Törökország legnagyobb ellenzéki pártjának vezetője, Kemal Kilicdaroglu szerdán késő este kijelentette, hogy nem fogja kifizetni az áramszámláit, amíg Recep Tayyip Erdogan elnök vissza nem vonja a közelmúltban végrehajtott áremeléseket, miközben országszerte az infláció növekedése miatti elégedetlenség jelei mutatkoztak – írja a Reuters.
Januárban mintegy 50 százalékot ugrott az infláció Törökországban, ennek oka pedig a líra 2021 végi földbe állása volt, amit elsősorban Erdogan alacsony kamatláb-politikája okozott. A következmény pedig a megélhetési költségek nagyfokú növekedése lett, ami igen érzékenyen érintette a lakosságot.
A kormány ugyan 50 százalékkal növelte a minimálbért, de ezzel egyidejűleg megemelte az üzemanyag, az áram és az útdíjak árát is. Január elején a villamos energia ára 125 százalékkal növekedett a vállalati felhasználók és 50 százalékkal a lakosság körében. Ezért jelentette be Kilicdaroglu, hogy nem hajlandó egészen addig villanyszámlát fizetni, amíg Erdogan elnök vissza nem vonja az áremelést tartalmazó rendeletét.
