Ma, szeptember 12-én megszűnt a 2007 óta hatályos vízumkönnyítési megállapodás az Európai Unió és Oroszország között.
A megállapodás felfüggesztése azt jelenti, hogy ezentúl az EU-országokba látogató oroszokra a harmadik országokból érkező bevándorlók vízumkiadásának általános szabályai vonatkoznak majd. A vízum díja 35-ről 80 euróra emelkedik, a kérelmezőnek kibővített dokumentumlistát kell benyújtania igényléskor, a kérelem elbírálásának maximális ideje pedig 45 napra nő.
A határozat szerint az orosz állampolgárok turisztikai célú Európai Unióba irányuló vízumkérelmét nem elsőbbségi módban kell elbírálni.
Az EU Tanácsa szeptember 9-én végül jóváhagyta az Oroszországgal szembeni egyszerűsített vízumrendszer teljes felfüggesztéséről korábban hozott döntést. Ylva Johansson európai biztos azt mondta, Európának nincs többé oka bízni az oroszokban.
