Az ukrán fegyveres erők is csatlakoznak a második világháborús győzelem alkalmából Nagy-Britanniában tartott díszszemléhez, az ukrán hadsereg részvétele a Nyugat támogatását szimbolizálja az orosz agresszió elleni harcban – számolt be szombaton az rbc.ua hírportál a Reuters brit hírügynökségre hivatkozva.
A jelentés szerint május 6-án az ukrán fegyveres erők katonái nagyszabású katonai parádén vesznek részt Londonban az európai győzelem 80. évfordulója alkalmából, amely a második világháború alatti európai harcok végét jelzi. Az ukrán katonák mintegy ezer brit katona, lovasság és katonai zenekarok mellett vonulnak fel, ezzel is jelezve Ukrajna globális támogatottságát az orosz agresszió elleni harcában.
A jelentés szerint John Healy brit védelmi miniszter elmondta: „A második világháború óta először zajló teljes körű európai háború közepette helyénvaló, hogy az ukrán fegyveres erők, amelyek most a szabadság frontvonalán harcolnak, képviseltetik magukat a hétfői eseményen.”
Az Egyesült Királyságban, Franciaországban és az Egyesült Államokban hagyományosan május 8-án ünneplik a győzelem napját, ekkor írta alá Németország az 1945-ös kapitulációját. Oroszország, amely akkoriban a Szovjetunió részeként harcolt, május 9-én ünnepli a győzelem napját. A londoni megemlékező rendezvények részeként katonai parádét, légibemutatót és hálaadó istentiszteletet terveznek a Westminster-apátságban, amelyen várhatóan a királyi család képviselői is részt vesznek.
Ukrajna mellett az ünnepségen Ausztrália, Kanada és Új-Zéland katonái vesznek részt, akik országaik zászlaját viszik majd.
