Ferenc pápa bejelentette, hogy márciusban Raffaella Petrini nővért tervezi kinevezni a Vatikán kormányzójává. Erről az olasz Che tempo che fa című talk show-ban beszélt, jelentette a DW.
Petrini 2021 óta a Vatikán kormányzóságának főtitkára. A kormányfői poszton érkezése után Fernando Vérgez Alsagu érseket váltja, aki 2025. március 1-jén tölti be a 80. életévét.
„A nők munkája a kúriában (a Szent Péter Székesegyház fő adminisztratív szerve) lassan haladt előre, de hatékonyan. A nők jobban végzik, mint mi” – jegyezte meg a pápa.
Emlékezzünk, hogy Ferenc pápa először nevezett ki nőt a Szentéletű Élet Intézményei és Az Apostoli Élet Társaságai Dikaszteriumának vezetőjévé, amely a szerzetesi intézmények kérdéseivel foglalkozik. Prefektusnak Simona Brambill nővért nevezte ki, aki eddig a római kúria hivatalában titkárként dolgozott.
