Rishi Sunak miniszterelnök azt fontolgatja, hogy a következő generáció számára teljes dohányzási tilalmat vezet be. Ez a világon az egyik legszigorúbb intézkedés lenne a területen.



A brit kormány vizsgálja annak lehetőségét, hogy miként lehetne bevezetni egy az Új-Zélandon tavaly hatályba lépett szisztémához hasonló rendszert. A szigetországban a dohányzási korhatárt fokozatosan emelik; a 2009. január 1-jén vagy azt követően születettek számára azonban már egyáltalán nem lehet cigarettát és dohányárut eladni – értesült a Financial Times kormányzati forrásokból.



A javaslat, amelyet először a The Guradian című brit lap szellőztetett meg, azt a célt szolgálja, hogy a kormányzó konzervatív párt visszanyerjen valamit veszni látszó népszerűségéből.



A héten Sunak heves kritikákat kapott a környezetvédelmi szervezetektől – de saját pártjából is –, miután bejelentette, hogy a robbanómotoros új autók értékesítési tilalmát 2030-ról 2035-re tolja ki a kormány.



A cigarettaeladás fiatalabb generációknak történő betiltásának ötlete valószínűleg erős ellenállásba ütközik a Konzervatív Párt liberálisabb szárnyának részéről, akik általában nem szeretik, ha az állam beleszól az állampolgárok magánéletébe. Sunak azonban igyekszik balról előzni, miután Wes Streeting, az ellenzéki Munkáspárt az év elején közölte: megvizsgálnák a cigarettaárusítás teljes betiltásának lehetőségét az új-zélandi modell alapján, és ezzel kapcsolatban társadalmi konzultációt indítanak, tesztelik a közvéleményt. Új-Zélandon az idén lépett életbe a dohányzás radikális korlátozását elrendelő törvény, amely szerint évente emelkedik a dohányzási korhatár, és a 14 év alattiak egyáltalán nem vásárolhatnak dohányterméket.



A brit lapnak nyilatkozó kormányszóvivő szerint egyre több embert szeretnénk a leszokásra rávenni, célunk, hogy 2030-ra dohányzásmentes legyen a társadalom.



Egy brit dohányzásellenes szervezet, az Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) közölte, hogy erősen támogatja a kormányzati terveket. A dohánytermékekhez jutási korhatár emelése az ASH szerint jól működik az Egyesült Államokban is, és a közvélemény is támogatja.



Egy a dohányzók érdekeit képviselő szervezet, a Forest viszont úgy ítéli meg, hogy ha az állam valóban bevezeti ezt az intézkedést, akkor a „konzervatív kormány csak nevében lesz konzervetív”, valamint „új szintre emelik a dajkaállamot”. Simon Clark, a szervezet képviselője szerint a cigaretta eladásának megtiltása nem szünteti meg a dohányzást, az illegalitás a szervezett bűnözés hatókörébe tolja a dohánytermékek kereskedelmét.

Sunak felkérte a kormány minisztereit, hogy hozzák össze a rendőrséget és a kutyaszakértőket, hogy jogilag meghatározzák az amerikai XL Bully jellemzőit.



A brit Kennel Club vagy az amerikai Kennel Club nem ismerik el önálló fajtaként az állatot.



„Ez jelenleg nem egy törvényben meghatározott fajta, ezért ennek a létfontosságú első lépésnek gyorsan meg kell történnie. A nagy-britanniai Kent megyében található katonai támaszponton csökkentették az ukrán katonai kiképzések számát, miután a helyi lakosok panaszkodtak a lövöldözések során keletkező zaj miatt, számolt be a The Times.



A kiadvány információja szerint a brit védelmi minisztérium a lakosok a robbanások okozta zaj és a füst miatti felháborodása folytán kénytelen volt harmadára csökkenteni a gyakorlatok számát a Lydda gyakorlótéren.







A cikk szerint a lakosok levelet küldtek Lydd városi tanácsának, és intézkedések meghozatalára szólítottak fel. Miután a panaszokat jelentették a Honvédelmi Minisztériumnak, a minisztérium beleegyezett a zajszint korlátozásába és a gyakorlatok számának 30 százalékos csökkentésébe.



Mark Powell alezredes, a bázis parancsnoka kifejtette, hogy szoros kapcsolatot szeretne fenntartani a helyi lakosokkal, akik arra panaszkodnak, hogy ablakaik zörögnek, házaik rezegnek a robbanásoktól.



Vannak azonban olyanok is, akik megértőek a gyakorlatokat illetően. A 80 éves June Beaumont, aki 35 éve él néhány méterre a katonai bázistól, hangsúlyozta: az ukránok hazájukat védik, és nincs értelme képzetlen embereket hadba küldeni.

A brit hadsereg 900 ukrán ejtőernyőst képzett ki hadműveletekre, támogatva Kijev azon erőfeszítéseit, hogy rajtaütéseket hajtson végre a Dnyipron keresztül az oroszok által megszállt területekre, míg az ukrán honvédeket a Challenger 2 harckocsik üzemeltetésére képezték ki.

A jelentés szerint Grant Shepps brit védelmi miniszter megerősítette a Challenger 2 harckocsi kilövését Ukrajnában. Megjegyezte, hogy ez „harci övezetben” történhetett. Egyúttal hangsúlyozta, hogy Nagy-Britannia nem fogja pótolni a megsemmisült harckocsit.



Kedden megjelent az interneten egy videó, amelyen a Challenger 2-höz hasonló harckocsi látható lángokban. Médiaforrások arról számoltak be, hogy a harckocsi aknán robbanhatott fel, ami tüzet okozott a hátsó üzemanyagtartályban.



Brit szakértők ugyanakkor jelezték, hogy az üzemanyagtartály nagyon jó védelemmel rendelkezik. Az egyik nyugati védelmi ügynökség a BBC-nek megjegyezte, hogy a négyfős legénység életben maradt.



Nagy-Britannia az elsők között csatlakozott az Ukrajna által létrehozott harckocsi-koalícióhoz. A britek Challenger 2 harckocsikkal látták el az ukrán védőket. Ismeretes, hogy az ukrán fegyveres erők 14 darabot kaptak ebből a harci járműből. Ezek a harckocsik akár 10 kilométeres távolságból is eltalálhatnak célokat, és éjszakai irányzékkal és lézeres távolságmérővel is rendelkeznek.

Nagy-Britannia 2020. január 31-én kilépett az Európai Unióból. Azok az EU-polgárok azonban, akik 2020 végéig, a brit EU-tagság megszűnése (Brexit) után kezdődött 11 hónapos átmeneti időszak lejártáig törvényesen és életvitelszerűen letelepedtek Nagy-Britanniában, továbbra is maradhatnak megszerzett összes jogosultságuk megtartásával, de ehhez meghatározatlan időre szóló tartózkodási engedélyért – hivatalos jogi elnevezéssel európai uniós letelepedett státusért (EU Settled Status) – kell folyamodniuk.



Ugyanez vonatkozik az EU, Izland, Norvégia és Liechtenstein alkotta szélesebb Európai Gazdasági Térség (EGT), valamint Svájc Nagy-Britanniában letelepedett állampolgáraira.



A Nagy-Britanniában életvitelszerűen eltöltött időtől függően a jogosultak teljes körű (settled), illetve előzetes (pre-settled) letelepedett státust kapnak.
Az utóbbit azok szerezhetik meg, akik a benyújtás idején még nem töltöttek el öt évet törvényesen és életvitelszerűen Nagy-Britanniában. A jelenlegi szabályozás alapján ők is megvárhatják az öt év leteltét, és utána folyamodhatnak a végleges tartózkodási engedélyért. Az addig eltelő időszakban őket is maradéktalanul megilletik megszerzett jogosultságaik.



A brit belügyminisztérium által hétfőn ismertetett módosítási javaslat alapján azonban az újabb kérvényezés kötelezettsége az ő esetükben is hamarosan megszűnik. A londoni felsőbíróság ugyanis a Nagy-Britanniában élő EU-állampolgárok érdekvédelmi szervezeteinek keresetére az év elején a Brexit-megállapodással ellentétesnek minősítette, hogy az előzetes letelepedett státusú uniós állampolgároknak újból a brit hatóságokhoz kell folyamodniuk a végleges letelepedési engedélyért.



A keresetet benyújtó érdekképviseleti szervezetek szerint ez a kötelezettség azzal a veszéllyel jár, hogy akik az újbóli kérvényezést bármilyen okból elmulasztják – például egyszerűen elfelejtik -, egyik pillanatról a másikra illegális bevándorlóknak minősülhetnek és a brit kormány kitoloncolhatja őket.



Ennek megelőzésére – a londoni felsőbíróság végzésének megfelelően – a brit belügyminisztérium hétfőn közölte, hogy a törvénymódosítás nyomán minden külön intézkedési kötelezettség nélkül két évvel meghosszabbodik a teljes körű, végleges letelepedett státus megszerzéséhez rendelkezésre álló idő azok számára, akik előzetes letelepedett státusuk lejárta után – vagyis az öt év elteltével – sem folyamodtak személyesen a végleges letelepedési engedélyért.



A folyamat automatikus, a minisztérium az érintetteket közvetlenül értesíti a meghosszabbításról.



Mindez biztosítja, hogy senki ne veszítse el nagy-britanniai előzetes letelepedett státusát akkor sem, ha elmulasztja a végleges letelepedett státus kérvényezését – áll a belügyminisztérium hétfői ismertetésében.



A tájékoztatás szerint a tárca lépéseket tesz annak érdekében is, hogy a lehető legtöbb esetben automatikussá váljon az előzetes letelepedett státus átminősítése végleges letelepedési engedéllyé az erre jogosultak számára, vagyis megszűnik az újabb kérvényezési kötelezettség.



A londoni belügyminisztérium 2024-ben automatikusan ellenőzi, hogy mindazok, akik előzetes letelepedett státust kaptak, továbbra is folyamatosan Nagy-Britanniában élnek-e, és a tárca biztosítékokat épít be a rendszerbe annak érdekében, hogy jogosultság nélkül ne lehessen megszerezni a végleges letelepedett státust – áll a szakminisztérium hétfői tájékoztatásában.



A tárca legutóbbi összesítése szerint az idei első negyedév végéig 7,22 millió letelepedési kérelem érkezett a brit hatóságokhoz az EU-állampolgárok részéről.



A lista élén a román állampolgárok álltak 1,48 millió folyamodvánnyal, a Nagy-Britanniában élő magyarok közül március végéig 174 910-en kérelmeztek letelepedett státust a brit belügyminisztériumtól.

A legfrissebb felmérés szerint hét évvel a brit EU-tagságról rendezett – a kilépést támogatók győzelmével végződött – népszavazás után többségben vannak azok, akik egy újabb referendum esetén Nagy-Britannia újbóli EU-csatlakozására voksolnának.



Nagy-Britannia 2020. január 31-én távozott az Európai Unióból, miután az uniós tagságról éppen hét éve, 2016. június 23-án rendezett népszavazáson a kilépésre voksolók kerültek szűk, 51,89 százalékos többségbe.



Az uniós tagság megszűnése utáni 11 hónapos átmeneti időszak lejártával, 2020 végén az ország az EU egységes belső piacáról és vámuniójából is kilépett. A konzervatív párti brit kormány ugyanis nem akarta teljesíteni azokat a feltételeket – mindenekelőtt az EU-állampolgárok szabad nagy-britanniai letelepedésének és munkavállalásának jogát –, amelyek e két integrációs szerveződéshez elválaszthatatlanul kötődnek.







A Tony Blair Institute for Global Change nevű politikai-közéleti elemzőműhely – amelyet Tony Blair volt brit miniszterelnök, a legnagyobb brit ellenzéki erő, a Munkáspárt egykori vezetője alapított – a referendum csütörtöki évfordulójára elvégzett országos felmérésében kimutatta, hogy a brit választók 53 százaléka tartja rossz döntésnek a kilépést az EU-ból, és mindössze 34 százalék gondolja ma is helyénvaló lépésnek a Brexitet.



A felméréshez fűzött elemzésében a ház kiemeli: az átrendeződés egyrészt annak az eredménye, hogy azok közül, akik 2016-ban a kilépésre voksoltak, 18 százalék most már elhibázottnak tartja Nagy-Britannia távozását az EU-ból, másrészt annak, hogy az időközben – koruk alapján – választásra jogosulttá vált fiatalok hozzáállása markánsabban EU-párti az országos átlagnál.



A Blair-intézet kutatása kimutatta azt is, hogy ha „most” újabb népszavazást tartanának arról, hogy Nagy-Britannia maradjon az EU-n kívül, vagy lépjen vissza az unióba, a brit választók 51 százaléka az újbóli EU-csatlakozásra voksolna, és csak 36 százalék adná szavazatát a kívül maradásra.



A felmérés szerint a brit választók 78 százaléka szeretné, ha hazája szorosabbra fűzné kapcsolatait az EU-val – például úgy, hogy visszalép az unió egységes belső piacára -, és alig 7 százalék válaszolta azt, hogy megfelelőnek tartja Nagy-Britannia és az Európai Unió jelenlegi viszonyrendszerét.



A legnagyobb brit közvéleménykutató cég, a YouGov ugyancsak a népszavazás hetedik évfordulójára elvégzett, csütörtökön ismertetett felmérésében azt mutatta ki, hogy a britek 40 százaléka „szégyellnivalónak” tartja a Brexitet, és csak 24 százalék adott kifejezést annak a véleményének, hogy büszkeségre ad okot a brit kilépés az EU-ból.



A Munkáspárt a legfrissebb felmérések szerint kétszámjegyű támogatottsági előnyben van a konzervatívokkal szemben, de a pártvezetés jelenlegi álláspontja alapján akkor sem lehetne számítani Nagy-Britannia újbóli EU-csatlakozására, ha a Labour a jövőre esedékes parlamenti választások után kormányra kerül.



Sir Keir Starmer, a Munkáspárt vezetője és miniszterelnök-jelöltje a Daily Express című radikálisan EU-szkeptikus brit napilapnak írt minapi cikkében leszögezte, hogy Nagy-Britannia számára nincs visszaút sem az EU-ba, sem az Európai Unió egységes belső piacára és vámuniójába.



Starmer kizárta annak lehetőségét is, hogy Nagy-Britannia újból érvényesítse az emberek szabad mozgásához és letelepedéséhez fűződő európai uniós szabadságjogot.



A munkáspárti vezető nem sokkal korábban, a BBC brit közszolgálati televíziónak nyilatkozva szintén úgy fogalmazott, hogy Nagy-Britannia számára nincs visszaút az Európai Unióba. Hozzátette: az ország a népszavazáson meghozta döntését, azóta ki is lépett az EU-ból, és „erre a helyzetre kell működőképes megoldást találni”.

Először ünnepelték meg szombaton Londonban a hagyományos katonai pompával a brit uralkodó, III. Károly király „hivatalos” születésnapját.







Az utóbbi hetven évben Károly néhai édesanyja, II. Erzsébet királynő tiszteletére rendezték meg minden júniusban a nagyszabású és díszes ceremóniát, ám ő tavaly szeptember 8-án, életének 97., uralkodásának 71. esztendejében elhunyt.



Halálának pillanata óta elsőszülött fia, Károly egykori trónörökös az Egyesült Királyság uralkodója, és most először fogadta ő a felvonuló díszalakulatok tisztelgését.

Ezt a katonai parádét mindig júniusban rendezik, jóllehet a valós születésnap II. Erzsébet királynő esetében április 21. volt, III. Károly pedig november 14-én ünnepli 75. születésnapját.

A Trooping the Colour – a csapatzászlók ceremoniális bemutatása a hadsereg alakulatainak – 1748 óta a mindenkori uralkodó születésnapjának ünnepsége. Azt azonban, hogy a hivatalos királyi születésnap mindig nyáron legyen, VII. Eduárd király, Viktória királynő fia honosította meg a múlt század első évtizedében.







VII. Eduárd születésnapja szintén novemberben volt, amikor a brit időjárás általában alkalmatlan bármiféle nagyszabású szabadtéri rendezvény megtartására, ezért helyezték át a júniusi időpontra a hivatalos ünnepséget. Ez a szokás azóta is megmaradt. Az elgondolás ezúttal is bevált: London népe szombaton kellemes kora nyári napsütéses időben köszönthette új uralkodóját.







A Trooping the Colour ceremóniája annak a régi katonai gyakorlatnak a stilizált felidézése, amellyel az egyes alakulatok zászlait és jelképeit, vagyis színeit (colour) rendszeresen végighordozták a katonák (troops) előtt, akik így a csata zűrzavarában is könnyen felismerhették, hogy mely színek alatt kellett szükség esetén gyülekezniük.

A király az idei parádéra régi hagyományt elevenített fel, ugyanis lóháton érkezett a Buckingham-palotából a Mall sugárúton a királyi lovastestőrség laktanyájához, amelynek parkjában csaknem másfélezer katona díszszemlével tisztelgett előtte.

II. Erzsébet királynő 1986-ig – 60 éves koráig – szintén lóháton tette meg a palota és a gárdisták laktanyája közötti egy mérföldet, a következő évben azonban 1969 óta szolgáló kedvenc lova, Burmese visszavonult az aktív szolgálattól, és azután a néhai uralkodó minden évben hintón hajtatott végig a Mall sugárúton.

Több mint négy évtizede, 1981 júniusában komoly biztonsági incidens zavarta meg a ceremóniát: a lóháton érkező királynőre egy fiatal férfi a tömegből hat lövést adott le, de a fegyverben vaktöltények voltak. A Marcus Sarjeant nevű lövöldözőt annak idején öt év börtönre ítélték, de három év letöltése után szabadult. III. Károly szombaton rendezett első hivatalos születésnapi ünnepsége zavartalanul lezajlott.

Az uralkodó – akit május 6-án koronáztak meg a londoni Westminster-apátságban – a szombati születésnapi ünnepség végén, a Buckingham-palota teraszán, családtagjai társaságában üdvözölte a tiszteletére összegyűlt több tízezres tömeget, majd megtekintette a ceremóniát záró nagyszabású légiparádét, amelyet a légierő, a haditengerészet és a hadsereg hetven repülőgépe és helikoptere mutatott be, kötelékekben átrepülve a palota felett.

Hamarosan a Nagy-Britanniába történő beutazáshoz elektronikus beutazási engedélyt (Electronic Travel Authorisation, ETA) kell igényelniük azoknak is, akik jelenleg vízum nélkül utazhatnak az országba – adta hírül a turizmus.com.



A kötelezettség elsőként a Katarból beutazókra lesz érvényes 2023. november közepétől. 2024. február 24-től Bahrein, Jordánia, Kuvait, Omán, Szaúd-Arábia és az Egyesült Arab Emírségek állampolgárai számára lesz kötelező az ETA, az év további részében pedig az összes többi olyan ország – így az EU-tagállamok – esetében is bevezetik a rendszert, amelynek állampolgárai jelenleg vízummentesen léphetnek be Nagy-Britanniába.







Az engedély két évig lesz érvényes, ez alatt az idő alatt tetszőleges gyakorisággal be lehet majd utazni vele az Egyesült Királyságba. Ha a beutazó útlevele időközben lejár, új engedélyt kell igényelnie. Az engedély megléte azonban nem fogja garantálni, hogy az utazó be is léphet az országba.



A brit kormány tájékoztatása szerint nem lesz szükségük az engedélyre azoknak, akik brit vagy ír útlevéllel, vagy az Egyesült Királyságban életvitelszerű tartózkodásra, munkavállalásra vagy tanulásra szóló engedéllyel rendelkeznek, vagy vízummal lépnek be az országba.



Az engedélyt online formában vagy applikáción keresztül lehet majd megigényelni, nemcsak a felnőtteknek, hanem a gyerekeknek is.



A brit kormány múlt heti közlése szerint az engedély 10 angol fontba, kb. 465 hrivnyába kerül majd.

Tavaly mintegy ötven százalékkal többször diagnosztizáltak gonorreát Angliában, mint egy évvel korábban és az összesen 82592 eset új rekordot jelent a statisztikai adatgyűjtés 1918-as kezdete óta, írja a Sky News az Egyesült Királyság Egészségügyi Biztonsági Ügynökségének (UKHSA) beszámolója alapján.



A jelentés szerint hasonlóan riasztó a helyzet egy másik, szintén közismert nemi úton terjedő betegség, a szifilisz esetében is, amelynek tavalyi 8692-es esetszáma a legmagasabb a második világháború óta a szigetországban.



Szakértők szerint a fenti növekedés csak részben magyarázható azzal, hogy az utóbbi években egyre többen vesznek részt szűrővizsgálatokon, ugyanis a háttérben részben az állhat, hogy a 15 és 24 év körüli fiatalok gyakrabban váltogatják szexuális partnereiket és sokszor nem használnak óvszert, amely jelentősen csökkenthetné a szexuális úton terjedő betegségek fertőzési kockázatát.



Dr. Hamish Mohammed az egészségügyi szervezet epidemiológusa felhívja a figyelmet, hogy akik gyakran váltogatják partnereiket, esetleg többször szeretkeznek alkalmi partnerrel, azoknak még akkor is érdemes részt venni az egészségügyi szűréseken, ha nem tapasztalják magukon a szexuális úton terjedő betegségek tüneteit, mert ezek általában könnyen kezelhetők antibiotikumokkal, ám például a gonorrea és a chlamydia súlyos egészségügyi problémákat, egyebek mellett meddőséget és kismedencei gyulladásos betegségeket okozhatnak.



David Fothergill, a Helyi Önkormányzati Szövetség közösségi jóléti testületének elnöke szerint a most nyilvánosságra hozott statisztikák azt mutatják, hogy az önkormányzatok által megbízott szexuális egészségügyi szolgáltatók túlterhelésnek vannak kitéve és a rendszer fenntarthatatlanná válhat a költségvetési támogatások növelése nélkül.
