 Coleman és a transzneműek szülésében is segédkező bába, Ray Rachlin kifejtik, hogy a transznemű életük elején járó embereknek különösen nehéz azzal szembesülni, hogy a terhességről szóló szakirodalom a fehér, heteroszexuális és cisznemű nőknek szól, illetve a szakirodalom nyelvezete kizárólag biológiai nőkkel köti össze az anyaságot, transznemű férfiakkal nem.
 Az aktivisták szerint ez bántó azoknak a várandós embereknek, akik nem női identitással élnek. Coleman elmondja, hogy terhessége során számos trauma érte őt is, mert több egészségügyi dolgozó is megkérdőjelezte az identitását, s arra is volt példa, hogy elküldték őt az intézmény egyik részlegéről mondván, hogy az a női páciensek számára fenntartott osztály.
 
 Coleman szerint transzneműsége miatt még az abortusz lehetőségét is felajánlották neki.
 Coleman sajnálja, hogy terhessége idején nem érezhette magát ugyanolyan különlegesnek, mint várandós nőtársai, mert neki senki nem nyitotta ki az ajtót előzékenyen, ahogy a terhes nőknek ezt ismeretlenek is megteszik lépten-nyomon, s hogy mindenki azt hitte róla, hogy ő csak egy tetemes sörhassal megáldott férfi.
 Ugyanakkor Coleman látja ennek a jó oldalát is, ugyanis így nem vált támadások célpontjává azért, mert transznemű férfiként vállalt gyereket. Coleman célja, hogy eloszlassa az egészségügyi társadalomban a terhességgel kapcsolatos sztereotípiákat.
