Hozzátette, azért hívta fel Putyint, mert a hozzá tartozó Starlink műholdas hálózatot az ukránok hadi célokra használják fel, ez pedig aggodalommal töltötte el. Attól tartott ugyanis, hogy Oroszország ukrán háborús erőfeszítéseinek támogatójaként tekint a Starlink-re.
2022 októberében Elon Musk arra kérte az amerikai kormányt, hogy vállalja át a Starlink ukrajnai üzemeltetésének költségeit. A Starlink műholdas termináljai ugyanis az ukránok harctéri kommunikációjában létfontosságúvá váltak, miután az orosz hadsereg többnyire megsemmisítette a hagyományos telefon- és internethálózatot. A kormány akkor úgy reagált, hogy mérlegeli az üzletember felvetését.
Az űrvállalat a háború kitörése óta biztosít műholdas internetet Ukrajnának. Tavaly októberben azonban Elon Musk aggodalmat váltott ki Kijevben és a nyugati szövetségesek körben is, miután a Kreml őt kezdte el emlegetni, ezért kérte az amerikai kormányt, hogy vállalja át a költségeket. Végül idén februárban a SpaceX blokkolta annak lehetőségét, hogy a műholdas internetkapcsolat segítségével az ukrán hadsereg drónokat vezérelhessen.

A Downing Street tájékoztatása szerint Johnson és Zelenszkij hajnalban újabb telefonbeszélgetést tartott, és a brit kormányfő elismerően szólt az ukrán nép által az orosz invázió óta tanúsított bátorságról és hősies ellenállásról. Johnson biztosította az ukrán elnököt: London mindent megtesz annak érdekében, hogy a Nagy-Britannia és szövetségesei által küldött védelmi támogatás eljusson Ukrajnába. Zelenszkij a londoni miniszterelnöki hivatal szóvivőjének beszámolója szerint döntő fontosságúnak nevezte Ukrajna szempontjából a következő 24 órás időszakot. A brit miniszterelnök és az ukrán államfő az orosz invázió kezdete óta minden nap beszélt egymással telefonon, és a hétfő hajnali beszélgetés során megállapodtak abban, hogy továbbra is szoros kapcsolatban maradnak. A tárca közleménye szerint a brit állampolgárok nem brit állampolgárságú, Ukrajnában élő rokonai ingyenesen kérhetnek családi bevándorló vízumot. A minisztérium szerint erre akkor van lehetőség, ha a kérelmező brit állampolgárral él házasságban, civil partneri viszonyban vagy élettársi kapcsolatban. Élettársi kapcsolat esetén igazolni kell, hogy e kapcsolat legalább két éve tart. A vízumszabályok könnyítése vonatkozik azokra a 18 éven aluli ukránokra is, akiknek egyik szülője brit, és azokra, akiknek van 18 évesnél fiatalabb, brit állampolgárságú gyermeke.
