A GB News nevű brit médiatársaság pénteki bejelentése szerint Johnson – aki 2019 nyarától három évig töltötte be a kormányzó Konzervatív Párt vezetőjeként a miniszterelnöki tisztséget – a jövő év elején lép be a céghez „műsorvezetőként, programkészítőként és kommentátorként”.
Johnsonnak a tájékoztatás szerint „kulcsfontosságú szerepe” lesz a jövőre esedékes brit parlamenti választások, valamint az ugyancsak 2024-ben tartandó amerikai elnökválasztás tudósításában.
A volt brit kormányfő mindemellett új sorozatot is indít, amelynek célja az ő műsorvezetésével Nagy-Britannia globális befolyásának bemutatása – fogalmaz tájékoztatásában a GB News.
Boris Johnson a bejelentéshez fűzött videónyilatkozatában „lázadó csatornának” nevezte a GB News-t és közölte: műsoraiban elmondja majd „kozmetikázatlan” véleményét „Oroszországon és Kínán át az ukrajnai háborúig mindenről”.
A 2019-ben tartott legutóbbi brit parlamenti választáson az akkor még Boris Johnson vezette Konzervatív Párt negyven éve nem látott arányú győzelmet aratott, és 80 fős – a brit parlamenti rendszerben rendkívül kényelmesnek számító – alsóházi többséggel alakíthatott új kormányt.
Johnson azonban tavaly júliusban lemondott a pártvezetői posztjáról és a miniszterelnöki tisztségről, miután nyilvánosságra került, hogy a londoni kormányfői hivatalban a koronavírus-járvány miatt saját kormánya által elrendelt korlátozások idején ivászatokkal kísért társasági összejöveteleket rendeztek.
A volt miniszterelnök idén nyáron alsóházi képviselői mandátumát is visszaadta, miután a képviselői mentelmi jog és egyéb előjogok alkalmazását szabályozó alsóházi szakbizottság vizsgálati jelentése szerint szándékosan félrevezette a parlamentet, amikor többször is kijelentette, hogy ezeken az összejöveteleken nem történt törvénysértés.
A közkeletűen „partygate” néven emlegetett ügy az utóbbi évek legnagyobb belpolitikai botrányává fajult, és ennek hatására mélypontra süllyedt a konzervatívok választói támogatottsága.
A GB News 2021 júniusában indult. A műsorszóró cégek szabályozásáért is felelős brit távközlési felügyelet (Ofcom) eddig hétszer indított vizsgálatot a társaság ellen médiaetikai, pártatlansági és összeférhetetlenségi kifogások miatt.
A GB News műsorvezetőként alkalmazza Nigel Farage-t, a radikálisan EU-ellenes UKIP párt volt vezetőjét is, aki a brit EU-tagság megszűnéséhez (Brexit) vezető 2016-os népszavazás előtt évekig kampányolt azért, hogy Nagy-Britannia lépjen ki az Európai Unióból.
Johnson politikai pályafutása előtt is újságíró volt.
Gyakornokként a The Times című konzervatív napilapnak írt cikkeket, ám innen menesztették, miután kiderült, hogy egy történelmi tárgyú írásban valótlan, kitalált idézetet tulajdonított egy történésznek.
Később a The Daily Telegraph című, ugyancsak konzervatív irányzatú napilaphoz szegődött, amelynek brüsszeli tudósítójaként gyakran erőteljesen EU-szkeptikus – pályatársai és későbbi politikus kollégái által nem egyszer bírált és hitelességükben megkérdőjelezett – cikkeiről vált ismertté.

Rishi Sunak brit miniszterelnök szóvivője szerint a miniszterelnök úgy vélte, hogy helyénvaló lenne, ha Zelenszkij beszédet mondana, mivel az Egyesült Királyság ad otthont az eseménynek Ukrajna nevében. A miniszterelnök csalódott a versenyt rendező Európai Műsorszolgáltatók Uniójának (EBU) döntése miatt – közölte az Index a Sky News-ra hivatkozva.
„A szabadságjogok, amelyekért Zelenszkij elnök úr és az ukrán nép küzd, nem politikaiak, hanem alapvetők” – mondta Sunak szóvivője.
Boris Johnson volt brit miniszterelnök azt mondta, hogy „helyén való lett volna”, ha Volodimir Zelenszkij felszólal az Eurovíziós Dalfesztivál döntőjén.
Az ukrán elnök egy videófelvételen kérte volna a többmilliós közönséget, hogy támogassák Ukrajnát az oroszok elleni harcban. A szervezők azonban nem engedélyezték a beszédet, mert attól tartottak, hogy az átpolitizálhatja az eseményt.

A volt brit miniszterelnök az egyik első világvezető volt, aki a háború kitörése után ellátogatott Kijevbe, majd többször is visszatért az ukrán fővárosba. Júliusban ugyan lemondott a miniszterelnöki posztról, de azóta is támogatja Ukrajnát.
Boris Johnson a héten több európai vezetőt is éles kritikával illetett, mivel szerinte az invázió kezdetén eltérő, sokszor egymásnak ellentmondó válaszokat adtak. A CNN-nek azt nyilatkozta: Németország kezdetben azt az álláspontot képviselte, hogy egy hosszú védekező háborúnál jobb lenne, ha az ukránok kapitulálnának. Azóta Berlin és Párizs is visszautasította a korábbi brit kormányfő vádjait.

Egyre nagyobb gondokat okoznak Nagy-Britanniában az elszálló energiaárak, az előrejelzések szerint katasztrófa felé halad a lakosság: a téli hónapok kegyetlennek ígérkeznek a már most megfizethetetlen áram- és fűtésszámlák miatt.
Ebbe a felfokozott hangulatba csapódott be bombaként legutóbbi megnyilvánulásával Boris Johnson. Az épp távozófélben lévő miniszterelnök azt találta mondani Suffolkban, egy rendezvényen, hogy a legjobb megoldás a spórolásra, ha a britek vesznek egy új teáskannát.
Ha az öreg kannával évekig tart felforralni a vizet, akkor alig húsz fontért lehet venni újat, ezzel évente 10 font is megspórolható az áramszámlán – mondta Johnson az Independent című lap szerint.
A közösségi oldalakon természetesen azonnal kiakadtak Johnson üzenetén, és rengetegen otrombának és érzéketlennek bélyegezték a kormányfőt, szóvá téve, hogy sokra nem mennek 10 fontnyi spórolással, amikor évente 4 ezer fontot kell fizetniük rezsire.
Johnson várhatóan hétfőn távozik posztjáról, de ezzel az utolsó kijelentésével az eddig sem sokra tartott kormányzásának legvégét is sikerült még jobban elrontania. Utódja Liz Truss vagy Rishi Sunak lehet.

A leköszönő miniszterelnök és felesége a 18. századi Daylesford House-ban látta vendégül családtagjait és barátait, hogy szélesebb körben megünnepelhessék esküvőjüket, miután a világjárvány miatt tavaly vissza kellett fogniuk az ünnepségeket.
Az eseményt egy hatalmas fehér sátorban tartották a ház parkosított területén. A kastély Lord Bamford, a JCB építőipari berendezéseket gyártó cég elnöke tulajdonában van, aki milliókat adományozott a konzervatívoknak.
Boris Johnson feleségével eredetileg a miniszterelnök hivatalos vidéki rezidenciáján, a Buckinghamshire-ben található Chequersben tervezte megtartani az esküvői partit.
Akik biztosan nem kaptak meghívót
A vőlegény 81 éves édesapját, Stanley Johnsont szombat délután látták autóval behajtani a birtokra.
A volt kancellár, Rishi Sunak és a jelenlegi külügyminiszter, Liz Truss nem vett részt a partin, mivel a miniszterelnök leváltására irányuló kampányban vesznek részt.
Liz Truss egy bromley-i kampánylátogatáson az Independent szerint megvédte Boris Johnsont a pazar ünnepségek megtartásáért.
Szerintem joga van ahhoz, hogy élvezze az esküvője napját, és a legjobbakat kívánom neki, Carrie-nek és az egész családnak – válaszolta arra a kérdésre, hogy a miniszterelnöknek a bulizás helyett az országot sújtó ilyen válsághelyzetekre kellene-e koncentrálnia.

Ezt Boris Johnson brit miniszterelnök jelentette be a Reutersnek adott interjújában.
Elmondása szerint a „gabonafolyosó” feloldásának kérdése nemzetközi szinten is rendezés alatt áll.
„Sok munkánk van. Dolgozunk a törökökkel és más európai barátokkal és szövetségesekkel, hogy meglássuk, mit tehetünk” – mondta el.
London azt fontolgatja, hogy szuverén garanciákat nyújt az ukrán gabonát exportáló hajók biztosítására. Az aknamentesítési segítséggel kapcsolatos kérdésekre is pozitívan válaszolt.

Boris Johnson az ukrán gyerekeknek írt levelében Nagy-Britannia Ukrajnának nyújtott támogatásáról számolt be.
„Sokan közületek olyan dolgokat láttak vagy éltek át, melyeket nem kellett volna átélnie egyetlen gyereknek sem. De az ukrán gyerekek minden nap arra tanítanak bennünket, hogy hogyan legyünk erősek, méltóak és hogyan tudjuk emelt fővel járni a legnehezebb időszakban is. Ennél jobb követendő példát nem tudok felhozni sem gyerekeknek, sem pedig felnőtteknek” – olvashatjuk a nyílt levélben.
Az Egyesült Királyság miniszterelnöke hozzátette, hogy az ukrán gyerekeknek rendkívül büszkének kell lenniük hazájukra, szüleikre, katonáikra, és legfőképpen magukra. Arról is biztosította őket, hogy nincsenek egyedül a világon.
„Én ugyanúgy hiszek abban, hogy Ukrajna megnyeri a háborút, mint a ti elnökötök. Teljes szívemmel remélem, hogy hamarosan visszatérhettek a saját otthonotokba, iskolátokba, a családotokhoz. És bármi is történjen, bármilyen hosszú is legyen ez a folyamat, mi itt, Nagy-Britanniában, sosem feledünk titeket és mindig büszkék leszünk arra, hogy a barátainknak nevezhetünk benneteket” – zárta levelét.
Az UNICEF szerint a háború miatt kétmillió gyerek kényszerült elhagyni Ukrajnát.

Csodálatos, hogy újra fel tudja vállalni az identitásának azt a részét, ami az EU-hoz köti – nyilatkozta Stanley Johnson, miután francia állampolgár lett.
Másfél évvel az után, hogy először beszélt erről az ötletéről, megkapta a francia állampolgárságot Stanley Johnson, a brit miniszterelnök, Boris Johnson apja. Mindenképp EU-polgár akart ugyanis maradni – adta hírül a BFMTV.
Az idősebb Johnson, aki annak idején Nagy-Britannia EU-tagságára szavazott a népszavazáson, holott fia a Brexit mellett kampányolt, most azt mondta: csodálatos, hogy felvállalhatja az identitásának ezt a részét.
Az állampolgárságot azért is kaphatta meg a szokásosnál könnyebben, mert az anyja francia volt. Ő maga 1979 és 1984 között képviselő volt az Európai Parlamentben, viccelődött is azon, hogy 2024-ben elindulna a franciaországi EP-választáson, de azért gyorsan megnyugtatott mindenkit, hogy két év múlva, 84 évesen lesz ennél jobb dolga is.
Azt is elmondta, hogy a fiától egyszavas, de francia reakciót kapott az új állampolgárságára: „magnifique”.

A jelentés szerint Boris Johnson brit miniszterelnök a pénztárcák megnyitására szólított fel a licit előtt, mivel szerinte az ukrán elnöki pulóvernek jóval többet kell érnie, mint az 50 ezer fontos kikiáltási ár. Az aukció során Zelenszkij videokapcsolaton keresztül beszédet mondott, amelyben méltatta Nagy-Britanniát és miniszterelnökét, „bátor Boriszt”, aki meglátogatta őt Kijevben.
Az aukción, amelyet a Christie’s szervezett, más tételeket is felajánlottak megvételre. Köztük volt az a kakaskancsó, amelyet Johnsonnak ajándékozott egy cserkaszi járókelő, amikor a kormányfő Zelenszkijjel sétát tett az ukrán főváros központjában.
