Egyre nagyobb gondokat okoznak Nagy-Britanniában az elszálló energiaárak, az előrejelzések szerint katasztrófa felé halad a lakosság: a téli hónapok kegyetlennek ígérkeznek a már most megfizethetetlen áram- és fűtésszámlák miatt.
Ebbe a felfokozott hangulatba csapódott be bombaként legutóbbi megnyilvánulásával Boris Johnson. Az épp távozófélben lévő miniszterelnök azt találta mondani Suffolkban, egy rendezvényen, hogy a legjobb megoldás a spórolásra, ha a britek vesznek egy új teáskannát.
Ha az öreg kannával évekig tart felforralni a vizet, akkor alig húsz fontért lehet venni újat, ezzel évente 10 font is megspórolható az áramszámlán – mondta Johnson az Independent című lap szerint.
A közösségi oldalakon természetesen azonnal kiakadtak Johnson üzenetén, és rengetegen otrombának és érzéketlennek bélyegezték a kormányfőt, szóvá téve, hogy sokra nem mennek 10 fontnyi spórolással, amikor évente 4 ezer fontot kell fizetniük rezsire.

A Nagy-Britanniába az orosz invázió kezdete óta érkezett ukrán bevándorlók több mint 40%-a vállalt már munkát – áll az Országos Statisztikai Hivatal (ONS) jelentésében.
A felmérés adatai szerint a Nagy-Britanniában dolgozó ukrán állampolgárok aránya az áprilisi 9%-ról 42%-ra, a bankszámlával rendelkezőké pedig 93%-ra emelkedett az áprilisi 43%-ról. A válaszadók körülbelül 37%-a elmondta, van elég pénze az elkövetkezendő három hónapra.
A válaszadók csaknem fele (47%) kijelentette, legalább egy évig az Egyesült Királyságban maradna, 28%-uk pedig legalább három évre tervezi.
Azon ukránok körében, akik az Egyesült Királyságon kívül szereztek képesítést, 43%-a azt mondta, amikor az állásra jelentkeztek, a brit munkaadók többnyire nem ismerték el képesítésüket.
A válaszadók csaknem fele (47%) azt mondta, hogy akadályba ütközött a munkavállalás előtt. A leggyakrabban a munkaköri követelményeknek nem megfelelő angol nyelvtudás (58%), az Egyesült Királyságban nem elismert vagy nem érvényes végzettség (33%), illetve a készségeiknek nem megfelelő állást találtak a válaszadók (24%).

Sajtóértesülések szerint a Ház az ukránoknak kormányzati program hamarosan megszűnik azon ukrajnai bevándorlók számára, akik több mint hat hónapja tartózkodtak Nagy-Britannia területén.
A kormány köztudottan havi 350 fontot fizet azoknak, akik beleegyeztek, hogy ukránokat fogadnak be házukba. A vezetőség azonban jelenleg nem kívánja meghosszabbítani a programot, illetve további támogatási intézkedéseket sem hirdet az ilyen szponzorok számára.
A kormány adatai szerint mintegy 84 ezren tartózkodnak Nagy-Britanniában a március óta működő Ház az ukránoknak program keretében.

A nagy-britanniai gyakorlótereken 2,4 ezer ukrán katonát képeztek ki – jelentette be Olekszij Hromov, az ukrán fegyveres erők vezérkara hadműveleti főosztályának vezetőhelyettese. Elmondása szerint jelenleg további 5000 katona kiküldését tervezik, számolt be az UNN.
„A Nagy-Britannia és Ukrajna közötti megállapodások értelmében katonáink kiképzése folytatódik a brit gyakorlóterepeken. A mai adatok szerint már 2400 katonát képeztek ki, további 2400 katona kiképzése van folyamatban, és a tervek szerint további közel 5000 katonát küldünk a gyakorlótérre” – mondta Hromov. Hozzátette: a kiképzésen átesett ukrán katonák sikeresen teljesítenek harci feladatokat az ukrán fegyveres erők soraiban.
Oroszország inváziójára válaszul a brit kormány 2,3 milliárd font katonai segélyt nyújt Ukrajnának.
Ez magába foglal egy innovatív program iránti elkötelezettséget, amely közel 10 000 ukrán katona képzését teszi lehetővé az Egyesült Királyság területén.
A kiképzés az északkeleti, délnyugati és délkeleti régiókban található katonai gyakorlótereken zajlik. A képzést 11. dandár egységei tartják a biztonsági erők támogatásával.
A program célja, hogy a kevés vagy semmilyen katonai tapasztalattal nem rendelkező önkénteseket olyan készségekkel ruházzák fel, amelyek révén hatékonyan tudják végrehajtani a harci műveleteket a fronton. A képzés kiterjed a fegyverkezelésre, a harctéri elsősegélynyújtásra, a terepi technikákra, az őrjárati taktikára és a fegyveres konfliktusok jogszabályaira.
Az ukrán katonák első csoportja július 6-án érkezett az országba kiképzésre.

Több tucatnyi rendőr csatlakozott az LMBTQ-felvonuláshoz szombaton az angol tengerparti Brighton városában.
A Brighton és Hove lakosainak védelméért felelős sussexi rendőrség a városban évente megrendezett pride-felvonulás alkalmából szivárványszínekben pózolt, hogy így fejezze ki támogatását a progresszív mozgalom iránt.
A sussexi rendőrségi és bűnüldözési megbízott, a konzervatív párti Katy Bourne mellett Jo Shiner rendőrfőnök és Gavin Stephens, a surrey-i rendőrség vezetője, valamint mintegy három tucatnyi rendőr is részt vett a rendezvényen.
A helyi állami alkalmazottak közül ráadásul nem csupán a rendőrök csatlakoztak a pride-ünnepséghez: a teljes önkormányzati képviselőtestület is részt vett a felvonuláson.
A helyi munkáspárti képviselő, Lloyd Russell-Moyle, aki saját bevallása szerint tagja az LMBTQ közösségnek, szintén megjelent, és egy „minden menekültet szívesen látunk” feliratú transzparenst tartott.
