Mint arról korábban beszámoltunk, az Egyesült Királyság nemrég jelentette be, hogy Challenger 2 harckocsikat szállít Ukrajnának. Rishi Sunak miniszterelnök szóvivője ezzel kapcsolatban azt mondta, hogy a harckocsik és más tüzérségi rendszerek felajánlása az Egyesült Királyság azon törekvésének a jele, hogy fokozza Ukrajnának nyújtott támogatását.

Az Egyesült Királyság a jövő héten megkezdi az ukrán katonák kiképzését az Ukrajnába küldött harckocsik használatára és karbantartására – jelentette be csütörtökön Alex Chalk brit politikus a Sky News információi szerint.
A brit kormány múlt hét elején közölte, hogy Challenger 2 harckocsikat és AS90 típusú nagy méretű önjáró lövegeket küld az ukrán hadseregnek. A Sky News szerint március végén küldik a harckocsikat.
Chalk emellett üdvözölte a német és az amerikai kormány bejelentését, miszerint harckocsikat küldenek Ukrajnába, és hozzátette: „Egységes elhatározásunk döntőnek bizonyulhat. 2023-ban elszántabbak leszünk, mint valaha. Támogatni fogjuk Ukrajnát, amíg csak szükséges.”

Az Egyesült Királyság bejelentette, hogy a műanyagszennyezés csökkentésére és a tengeri környezet védelmére irányuló törekvés részeként októbertől betiltja az egyszer használatos műanyag evőeszközöket és tányérokat Angliában.
Az új szabályok értelmében a kiskereskedők és éttermek nem árusíthatnak egyszer használatos műanyag tányérokat, tálcákat és léggömbtartó pálcákat, illetve bizonyos típusú polisztirol poharakat és ételtárolókat – mondta Thérèse Coffey környezetvédelmi miniszter. A skót és a walesi decentralizált kormány már tett hasonló lépéseket.
A döntés része annak a szélesebb körű törekvésnek, hogy megvédjük a környezetet azáltal, hogy visszaszorítjuk a vidéket és az óceánokat károsító hulladékot, továbbá csökkentjük a műanyagok gyártásából és selejtezéséből származó üvegházhatású gázok kibocsátását.
“Mindannyian tudjuk, hogy a műanyag milyen pusztító hatással lehet a környezetünkre és az élővilágra” – mondta Coffey. “Az eldobható műanyagokra vonatkozó új tilalmak folytatják a környezet védelmében végzett létfontosságú munkánkat a jövő generációi számára” – fejtette ki a miniszter.

Az államtitkár rendkívül aggasztónak nevezte a történteket, hangsúlyozta ugyanakkor: nem találkozott arra utaló bizonyítékokkal, hogy a gyerekeket elrabolták volna. Az ügy előzményeként az Observer című hétvégi brit hetilap azt írta, hogy az eltűnt gyerekek közül többtucatnyit a dél-angliai Brightonban, a kormány által menedékkérők számára fenntartott szállodák elől, illetve a déli partvidék más helyszínein az utcáról raboltak el embercsempész bandák.
A lap forrásai szerint csak az egyik dél-angliai szállodában hatszáz, szülők és gondviselő nélkül érkezett gyermek fordult meg az utóbbi 18 hónapban, közülük 136-nak az eltűnéséről érkezett bejelentés a hatóságokhoz. Az Observerhez eljutott adatok szerint az ebből a szállodából eltűnt gyerekeknek több mint fele, 79 azóta sem került elő.
A lap forrása közölte, hogy látta, amint a szálloda előtti utcaszakaszon ismeretlenek autókba tuszkoltak gyerekeket. A belügyminisztérium szóvivője cáfolta, hogy a gyerekeket elrabolták volna, mondván: a fiatalok szabadon távozhatnak szálláshelyükről. Keddi alsóházi felszólalásában Robert Jenrick államtitkár is úgy fogalmazott, hogy nem tártak elé olyan bizonyítékokat, amelyek a gyerekek elrablására utalnának.

Az űrkorszak kezdete óta első ízben próbáltak műholdakat földkörüli pályára állítani Nagy-Britannia területéről, a manőver azonban egyelőre nem részletezett meghibásodás miatt nem sikerült.
A kilenc műholdat Sir Richard Branson milliárdos brit nagyvállalkozó Virgin Group nevű vállalatbirodalmának műholdak felbocsátására szakosodott részlege, a Virgin Orbit indította a világűr felé kedd hajnalban.
Branson vállalata nem a hagyományos módszerrel, vagyis szárazföldi űrközpontokból, hanem egy, a célra átalakított egykori utasszállító repülőgép szárnya alól indítja a műholdakat szállító rakétáit.
Az ilyen jellegű felbocsátásokat a cég eddig Amerikában hajtotta végre. A Cosmic Girl nevű 21 éves Boeing 747-400-as repülőgép – amely korábban az ugyancsak Branson vállalatcsoportjához tartozó Virgin Atlantic légitársaság flottájának tagja volt – keddre virradó éjjel azonban a délnyugat-angliai Cornwall megye Newquay városának repülőteréről szállt fel a bal szárnyának tövében elhelyezett 25 tonnás rakétával.
A felszállásra kétezer ember gyűlt össze a repülőtér mellett, és a Boeing úját rekordszámú, a repülés egyes szakaszaiban csaknem negyedmillió érdeklődő kísérte figyelemmel világszerte a Flightradar24 online járatkövető alkalmazáson.
A gép nyugati irányban repült, amíg 35 ezer láb – 10 900 méter – magasságban el nem érte az Ír Köztársaság délnyugati partjainak közelében kijelölt indítási zónát.
Ezt az övezetet a brit, az ír, a francia és a spanyol légügyi hatóságok már az indítás előtt közös felügyelet alá vonták és lezárták a polgári légiforgalom elől.
A LauncherOne nevű rakétát a Boeing ebből a térségből indította a világűr felé.
A kidolgozott pályaterv alapján a rakéta 555 kilométeres magasságban kezdte volna pályára állítani a kilenc műholdat.
A Virgin Orbit azonban a Twitteren kedd hajnalban közzétett – érdemi részleteket nem tartalmazó – tájékoztatásában közölte: a jelek szerint valamilyen anomália megakadályozta a földkörüli pálya elérését.
A cég hozzátette, hogy tanulmányozza a beérkező információkat.
A repülőgép, amely a rakétát az indítási zónába szállította, időközben biztonságban leszállt ugyanazon a délnyugat-angliai repülőtéren, ahonnan indult.
A Virgin Orbit első felbocsátása 2020 májusában szintén kudarccal végződött, a következő négy azonban sikeres volt.

Steve Barclay brit egészségügyi miniszter szombati nyilatkozatában kiegyensúlyozott, elővigyázatossági jellegű és átmeneti intézkedésnek nevezte a döntést.
A tárca ismertetése szerint január 5-től a Kínából közvetlen repülőjáratokkal Angliába érkezőknek indulásuk előtt kell elvégeztetniük a koronavírus-szűrést, és a leletet beszállás előtt fel kell mutatniuk.
A tesztelési előírás csak a Kínából közvetlenül angliai repülőterekre érkező utasokra vonatkozik. Az Egyesült Királyság többi országába – Skóciába, Walesbe és Észak-Írországba – nem közlekednek közvetlen repülőjáratok Kínából, de a brit kormány szombaton közölte: tárgyal a helyi kormányzatokkal annak elérése végett, hogy a Kínából érkezők tesztelési kötelezettsége az egész országra kiterjedjen.
Kínában december elején, röviddel a szigorú rendszabályok elleni tüntetések után jórészt feloldották a koronavírus-járvány megfékezésére elrendelt járványügyi korlátozásokat. Több városban ismét kinyithattak az éttermek, a bevásárlóközpontok és az iskolák, és számos térségben felhagytak az addig kötelező tömeges tesztelésekkel is.
A fertőződések száma azóta egybehangzó értesülések szerint gyorsan emelkedik, bár a hivatalos és a külföldi szakértők, sajtóorgánumok által idézett adatok között óriási a különbség.
A Financial Times című londoni üzleti napilap karácsonyi kiadásában kiemelte, hogy a kínai országos közegészségügyi bizottság hivatalosan közzétett nyilvános adatai szerint csak 62 592 koronavírus-fertőződés történt december első három hetében. A brit lap azonban a kínai hatóságok nem nyilvános becsléseit ismerő forrásait idézve azt írta, hogy valójában 250 millió ember, a teljes kínai lakosság 18 százaléka lehetett koronavírus-fertőzött december első húsz napjában.
A BBC brit közszolgálati médiatársaság szombati helyzetértékelése szerint a kínai hatóságok naponta ötezer új koronavírus-fertőzéses esetről számolnak be, külföldi szakértők azonban úgy tartják, hogy a tényleges napi fertőződési esetszám közelebb járhat az egymillióhoz.
A kínai kormány azonban bejelentette, hogy január 8-tól feloldja a külföldi utazási korlátozásokat.
Nagy-Britannia mellett több más ország – köztük az Amerikai Egyesült Államok, Franciaország, India, Izrael, Spanyolország és Dél-Korea – is tesztelési kötelezettséget vezetett be a Kínából beutazókra.
Brit szakértők szerint ugyanakkor a teszteléshez kötött beutazási feltétel aligha lesz hatékony megelőzési módszer.
Sir Andrew Pollard, a brit kormány számára oltásügyi ajánlásokat kidolgozó független tanácsadó bizottság (JCVI) elnöke a BBC-nek nyilatkozva szombaton valószínűtlennek nevezte, hogy az új korlátozásokkal távol lehet tartani Nagy-Britanniától az esetleges új koronavírus-variánsokat.
Pollard professzor – aki az Oxfordi Egyetem vakcinafejlesztő részlegének vezetőjeként az egyetem és az AstraZeneca brit-svéd gyógyszergyár koronavírus-vakcinájának kifejlesztését is irányította – kijelentette: a korábbi utazási tilalmak sem akadályozták meg a vírust abban, hogy „körbeutazza a világot”.

A német Vallon cég által gyártott fémdetektorok segíthetnek a csapatoknak az útvonalak megtisztításában, mivel segítenek a robbanásveszély elhárításában – közölte a védelmi minisztérium.

A szakszervezetnek májusig van felhatalmazása sztrájkok szervezésére, amennyiben a kormány nem hajlik a megegyezésre – mondta a szakszervezet vezetője.
„Akár hat hónapos is lehet a munkabeszüntetés, ha a kormány nem tárgyal” – hangsúlyozta Mark Serwotka, aki utalt rá, hogy más közalkalmazottak is beszüntethetik a munkát, mert béremelést követelnek a rekordot döntögető infláció miatt.
Rishi Sunak miniszterelnök a fenyegetésre így válaszolt: „csökkentjük az inflációt, amely részben kiváltja a sztrájkokat.” A politikus az is hozzátette azonban: „ő mindent megtett a közszolgálati dolgozók fizetéséért, de a kormány lehetőségei korlátozottak.”
A polgári útlevélkezelők munkáját a sztrájkok idején katonákkal pótolják. A hadsereg bónuszt fizet azoknak, akik a repülőtereken dolgoznak. Napi 20 font jár nekik a karácsonyi, illetve a szilveszteri műszakért.
A legnagyobb repülőtéren, Heathrow-n a csomagkezelő dolgozók szakszervezete lefújta a sztrájkot a szilveszteri hétvégére, mert elfogadta a kormány ajánlatát.
Sztrájkhullám várható
A repülőtéri útlevélkezelők szakszervezetének vezetője nem a levegőbe beszélt, amikor nagyszabású munkabeszüntetéssel fenyegette meg a kormányt. A BBC hosszú listát állított össze azokról a területekről, ahol hosszabb-rövidebb időre sztrájkok várhatók:
- a postások és a vasutasok már karácsonykor is beszüntették a munkát, és további akciókat készítenek elő;
- a sztrádaellenőrök egy része sem dolgozik tiltakozásul az alacsony bérek miatt;
- a mentősök is beszüntetik a munkát Angliában és Walesben, a kórházi nővérek Angliában, Walesben és Észak-Írországban sztrájkolnak;
- egyes helyeken a buszsofőrök sem dolgoznak;
- Skóciában tanár sztrájk van.
Nagyon nehéz tájékozódni, mert sok szakszervezet van, ezért nem könnyű kiszámítani, hogy a munkabeszüntetés miképp érinti a szolgáltatásokat. A BBC mindenkinek azt tanácsolja, hogy mielőtt útnak indul, alaposan tájékozódjon.

Nagy-Britannia több mint 15 ezer készlet téli egyenruhát és mintegy 900 áramfejlesztő generátort küldött Ukrajnába, és adott át az ukrán hadseregnek – közölte vasárnap az ukrán fegyveres erők vezérkari főnöksége a Facebook-oldalán, adta hírül az rbc.ua hírportál.
A jelentés szerint a vezérkari főnökség azt írta: „az Nagy-Britannia több mint 900 generátort adományozott Ukrajnának, és körülbelül 15 000 téli egyenruha készletet küldött az ukrán fegyveres erőknek extrém hideg időjárás esetére, de a szállítmány tartalmazott nehéz hálózsákokat és bélelt sátrakat is.” További 10 000 téli készlet szállítására készülünk még karácsonyig – jelezte Ben Wallace brit védelmi miniszter.
Mint hírportálunk szeptember 20-án beszámolt róla, Liz Truss akkori brit miniszterelnök bejelentette, hogy Nagy-Britannia 2023-ban legalább 2,63 milliárd dollár értékű katonai támogatás nyújtását tervezi Ukrajna számára.Nagy-Britannia egy új, 63 millió dolláros katonai segélycsomagot jelentett be Kijevnek Ukrajna függetlenségének a napján.
