeretne Kijevbe látogatni, de előtte Moszkvába is elutazna, hogy elősegítse a békét.
Azt is elmondta a nyári interjúban, hogy kisebb törést szenvedett a térde, amikor a gyulladt térdszalagja miatt rosszul lépett. Ferenc pápa korábbi tervei szerint részt vett volna a világvallások és hagyományos vallási gyülekezetek vezetőinek VII. kongresszusán szeptember 13-15. között a kazah fővárosban, Nur-Szultanban, de erre a látogatásra sem kerül sor.

Paul Gallagher érsek, a Vatikán „külügyminisztere” a Rai1 olasz televíziónak nyilatkozva elmondta, hogy a 85 éves pápa július végén, Kanadából visszatérése után megbeszélést folytat majd munkatársaival egy lehetséges kijevi látogatásról.
Arra a kérdésre, hogy elképzelhető-e egy ilyen utazás már augusztusban, Gallagher úgy válaszolt: lehetséges, nem zárnám ki.
A brit érsek azonban leszögezte, hogy természetesen minden a pápa egészségi állapotán múlik. A július elejére tervezett afrikai utat a pápa lemondta ugyan, de Kanadába továbbra is szándékában áll ellátogatni. A pápa térd-ínszalaggyulladás miatt az utóbbi időben gyakorta kerekesszékben jelenik meg a nyilvánosság előtt.
„A pápa meg van győződve arról, hogy egy kijevi látogatásnak pozitív hatása lenne” – mondta Gallagher. Ferenc pápa Moszkvába is kész lenne ellátogatni – tette hozzá.
A katolikus egyházfő szeptember közepén a kazah fővárosban, Nur-Szultanban megrendezendő vallásközi világkongresszusra is tervez utazást. A Vatikán ezt már május végén megerősítette. Ott Ferenc pápa találkozhatna Kirill orosz pátriárkával. „Ha a pápa és a pátriárka egészen Kazahsztánig elrepül, akkor találkozni is fognak” – mondta Gallagher.

A jelentés szerint Zelenszkij a Krivij Rih körzetében megbeszélést tartott a térség helyzetéről, a csapatok és katonai egységek helyzetéről. Az elnök a felkeresett előretolt állásokban kitüntetéseket adott át a katonáknak.
Mint az államfő bejegyzésében írta, „előretolt állások Dnyipropetrovszk megyében. Beszéltem a védőinkkel, kitüntetéseket adtam át nekik.” Hozzátette: a hangulatuk határozott, a szemükben bizalom a győzelmünkben. „Köszönet, amiért Ukrajna szabadságáért harcoltok!” – zárta sorait Volodimir Zelenszkij.
Mint hírportálunk június 6-án beszámolt róla, Zelenszkij elnök Zaporizzsja megyében tett munkalátogatást, amelynek során felkereste az ukrán hadsereg előretolt állásait, és tájékozódott a hadműveleti helyzetről. Az államfő a frontvonalon megismerkedett a hadműveleti helyzettel, és kitüntetéseket adott át a katonáknak. „Szeretném megköszönni nagyszerű munkájukat, szolgálatukat, amit mindannyiunk, az államunk védelmében teljesítenek. Köszönöm mindenkinek. Jó egészséget kívánok önöknek és családjuknak, akik támogatják önöket. Vigyázzanak magukra!” – fordult az elnök a katonákhoz, majd egyperces néma főhajtással tisztelegtek az elesett harcosok emléke előtt.

Az oroszok által gyakran lőtt Mikolajivba látogatott Volodimir Zelenszkij elnök szombaton, ahol a helyi vezetőkkel megvitatta a térség problémáit, kitüntetéseket osztott és több helyszínen is szemlét tartott – adta hírül az rbc.ua hírportál az államfő hivatalos Telegram-csatornájára hivatkozva.
Mint Zelenszkij írta, „a mi mikolajivi régiónk. Tanácskozás a megye fontos kérdéseiről. Megvitattuk a gazdasági helyzetet, a vízellátás helyreállítását, a mezőgazdaság helyzetét. Különös figyelmet fordítottunk a szárazföld és a tenger felőli fenyegetésekre. Nem állunk le a munkával a győzelemig.”
Az elnököt a mikolajivi látogatásra elkísérte az Elnöki Hivatal csapata. Andrij Jermak, az elnöki hivatal vezetője tájékoztatott a megyében tartott tanácskozás kiemelt témáiról: kulcsfontosságú Mikolajiv vízellátásának a helyreállítása, amit bonyolított vízellátó rendszer megrongálása az orosz támadások által; a mezőgazdaság helyzete a régióban. Nagyon fontos folyamat az idei betakarítás, akárcsak a gazdaságok ellátása a szükséges technikai eszközökkel és üzemanyaggal. Sok múlik a gabona tárolására szolgáló létesítmények rendelkezésre állásán és az új logisztikai útvonalak kialakításán.
A térség katonai parancsnokságának tisztjei beszámoltak a szárazföldi és a fekete-tengeri háborús övezet helyzetéről. Szóba került a szárazföldi, tengeri és az el nem ismert Dnyeszteren Túli Köztársaságból érkező fenyegetések kérdése, valamint a Kígyó-sziget helyzete, a Primorje hadseregcsoport logisztikai támogatása és védelmi szükségletei.
Zelenszkij elnök állami kitüntetéseket adott át a helyi vezetőknek: Vitalij Kimet, a Mikolajiv Megyei Katonai Adminisztráció vezetőjét a Bohdan Hmelnickij érdemrend III. fokozatával, Olekszandr Szenkevicset, Mikolajiv polgármesterét Bátorságért érdemrend III. fokozatával tüntette ki, míg Andrij Hnatov ezredest dandártábornokká léptette elő.
Az államfő felkereste a mikolajivi mentőkórházat és a megyei katonai adminisztráció vezetőivel megszemlélte a megyeháza orosz rakétacsapás következtében megsemmisült épületét. Az Agerpres hírügynökség beszámolója szerint az amerikai first lady a román államfő feleségével, Carmen Iohannisszal együtt látogatta meg az egyik bukaresti általános iskolát, ahol két osztályteremben zajlanak foglalkozások az ukrán menekült gyermekek számára. Egyikben óvodáskorú és alsó tagozatos kisiskolások, a másikban a nagyobb gyermekek végeznek különböző tevékenységeket egy-egy román és ukrán pedagógus felügyelete mellett.
Jill Biden és Carmen Iohannis olyan ukrán édesanyákkal is beszélgetett, akik – hozzájuk hasonlóan – maguk is pedagógusok és kezdeményező szerepet vállaltak a menekült gyermekek iskolai foglalkoztatásnak, további oktatásának megszervezésében. A csaknem félórás beszélgetésről a román elnöki hivatal közösségi oldalán tett közzé videofelvételt. Jill Biden csodálatosnak nevezte az ukrán anyák gyermekeikért vállalt küzdelmét, valamint azt a szolidaritást, amellyel a román emberek otthonaikba fogadták és segítik őket.

Először a Fekete-tenger partvidékén található Mihail Kogalniceanu légitámaszpontot kereste fel, ahol amerikai és más országokból Romániába érkezett NATO-katonákkal találkozott, majd este Bukarestbe utazott.
