Zelenszkij a Telegramon közölte, hogy meghallgatta Olekszij Nejizspapa, az ukrán haditengerészet parancsnokának beszámolóját a fekete-tengeri hadműveleti helyzetről, valamint a haditengerészet védelmi képességeiről és fejlesztési stratégiájáról a háború alatt és az azt követő időszakban. Megvitatták a haditengerészeti drónprogram és rakétaprogram időközi eredményeit és fejlesztési kilátásait is.
Az elnök felköszöntötte a haditengerészet katonáit ünnepnapjuk alkalmából.

A jelentés szerint Denisz Smihal azt írta, hogy az ukrán tengerészeknek lehetőségük lesz arra, hogy külföldre utazzanak, de csak a területileg illetékes toborzóközpont engedélyével. Az erről szóló döntést a kormány hozta meg – tette hozzá.
A kormányfő külön hangsúlyozta, hogy a tengerészek csak a területi toborzóközpont jóváhagyásával léphetik át a határt, és megjegyezte, hogy azok a hadköteles férfiak, akik tengeri és folyami hajók személyzetének a tagjai, és továbbra is hajókon dolgoznak, kiutazhatnak külföldre. És a tengerészeti oktatási intézmények hallgatói (kadétjai) is elhagyhatják Ukrajnát, ha hajón kell gyakorlati képzésben részt venniük – húzta alá.
„Ukrajna a világ egyik vezető országa a magasan képzett tengerészek számát tekintve. Több mint 100 000 ukrán dolgozik a globális tengeri kereskedelmi szállítmányozásban. Egy ilyen döntés, mint a mostani, több ezer tengerésznek ad munkát, és növeli a költségvetés bevételeit” – mutatott rá Denisz Smihal.

Az ukrajnai háború miatt mintegy ezer tengerész vesztegel kereskedelmi hajókon az ukrán vizeken, és helyzetük egyre tarthatatlanabb, mert vészesen fogy a tartalékuk élelemből, ivóvízből, üzemanyagból és egyéb alapvető szükségleti cikkekből – figyelmeztettek pénteken este ENSZ-szervezetek.
A Nemzetközi Tengerészeti Szervezet (IMO) és a Nemzetközi Munkaügyi Szervezet (ILO) közös közleményben azzal a kéréssel fordult a nemzetközi vöröskereszthez, az Orvosok Határok Nélkül (MSF) nevű segélyszervezethez és az ENSZ Menekültügyi Főbiztosságához (UNHCR), hogy segítsenek utánpótlást eljuttatni a 86 hajóra.
Az orosz hadsereg és a kelet-ukrajnai szakadárok által hevesen ostromlott Mariupolnál horgonyzó hajók legénysége különösen veszélyben van – írták. A tengerészek, illetve a kereskedelmi hajók távozási lehetősége érdekében folyamatban van egy humanitárius tengeri folyosó kialakítása a Fekete- és az Azovi-tengeren, „de ezt nagyban hátráltatják biztonsági kockázatok” – tették hozzá.
