 „Dicsőség népünknek! Dicsőség minden katonánknak! Dicsőség Ukrajnának!” – zárta ünnepi bejegyzését Volodimir Zelenszkij.
  
 
 Valerij Zaluzsnij, az ukrán fegyveres erők főparancsnoka a védők napján Facebook-oldalán közzétett bejegyzésében azt írta, hogy „az ukránoknak minden nap emlékezniük kell arra az árra, amelyet népünk fizetett, és továbbra is fizetnie kell szabadságáért.” Mint hangsúlyozta, „nincsenek megfelelő szavak vagy pillanatok, amikor a veszteségekről van szó. Mert ezek bizonyos emberek összetört sorsai, akik hozzátartozóik számára az egész univerzumot jelentették.” Ugyanakkor megjegyezte: „sajnos a hősök meghalnak. De örök életet és örök dicsőséget nyernek, lelki vonatkoztatási pontok maradnak, és példaként szolgálnak az ukránok jövő nemzedékei számára.” Azt is megígérte, hogy „egyetlen áldozat sem lesz hiábavaló – a küzdelmet a győzelmünkig folytatjuk”.
