A Nasdaq vállalatainak, köztük olyan tech óriásoknak, mint az Apple és a Tesla, legalább két különböző igazgatóval kell rendelkezniük, vagy meg kell magyarázniuk, hogy miért nem.
A vezetők között szerepelnie kell egy személynek, aki nőnek vallja magát, a másiknak pedig alulreprezentált kisebbségnek vagy LMBTQ+ személynek kell lennie.
Az új szabályozásra azért volt szükséges, mivel sok panasz érkezett a tőzsdére a vállalati sokszínűségének hiányáról. Egy tavalyi Nasdaq-tanulmány szerint a tőzsdén jegyzett vállalatok több mint 75%-a nem teljesítette volna a javasolt célokat. A pénzügyi piacokat szabályozó amerikai értékpapír- és tőzsdebizottság pénteken jóváhagyta a tervet, vagyis kötelező érvényű lesz.
