A kameracsapdák megerősítették, hogy legalább hat ritka indokínai tigris kóborol a Salak Phra Rezervátum trópusi erdeiben. A csoportnak egy anya és két kölyke is tagja. Egy helyi szakértő szerint a nagymacskák jelenléte azt mutatja, hogy a természetvédelmi terület ökoszisztémája jó állapotban van.
A Salak Phra Rezervátum a thaiföldi fővárostól, Bangkoktól nyugatra fekvő Kancsanaburi közelében található.
Az indokínai tigris súlyosan veszélyeztetett faj, amelynek egyik kiemelten fontos élőhelye Thaiföld. Az állományt az orvvadászat, az illegális kereskedelem és az élőhely elvesztése veszélyezteti a leginkább.
