Pozitív lett a koronavírustesztje több ázsiai kiskarmú vidrának az amerikai Atlantában található Georgia Aquarium állatkertben – közölte az intézmény a Facebookon.
Azt írták, hogy az állatoknak enyhe tüneteik vannak, tüsszögnek, folyik az orruk, köhögnek és a letargia jeleit mutatják.
Az állatkert hangsúlyozta, hogy minden járványügyi előírást maximálisan betartottak, a vidrák vélhetően egy tünetmentes alkalmazottól kaphatták el a fertőzést.
A Georgia Aquarium arra számít, hogy az állatok minél előbb felépülnek a betegségből.
A koronavírus korábban más állatkertekben is megjelent. A New York-i állatkertben több tigris és oroszlán is megfertőződött, a barcelonai állatkertben koronavírusos lett négy oroszlán, Prágában pedig egy gorilla és két oroszlán kapta el a vírust.
A Zoetis tavaly februárban kezdte el fejleszteni a Covid-19-vakcinát macskáknak és kutyáknak, miután pozitív lett egy kutya koronavírustesztje Hongkongban.
Márciusban ezzel a vakcinával oltottak be négy orángutánt és öt bonobót a San Diegó-i állatkertben.
