 Dimitrij Peszkov, a Kreml szóvivője csak annyit mondott, a december 27-ére tervezett találkozó elmarad, de okokat nem nevezett meg. Az információ a résztvevőket is látszólag váratlanul érte, legalábbis az Orosz Iparosok és Vállalkozók Szakszervezetének elnöke nemrég még arról beszélt, valamikor december 25-e után kerül majd sor a találkozóra.
 Az eseményen elvileg gazdasági kérdésekről szokott szó lenni zárt ajtók mögött, de Putyin tavaly egyes beszámolók szerint valójában saját, második világháborúról szóló kutatásairól beszélt.
 Putyin korábban szintén lemondta az éves televíziós bejelentkezését, amelyen az orosz nép – persze gondosan megválogatott – kérdéseire válaszolt volna.
