Philadelphiában sztrájkot hirdetett szombaton a több ezer iskolai dolgozót képviselő szakszervezet egy héttel a tanév megkezdése előtt a tarthatatlan munkakörülményeikre hivatkozva.
A philadelphiai iskolakerület szakszervezetét tagjai arra hatalmazták fel, hogy kezdjen sztrájkot, ha nem sikerül megállapodnia munkaszerződéseik megújításáról. A munkavállalók érdekképviselete elfogadhatatlannak tartja a munkakörülményeket, valamint magasabb béreket, és megfelelő képzési programokat követel tagjai számára.
John Bynum, a szakszervezet elnökhelyettese azzal is vádolta a kerület intézményeit, hogy nem készítették fel a tanárokat arra, hogy miképpen kezeljék az iskolákban kialakuló „súlyos helyzeteket”, ide értve azt is, ha valaki lövöldözni kezd valamelyik iskolában.
A szakszervezet elsősorban iskolai személyzetet – buszvezetőket, takarítókat és egyéb iskolai dolgozókat – képvisel.
A philadelphiai iskolakerület reményét fejezte ki, hogy sikerül megfelelő szerződési feltételekben megállapodni, ami megfelelően értékeli és támogatja a dolgozókat.
Az Egyesült Államok államaiban a következő hetekben kezdődik a tanév, államonként eltérő időpontban. Az iskolák nagy része krónikus munkaerőhiánnyal küzd, részben tanárhiánnyal, de sok buszvezető is hiányzik. Az Egyesült Államokban a gyerekek nagy részét iskolabuszok szállítják a tanintézményekbe és onnan haza – számolt be az MTI.

A jelentés szerint a kiadványt tájékoztató informátor kijelentette, hogy az Egyesült Államok Excalibur típusú tarackból kilőhető irányított lövedékeket fog küldeni Ukrajnába, de ezek még nem részei a készülő katonai segélycsomagnak. Az Excalibur nagy pontosságú, megnövelt hatótávolságú lövedékek. A céltól való eltérés nem éri el a két métert. Mint a gyártó cég megjegyzi, egy ilyen lövedék átlagosan legalább tíz közönséges lövedéket helyettesíthet.
Az Excalibur olyan tüzérségi változatokkal kompatibilis, mint a brit M777 155 mm-es tarack, a svéd Archer 155 mm-es önjáró tarack és a német PzH 2000. Az inerciális irányítórendszer GPS-szel van kombinálva. A védelmi minisztérium főfelügyelői jelentése kifejtette, hogy az országban hátrahagyott 7 milliárd dolláros felszerelés nagy része taktikai szárazföldi járművekből, például Humvee-ból és aknaálló MRAPS-ből állt.
Az afgán hadsereg mintegy 4,12 milliárd dollár értékű szárazföldi járműkészlettel rendelkezett, amikor Kabul 2021 augusztusának közepén a tálibok kezére került.
A földi járműveken kívül az amerikai hadsereg 923,3 millió dollár értékű katonai repülőgépet és 294,6 millió dollár értékű repülőgép-lőszert veszített.
A jelentés szerint, néhány repülőgépet demilitarizáltak és működésképtelenné tették az evakuálás során.
A jelentés szerint 316 260 kézi lőfegyver, köztük mesterlövész puska, géppuska és gránátvető maradt hátra, 511,8 millió dollár értékben.
Az afganisztáni kivonulást követő hónapokban a tálib harcosok többször is felvonultak az utcákon, bemutatva az Egyesült Államokból lefoglalt katonai felszereléseket.

Komoly átalakításokat jelentettek be az Egyesült Államok járványügyi központjánál (CDC) a koronavírus-járvány kezelésének értékelése és az intézményt ért heves bírálatok nyomán.
A CDC vezetőségének szerdai ülése után Rochelle Walensky igazgató közleményben jelentette be a változásokat, amelyek többi között a hatóság reagálóképességének felgyorsításáról, a kormányzati szervezetekkel való együttműködés javításáról szólnak – írja az MTI.
Célként jelölte meg azt, hogy megszűnjenek az egymást átfedő és egymásnak ellentmondó közegészségügyi ajánlások. A közlemény elszámoltathatóságot, együttműködést, kommunikációt, a közegészségügy cselekvésorientált kultúrájának kialakítását ígéri.
A nagy pillanatokban nem sikerült jól teljesíteni
Az igazgató elismerte, hogy ugyan a hatóság 75 éve, megalakulása óta készült a koronavíruséhoz hasonló járványok kezelésére, és „nagy pillanatban a teljesítményünk nem felelt meg az elvárásoknak”.
A konkrét lépések között szerepel az intézmény kommunikációs tevékenységének átszervezése és az internetes oldalának átalakítása.
A hatóságnál csaknem 12 ezer ember dolgozik, éves költségvetése 12 milliárd dollár.

Először július elején érte szerencse, amikor 18 ezer dollárt (mintegy 7 millió forintot) nyert az egyik lottójátékon, majd múlt hétvégén családjával nyaralni volt Marylandben, és újra próbát tett, aminek a gyümölcse több mint 30 ezer dollár (11,5 millió forint) lett.
Ketterman azt mondta, első alkalommal sem akarta elhinni szerencséjét, de amikor másodszor is nyert, egyszerűen szóhoz sem jutott.

Az Egyesült Államok szankciókkal sújtott Vlagyimir Putyin állítólagos barátnőjén kívül még néhány orosz céget és oligarchát, akik az indoklás szerint a háború során meggazdagodtak, és pazarló életmódot folytattak, miközben „ártatlan emberek szenvednek” Oroszország háborúja miatt.
Az amerikai pénzügyminisztérium büntetőintézkedéseket vezetett be többek között az orosz elnök vélelmezett barátnője ellen. A szankciók rajta kívül ezúttal az orosz elit újabb csoportját célozták meg.
Az intézkedéssorozat a Biden-kormányzat legújabb kísérlete arra, hogy megbüntesse a Kremlt az Ukrajnában folyó háború miatt – jelentette a CNN.
Alina Maratovna Kabajevát, aki „romantikus” kapcsolatban állt az orosz vezetővel, azért büntették, mert „az Orosz Föderáció kormányának vezetője, tisztviselője, vezető tisztségviselője vagy igazgatótanácsának tagja, vagy volt” – áll a pénzügyminisztérium általánosítható közleményében.
A dokumentum szerint a 39 éves Kabajeva „szoros kapcsolatban áll Putyinnal”. Az Állami Duma korábbi tagja „jelenleg a Nemzeti Médiacsoport, egy Kreml-barát televíziós, rádiós és nyomtatott szervezetekből álló birodalom vezetője”.
A Wall Street Journal már áprilisban arról számolt be, hogy az Egyesült Államok fontolóra vette Kabajeva szankcionálását.
A döntéshozókban azonban aggodalmak merültek fel, hogy egy ilyen intézkedés fokozná a feszültséget, mivel a hölgy Putyinhoz és szívéhez igen közel áll.
Az Európai Uniónak és az Egyesült Királyságnak azonban nem voltak fenntartásai, és Kabajevát már májusban szankciókkal sújtotta.
A feltételezések szerint az egykori tornászcsillag még gyermekekkel is megajándékozta Putyint.
Akkoriban azt írták róla: Kabajeva luxuséletet él, limuzinflottája van, és biztonsági őrök óvják magánéletét. A Sonntagszeitung című svájci lap információi szerint Kabajeva és Putyin első fia Svájcban született még 2015-ben rendkívüli óvintézkedések közepette, míg a második 2019-ben Oroszországban. Az újság ezen feltevéseket Kabajeva egyik ismerősének beszámolójára alapozza, aki ismeri a gyermekeket világra segítő szülészorvost. A hírt maga az orvos is megerősítette.
Jegelt vagyon, beutazási tilalom
Kabajeva mellett a pénzügyminisztérium több más oligarcha, egy nagy acélgyártó vállalat és két leányvállalata, valamint egy szankciók kijátszásával vádolt pénzintézet és annak vezérigazgatója ellen is szankciókat rendelt el.
Saját hatáskörében az amerikai külügyminiszter további szankciókat jelentett be még három oligarcha, egy orosz állami vállalat, „négy magánszemély és egy Ukrajna területén Oroszországgal együttműködő szervezet”, valamint 24 orosz védelmi és technológiával kapcsolatos cég ellen.
Az Egyesült Államok emellett vízumkorlátozást vezetett be az Orosz Föderáció 893 tisztségviselőjével és „31 olyan külföldi kormányzati tisztségviselővel szemben, akik az Ukrajnához tartozó Krím területének Oroszország általi annektálása érdekében cselekedtek, és ezáltal fenyegették vagy megsértették Ukrajna szuverenitását” – közölte Antony Blinken.
Többségüket a szövetségesek: az Európai Unió, az Egyesült Királyság, Ausztrália és Kanada már korábban megbüntették.
Miközben ártatlan emberek szenvednek Oroszország illegális agressziós háborúja miatt, Putyin szövetségesei meggazdagodtak, és pazar életmódot folytatnak – indokolta a szankciókat az amerikai pénzügyminiszter.
„A pénzügyminisztérium minden rendelkezésére álló eszközt be fog vetni annak érdekében, hogy az orosz elitet és a Kreml segítőit felelősségre vonják a számtalan emberéletet követelő háborúban való bűnrészességükért” – hangoztatta Janet Yellen.
Az amerikai szankciókkal sújtott oligarchák egyike Andrej Grigorjevics Gurjev, a FoszAgro vegyipari vállalat milliárdos alapítója és volt kormánytisztviselő, akit a pénzügyminisztérium Putyin „közeli, ismert munkatársaként” jellemzett.

Az Egyesült Államokbeli Kansas megszavazza az abortuszhoz való jog védelmét. Nagy számban vettek részt a kansasiak a republikánus törvényhozás által kezdeményezett népszavazáson.
A szavazatok nagy részének megszámlálása után 20 százalékpontos volt a nemmel szavazók előnye, a részvétel pedig megközelítette az őszi kormányzóválasztásokon jellemző arányt.
“ A választók a politikai spektrum minden szegletéből összefogtak ma, és nemmel szavaztak. Nemmel szavaztak, hogy megvédjék szomszédaikat. És nemmel szavaztak az alkotmány megváltoztatására. És megmutattuk, hogy a szabad állam gyökerei itt Kansasban megvannak és jól vannak.” – mondta Ashley All a Kansasiak az alkotmányos szabadságért aktivistája.
Kansas – egy mélyen konzervatív és általában megbízhatóan republikánus állam – az első amerikai állam, ahol szavazásra bocsájtották az abortuszhoz való jogot azóta, hogy az amerikai legfelsőbb bíróság június végén úgy döntött, megsemmisíti az abortuszhoz való jog alkotmányos védelmét. Az eredmény csak ezt az egy államot érinti, de reményt adhat a demokratáknak a novemberi választások előtt.
