A jelentés szerint Zelenszkij elmondta: „Tegnap katasztrófa történt Zsitomir megye légterében. Három pilóta meghalt. Köztük Andrij Pilscsikov, hívójele Dzsusz. Egy ukrán tiszt, egyike azoknak, akik sokat tettek hazánk érdekében. Részvétem a családnak és a barátoknak! Mindenkinek, aki ismerte a fiúkat.”
Az elnök megjegyezte, hogy a történtek kivizsgálása folyamatban van. „Még túl korai lenne a részletekről beszélni. Természetesen minden körülmény tisztázva lesz. Természetesen Ukrajna soha nem felejt el senkit, aki védte Ukrajna égboltjának a szabadságát” – mutatott rá Volodimir Zelenszkij.
A hírportál emlékeztetett arra, hogy augusztus 25-én, az ukrán repülés napjának előestéjén két L–39-es repülőgép összeütközött a levegőben Zsitomir közelében egy harci küldetés során. A repülőgép-baleset következtében három pilóta meghalt, köztük Dzsusz.
