A brit uralkodót és hitvesét, Kamillát 2300 vendég, köztük kilencven államfő jelenlétében 2023. május 6-án koronázta meg Justin Welby, Canterbury érseke, az anglikán egyház első számú vallási vezetője a londoni Westminster-apátságban, az angol–brit monarchia ősi koronázó templomában. A rendezvények központi elemei közé tartozott a Nagy Koronázási Ebédek (Coronation Big Lunches) nevű hatalmas össznépi utcabálsorozat is, amelyet országszerte a helyi lakóközösségek szerveztek többmilliós részvétellel. Hivatalos vasárnapi becslések szerint több mint 50 ezer utcabálon ünnepelték az uralkodó és felesége koronázását.
III. Károly király koronázásán spóroltak a britek
A Kulturális, Média- és Sportminisztérium nemrég közzétette az éves jelentését, melyből kiderült, hogy 90,69 millió dollárt költöttek III. Károly király és Kamilla királyné megkoronázására. A beszámoló szerint 63,37 millió dollárt költöttek az eseményre, amelyet az uralkodó Pénzügyminisztériuma finanszírozott, és 27,33 millió dollárt szántak a Belügyminisztérium rendfenntartásra. Kiderült, hogy a néhai királynő, II. Erzsébet temetésének – ami 204 millió dollár volt – közel a felét szánták fia koronázására.
Lelkiismeretesen ellenőrizték a kiadásokat, tekintettel az Egyesült Királyságban zajló megélhetési válságra, az uralkodó ezt észben tartva vissza is fogta a kiadást. A koronázási ceremónia rövidebb lett, három óra helyett csak 2 órás volt, ami a modern világnak és a szűk költségvetésnek tudható be – számolt be róla a People.
Aggódnak a király egészsége miatt
Az uralkodóról és a feleségéről is készültek képek az ausztráliai látogatásukkor még októberben, és többen is észrevették, hogy nincs minden rendben III. Károly egészségügyi állapotával, hiába engedélyezték az orvosok a kezelés szüneteltetését. Ugyan Harry és Vilmos édesapja látszólag jól van, energikus, boldog és rengeteg programon vett részt, az ajkai feltűnően duzzadtak és pirosak. Az okokról egy onkológus is megszólalt, aki szerint a kemoterápia mellékhatása lehet az elváltozás.

Az egy hete elhunyt maori király temetése előtt, csütörtökön a maorik 12 tagú tanácsa, a Tekau-maa-rua, a legfiatalabb gyermekét, egyetlen lányát, a 27 éves Nga Wai Hono i te Pót nevezte meg új uralkodóként.
A 18 évig uralkodó Tuheitia Pootatau Te Wherowhero egy szívműtét után, augusztus 30-án halt meg 69 éves korában. Nga Wai Hono i te Po a maorik nyolcadik uralkodója, és 2006-ban elhunyt nagyanyja után a második nő, aki ezt a címet viseli.
A maori uralkodói cím nem automatikusan öröklődik, de eddig minden király vagy királynő elődje közvetlen leszármazottja volt.
Az új királynőt a Te Whakawahinga ceremónián koronázták meg, miközben több tízezren gyűltek össze a néhai király temetésére. A király koporsójával kenuk flottája indult a Waikato folyón az uralkodó végső nyughelyéhez, a maorik szent hegyének, a Tupirinek a csúcsához. A folyó és a hegyhez vezető út mentén a maorik szertartásos tánccal és énekkel búcsúztatták a királyt. A király özvegyét az új-zélandi védelmi erők és száz motorból álló konvoj kísérte a szent hegyhez, ahonnan a király koporsóját koporsóvivők vitték fel a csúcsra.
„Kiingi Tuheitia alázatos vezető volt, aki bölcsességgel, manával (tekintéllyel) és a kotahitanga (egység) iránti rendíthetetlen elkötelezettséggel szolgálta népét” – fogalmazott Christopher Luxon új-zélandi kormányfő közleményében hozzáfűzve, hogy az új királynő előtt álló utat apja nagyszerű hagyatéka világítja meg. A Kiingitanga mozgalom azért hozta létre az uralkodói tisztséget 1858-ban, hogy egyesítse Új-Zéland őslakos maori törzseit a brit gyarmatosítással szemben. A maori uralkodónak nincs legális hatalma, szerepe szimbolikus és kulturális jelentőségű. Az Új-Zélandon élő 900 ezer maori az ország lakosságának 17 százalékát alkotja.

Károly koronázására készült, de az utolsó előtti angolszász király, a normann hódítás évében, 1066-ban elhunyt Hitvalló Eduárd emlékét őrzi – csak egyszer, a koronázás napján helyezik minden uralkodó fejére, utána visszaviszik a londoni Tower ősi erődjének kincstárába.
A koronázás pillanata után Welby érsek, majd az apátságban összegyűlt 2300 meghívott vendég egyszerre kiáltotta, hogy God Save the King – Isten óvja a királyt.

Az amerikai R’Bonney Gabriel lett szombat este a 71. Miss Universe. A szépségversenyt a louisianai New Orleansban tartották, a koronáért 84 nő versengett a világ minden tájáról.
Tavaly egy filippínó-amerikai nőt választottak Miss USA-nek, idén január 14-én pedig a venezuelai Amanda Dudamel és a dominikai Andreína Martínez előtt szerezte meg a Miss Universe kitüntetéssel járó koronát. Szombat este volt a verseny utolsó fordulója, a kiesésekkel szűkítették a döntősök számát két főre.
Amikor R’Bonney Gabriel bekerült az első ötbe, megkérdezték, hogyan változtatna a verseny szabályain. A Miss Universe nemrég hozott egy változtatást, amely lehetővé tette, hogy idén anyák és házas nők is versenyezhessenek. Gabriel azt válaszolta, hogy reméli, a verseny szervezői megemelik a jelöltek korhatárát.
Ami engem illet, szeretném, ha megemelnék a korhatárt, mert 28 éves vagyok és ez a maximum korhatár a versenyzéshez. A kedvenc idézetem, «ha nem most, akkor mikor?». Nőként úgy gondolom, hogy nem a korunk határoz meg minket. Nem a holnap, nem a tegnap, hanem a jelen – mondta a győztes Miss Universe.
Környezetbarát ruhákat tervez a győztes modell
A houstoni születésű R’Bonney Gabriel modell, divattervező és varrótanár, aki munkájában a környezetvédelmet helyezi előtérbe. A szépségversenyen korábban Gabriel egy vörös-narancssárga köpenyt viselt, amelyet egy felemelkedő főnix ihletett, és a „ha nem most, akkor mikor” feliratot festette rá saját kezűleg. A szavak a CNN szerint édesapja tanácsából származtak, miszerint a célok, álmok és vágyak szerint kell cselekedni.
A verseny utolsó kérdés-felelet részében a top 3 versenyzőt arról kérdezték, hogyan dolgoznának azon, hogy a Miss Universe-t mint egy erőt adó és progresszív szervezetet mutassák be, ha elnyernék a címet. Gabriel azt mondta, arra használná a platformot, hogy reformer vezető legyen, és hangsúlyozta, szenvedélye szerint a divatiparban is a jót szolgálja a környezetszennyezés csökkentésével. A ruhadarabok készítéséhez pedig újrahasznosított anyagokat használ.
„Varrótanfolyamokat tartok olyan nőknek, akik túlélték az emberkereskedelmet és a családon belüli erőszakot. Fontos, hogy befektessünk másokba, fektessünk be a közösségünkbe, és használjuk az egyedi tehetségünket, hogy változtassunk” – fogalmazott a modell.

2023. május 6-án, szombaton lesz III. Károly brit uralkodó koronázása – közölte a hírt a Buckingham-palota.
Korábban a brit sajtó még úgy értesült, hogy június 3-án lehet a koronázás, de most az uralkodó hivatala pontosította a dátumot.
Azt írták, hogy a koronázás Londonban, a westminsteri apátságban lesz, és Canterbury érseke, Justin Welby fogja levezényelni. III. Károly mellett feleségét, Kamilla királynét is megkoronázzák. Az uralkodónőt a koronázás utána „Queen Consort” (magyarul: királynő) cím fogja megilletni, saját koronája is lesz, és őt is felségnek kell majd szólítani.
A ceremónia a korábbi koronázásokhoz képest várhatóan rövidebb és egyszerűbb, amit többek között az magyaráz, hogy a legutóbbi óta – amikor II. Erzsébetet megkoronázták – már több mint hét évtized eltelt, és azóta változott a világ is.
A Buckingham-palota közleményében egész pontosan azt írták, hogy a ceremónia „az uralkodó mai szerepét fogja tükrözni, és a jövőbe mutat majd”, miközben megőrzi „a régi tradíciókat és azok pompáját” is. A Sky News ezen túl úgy értesült, hogy a brit királyi család a mostani gazdasági recesszió miatt sem szeretne túl költséges ceremóniát ez alkalommal.
Az uralkodó fejére a Szent Eduárd koronát teszik majd fel.
Ez a koronázási jelvény – a Sky News szerint – az utóbbi hatvan évben egyáltalán nem hagyta el a londoni Towert, végig ott őrizték.
A koronázás mellett III. Károlyt (és hitvesét) szent olajjal is felkenik, illetve az új uralkodót megáldja, felszenteli majd az érsek. Azt még nem tudni, hogy a koronázás hivatalos állami ünnepnap is lesz-e egyben (bár a hétvégi időpont azt sejteti a Sky News szerint, hogy nem).
Alighanem a véletlen műve, és nem érdmes túlgondolni, de a koronázás időpontja Harry herceg és Meghan hercegné fiának, Archienak a negyedik születésnapja lesz.
Arról egyébként még nincs hír, hogy a királyi család mely tagjai vesznek részt a ceremónián, vagyis az sem biztos még, hogy Harryék Angliába utaznak-e emiatt.
Rekorder
Károly édesanyját, II. Erzsébetet 1953. június 2-án koronázták meg, azon a ceremónián körülbelül 8000 hivatalos tisztviselő (köztük számos külföldi látogató) vett részt, és három órán kresztül tartott. Az alatt a koronázás alatt végigvonult a királyi család több száz éves aranyhintója is (azt még nem tudni, hogy a mostanin is fogják-e használni ezt).
Mint ismert, II. Erzsébet szeptember 8-án halt meg nyári rezidenciáján, a skóciai Balmoral-kastélyban. Halála óta hivatalosan III. Károly az ország uralkodója, de a trónöröklés, a királyi hatalomátvétel folyamatát a jövő évi koronázás fogja végleg szentesíteni.
Károly király egyébként jövő májusban, 74 éves korával, a legidősebben megkoronázott brit uralkodó is lesz, ha megkoronázzák.
Korábban az 1831-ben megkoronázott IV. Vilmos volt a rekorder, akinek jó tíz évvel fiatalabban, 64 évesen helyezték a fejére a koronát.

Erzsébet koronázásának 70. évfordulója, emiatt elképzelhető, hogy a két neves eseményt közel tartják majd egymáshoz.

Akárcsak a királynő temetésére, a koronázásra is hivatalos lehet számos állam vezetője és a brit arisztokrácia tagjai, annak ellenére, hogy ez a koronázás várhatóan lényegesen visszafogottabb esemény lesz, mint a 69 évvel ezelőtti. A Westminster-apátságban rendezendő koronázás során a csak ez alkalommal használt Szent Eduárd-koronát helyezik majd Károly fejére, de a helyszínt már a Birodalmi Állami Koronát viselve hagyhatja el.
