Volodimir Zelenszkij elnök májusban Németországba látogat, ahol átveszi a Nagy Károly-díj kitüntetést – közölte vasárnap az rbc.ua hírportál a Bild című német lapra hivatkozva.






A német kiadvány szerint az idei díjátadó ünnepségen Olaf Scholz német kancellár mond majd méltató beszédet az ukránokról és Volodimir Zelenszkij elnökről. A tervek szerint Zelenszkij személyesen látogat a németországi Aachenbe. Ez lenne az államfő első hivatalos látogatása Németországba az Oroszországi Föderáció elleni teljes körű invázió kezdete óta. Ha azonban az ukrán csapatok ellentámadásba kezdenek, Zelenszkij videokonferencia keretében fog beszélni.



A hírportál emlékeztetett arra, hogy a Nagy Károly-díjat az Európa egyesítéséhez való hozzájárulásért ítélik oda. Idén úgy döntöttek, hogy az ukrán népet és Volodimir Zelenszkijt jutalmazzák a kitüntetéssel. Németország kifejtette, hogy az ukránok nemcsak saját országukat védik, „de Európát és az európai értékeket is”.



A díjátadó ünnepséget pünkösdkor (május 18-án) kellett volna megtartani. Olaf Scholz azonban Japánba megy a G7-es csúcstalálkozóra. Ezért a rendezvényt az ezt megelőző hétvégére (május 13-14.) tették át. A Bild megjegyezte, hogy a díj a Németország és Ukrajna közötti barátság szimbólumává válhat.
