Ukrajnában nagyon alacsony az antiszemitizmus szintje, ha történnek is próbálkozások, azokat megakadályozzuk – jelentette ki Volodimir Zelenszkij elnök szombaton Herszonban, miután felkereste a Chabad zsinagógát, amelyet áprilisban szélsőségesek megpróbáltak felgyújtani, adta hírül az Ukrajinszka Pravda hírportál.
A térség zsidó központjában Zelenszkij találkozott Iosif-Yitzhak Wolffal, Herszom megye főrabbijával, és tájékozódott a zsinagógában folyó tevékenységről. Az államfő megtekintette az épületnek azt a részét, amelyet felújítottak a gyújtogatási kísérlet után.
Wolf főrabbi köszönetet mondott az elnöknek az ukrán államhatalom gyors reagálásáért az antiszemita cselekedetre. Mint emlékeztetett, az ukrán rendvédelmi szervek három hét alatt kézre kerítették az elkövetéssel gyanúsított két személyt.
Zelenszkij a főrabbival közösen köszönő oklevelet adott át Olekszandr Prokugyin megyei rendőrparancsnoknak és Szerhij Krivorucskónak, az Ukrán Biztonsági Szolgálat (SZBU) megyei vezetőjének a zsinagóga ellen elkövetett bűncselekmény gyors felderítéséért. Az elnök szerint a rendvédelmi szervek ilyen eredményes munkája öregbíti Ukrajna hírnevét és tekintélyét.
Az államfő hangsúlyozta: a lényeg az, hogy Ukrajna fellépését a hasonló cselekedetek ellen nemzetközi szinten is értékelik, ami nagyon fontos. „Hibrid információ háború zajlik, amikor azt terjesztik, hogy nálunk idegengyűlölet és antiszemitizmus van. Az ilyen (rendvédelmi) fellépések nagyon fontosak, hogy megmutassuk, Ukrajnában nagyon alacsony az antiszemitizmus szintje. Ha vannak is próbálkozások, azokat megakadályozzuk” – mutatott rá Volodimir Zelenszkij a herszoni Chabad zsinagógában.
