 A termék másfajta technológián alapszik, mint az eddig ismert koronavírus-vakcinák, és röviden SpFN-nek nevezik. Az eljárás során egy tüskeferritin-nanorészecskés vakcina készül. Az újdonságban olyan kis részecskék találhatók, amelyek több (összesen 24) különböző oldallal rendelkeznek, így pedig több variáns ellen is képes védelmet nyújtani.
 Az oltóanyagból két adagot kell beadni, 28 napos különbséggel. A főemlősökön már elvégzett, ilyen dózisú és ütemezésű kísérletek biztató eredménnyel zárultak, a vakcina ugyanis az eddigi vírusvariánsok, az alfa (a brit), a béta (a dél-afrikai), a gamma (ez a brazil) és a delta (vagyis az indiai) mutáció ellen is jól működött.
 Az Interesting Engineering hírében nem szerepel, de a Defense One azt írta, hogy a vakcinát a legújabb vírusváltozat, az omikron ellen is tesztelik, ám az ezzel kapcsolatos eredmények még nem ismertek. A készítményt közben embereken is elkezdték vizsgálni (az első ilyen fázis kezdete áprilisra tehető), habár ennek a tesztnek sem ismert még az eredménye. Ha ez nyilvános is lesz, még a 2-es és a 3-as fázist is el kell végezni, ami újabb várakozást jelent.
 A szakértők hozzátették: az emberes tesztek azért is haladnak lassabban, mert a kutatóknak olyan alanyokat kellett találniuk, akik egyrészt nem voltak beoltva, másrészt nem is kapták el a fertőzést.
