A Microsoft Corporation nem szándékozik felszámolni oroszországi leányvállalatát – derül ki a Microsoft oroszországi irodájának 2022-es jelentéséből.
A Microsoftnak 2004 óta van oroszországi kitelepülése. A Microsoft 2022 márciusában megkezdte oroszországi tevékenységének redukálását. Az oroszországi irodából 2022-ben két alkalmazott kivételével mindenkit elbocsátottak, és felmondták a hosszú távú bérleti szerződéseket. Összehasonlításképpen: 2021 végén a létszám 376 fő volt.
„Ugyanakkor a Microsoft Rus LLC felszámolására vonatkozó döntést a jelen pénzügyi kimutatások jóváhagyásának időpontjában nem veszik figyelembe” – áll a jelentésben. Az anyavállalat továbbra is figyelemmel kíséri a meglévő korlátozások változásait.

A lap közleménye szerint ez a lépés jelzi a The Washington Post hosszú távú elkötelezettségét az Oroszország Ukrajna elleni háborújáról történő tudósítás mellett, mivel ez lesz az idei év fő története.
Khurshudyan, az amerikai lap moszkvai irodájának egykori tudósítója január óta Ukrajnából jelent, míg Max Bearak, a nairobi iroda korábbi vezetője pedig két hónapja dolgozik Ukrajnában. Ők fogják irányítani a David Stern ukrán tudósítóból, valamint riporterekből, fotósokból és videós újságírókból álló csapatot.
