 A Royal Mail a következő három évben 500 drónosra bővíti flottáját, mellyel főként nehezen megközeltíhető területeken, a Hebridákon, a Scilly-szigeten, a Shetland-szigeten és az Orkney-szigeteken javítja majd szolgáltatását.
 Az Egyesült Királyság ezen területeire jelenleg komppal, repülővel és szárazföldi úton szállítják ki a küldeményeket, de a rossz időjárás ellehetetlenítheti ezt. A drónok használata segít a szén-dioxid-kibocsátás csökkentésében is a Sky News cikke szerint.
 Az elmúlt másfél évben már kísérleti jelleggel alkalmaztak drónokat Scilly és Mull szigetén. Az új szolgáltatás tesztrepülései a shetlandi Lerwick és a szigetek északi részén található Unst közötti közel 160 kilométeres útvonalat is teljesítették. Napi két repüléssel 100 kilogrammos terhet szállítottak, a küldeményeket pedig a postáig vitték, ahonnan a helyi kézbesítő szállította ki a küldeményeket a címzetteknek.
 A szolgáltatás a Polgári Légiközlekedési Hatóság jóváhagyásától függően indulhat el élesben, a Windracers dróngyártó céggel partnerségben.
 A Royal Mail célja 500 fős drónflottát kialakítani, mellyel az ország teljes területét le tudja fedni.
„Célunk a pontos kézbesítés, függetlenül ügyfeleink tartózkodási helyétől vagy az időjárástól, miközben megóvjuk a környezetünket. Annak ellenére, hogy bárhová eljutunk, a Royal Mail már most is a legalacsonyabb szén-dioxid-kibocsátással rendelkezik egy kézbesített csomagra vetítve. Ez a kezdeményezés segít még tovább csökkenteni a kibocsátásunkat” – mondta el a cég vezetője, Simon Thompson.
 2019-ben az Amazon már arról nyilatkozott, hogy hónapokra van attól, hogy drónokkal szállítson csomagokat, de a szolgáltatás eddig nem indult el, valószínűleg még fejlesztés alatt áll.
