Az Egyesült Államok listáján, ahol magas a kutyák veszettségi szintje, 113 ország szerepel, közöttük van Ukrajna is.
Július 14-től az amerikai kormány a veszettség veszélye miatt megtiltja a kutyák importját 113 országból, beleértve Ukrajnát is, jelentette be az amerikai Betegségmegelőzési és Megelőzési Központ sajtószolgálata.
Valószínűleg ez a megelőző intézkedés ideiglenes, de szükség van rá az Egyesült Államokba importált kutyák egészségének és biztonságának biztosításához, valamint a lakosság egészségének védelméhez a veszettséget okozó vírus terjedése ellen az Egyesült Államokban.

Több mint száz kutya bénult le részlegesen Magyarországon, Hajdú-Bihar megyében, egyelőre az állatorvosok előtt is rejtély, mi okozhatja a jelenséget.
Az első eseteket Debrecen és környékéről jelentették közel két héttel ezelőtt, mostanra azonban az ország számos más pontján, például Budapesten is felütötte a fejét a jelenség, amelyhez egyesek szerint köze lehet a nyers hússal való táplálásnak.
Sipos Attila állatorvos nem biztos abban, hogy a bénulást valóban toxoplasma okozhatta, az ugyanis a kutyák, macskák bélrendszerében tanyázó élősködő. A szakember szerint mindenesetre nyers hússal való etetésnél fokozottan figyelni kell arra, hogy a hús megbízható forrásból származzon és minőségi legyen.
„Ha hússal etetünk, azt frissen, jól átmosva, megfelelően porciózva kell a kutyának adni, a maradékot pedig le kell fagyasztani. A következő alkalommal felolvasztást követően meglangyosítva kell az állatnak odaadni. Nyersen egyedül disznóhússal nem tanácsos etetni a kutyákat, ám kapjanak bármi mást, a higiénia nagyon fontos. A rothadó húsban megtelepedhet a botulizmust okozó baktérium, amely előidézhet bénulást. A szintén bénulással járó, úgynevezett APN idegrendszeri betegséget is okozhatják kórokozók, valamint bizonyos baktériumok külső sérülésen keresztül juthatnak az állat szervezetébe, hasonló kórképet okozva” – mondta a szakember.
Az állatvédők a Debrecenben lebénult kutyák laboreredményeire várnak. Az ebek a tünetek megjelenése előtt nyers csirkét fogyasztottak.
A kórkép úgy néz ki, hogy a kutya először csak sántítani kezd, majd egyre nehezebben ül le, végül nem képes felállni. Ezt követi a teljes hátsó rész bénulása – részletezte Schreiter Katalin, az Országos Állatvédőrség munkatársa. „A gazdik annyit tehetnek, hogy fagyasztással vagy főzéssel hőkezelik az állatoknak szánt ételeket. Eddig ismeretlen, vélhetően kutyáktól eredő koronavírust azonosítottak 2017–2018-ban tüdőgyulladással kezelt malajziai betegek mintáiban.
A betegeket a Malajzia keleti részén található Szaravak tartományban kezelték kórházban. Amennyiben megerősítik, hogy kórokozóról van szó, ez lehet a nyolcadik koronavírus, amely az emberi szervezetben betegséget vált ki – írták a Clinical Infectious Diseases című folyóirat csütörtökön megjelent számában a tudósok, akik szerint eredményeik az állati eredetű koronavírusok jelentette fenyegetést támasztják alá.
A kutatók 301 tüdőgyulladásos beteg orrváladék-mintáját elemezték. Nyolc minta – többségük 5 év alatti gyerekeké – tartalmazott egy új koronavírust, amely a CCoV-HuPn-2018 nevet kapta. További génelemzés – szekvenálás – után megállapították, hogy macskákat és sertéseket megfertőző más koronavírusokkal mutat közös tulajdonságokat, de leginkább arra hasonlít, amelyet kutyák kaptak el.
Találtak ugyanakkor benne egy olyan genetikai mutációt, amely egyetlen kutya-koronavírusban sem volt jelen, megtalálható azonban az embert megfertőző SARS-CoV és a jelenlegi világjárványt okozó SARS-CoV-2 vírusokban.
Az eredmények alapján a vírus valószínűleg nem sokkal korábban ugorhatott át az állatokról az emberre, de a tanulmány szerzői hangsúlyozták, hogy további kutatásnak kell vizsgálnia, terjed-e emberről emberre. Azt is közölték, nem tudni, hogy a vírus okoz-e emberi betegséget, lehetséges, hogy a páciensek csak hordozták a légútjaikban mindenféle tünet nélkül.
Hét koronavírusról ismert, hogy emberi betegséget okoz: négy közönséges náthát, a másik három a SARS, a MERS és a Covid-19 nevű kórt.

Ha megfigyelte már a kutyáját vagy a macskáját alvás közben, talán elgondolkozott azon, hogy vajon álmodik-e. Vajon álmaikban a gazdival játszanak, vagy inkább vadásznak? A Discover tudományos magazin beszámolója szerint a kutatók azt nem tudják megmondani, hogy miről álmodnak az állatok, de jó érveik vannak amellett, hogy ők is álmodnak. Még ha nem is pont úgy, mint az emberek.
Az emberek többnyire a REM-fázisban álmodnak. Ebben a szakaszban az agy olyan intenzíven dolgozik, hogy elektromos aktivitása inkább az ébrenléti állapothoz hasonlít, mint az alvás más szakaszaihoz.
A tudósok már megbizonyosodtak róla, hogy az állatok is megtapasztalják ezt a REM-fázist.
Ezekben az időszakokban az állatok agya is az emberéhez hasonló elektromos aktivitást mutat. Többek között emlősökben, madarakban, hüllőkben, de még halakban is megfigyelték már ezt. Persze ez nem bizonyítja, hogy ők is álmodnak, de azért azt mutatják az eredmények, hogy valami hozzánk hasonlót élhetnek át ilyenkor.
A REM-fázis alatt az izmok képtelenek a mozgásra, azonban ha ez az atónia nem áll be, akkor az emberek is rugdosódhatnak, kapálózhatnak álmaikban. Ehhez hasonlóan megfigyelték a kutatók, hogy ha a macskák alvása során megszüntetik az izmok kikapcsolását, akkor is ugyanúgy mozogtak, megpróbáltak elkapni valamit, mintha ébren lennének.
Az emberi álmok egyik fontos funkciója a memóriakonszolidáció. Ez azt jelenti, hogy az agy az alvás során elrendezi a napközben tapasztalt élményeket. Ilyenkor furcsa dolgok is születhetnek, ami elvezet a meghökkentő álmokhoz. Hasonló jelenséget figyeltek meg patkányok vizsgálatakor is. Az agyi aktivitásuk álmukban pont olyan volt, mint amikor a kísérleti labirintusban szaladnak, és a végén elérik a célul kitűzött táplálékot. Ez azt mutatta, hogy álmaikban a patkányok a nyerő útvonalat gyakorolták.
Az biztos, hogy az állatoknak is szükségük van a nappali órák emlékeinek megerősítésére, konszolidálására.
Ez a patkányokat vizsgáló tanulmány is azt mutatja, hogy ezt az emberekhez hasonló módon, alvás közben tehetik meg. Minden állat alszik, és ennek az a része, amit az emberek álomnak hívnak, valószínűleg náluk is hasonló célt szolgál.

Olyan okosnyakörvet fejlesztett ki egy dél-koreai startup cég, amely képes felismerni a kutya öt érzelmi állapotát az állat ugatása alapján hangfelismerő technológia segítségével.
A Petpuls nyakörv egy okostelefonos alkalmazáson keresztül tájékoztatja a kutya gazdáját arról, hogy az állat boldog, nyugodt, izgatott, mérges vagy szomorú. A nyakörv követi a kutya fizikai aktivitását és figyeli pihenését is.
„Ez a nyakörv hangot ad a kutyának, amelyet az ember képes megérteni” – magyarázta a találmányt Andrew Gil, a Petpuls Lab globális markeringigazgatója.
A vállalkozás 2017-ben kezdte el a különböző kutyaugatások gyűjtését, hogy elemezze belőlük a kutyák érzelmi állapotát. Három évvel később elkészítették az 50 kutyafajta tízezer ugatásmintájából álló adatbázison alapuló saját algoritmusukat.
A nyakörv 90 százalékos pontossággal ismeri fel a kutya érzelmi állapotát – állítja az eszközt tesztelő Szöuli Nemzeti Egyetem. Az eszköz a vállalkozás szerint a maga nemében az első, amely a mesterséges intelligencia hangfelismerő technológiáján alapul.
A Petpuls Lab októberben kezdte a nyakörv online árusítását 99 dolláros (29 ezer forintos) áron. A globális kutyapopuláció tavaly 18 százalékkal nőtt és elérte a 489 millió példányt.

Évek óta probléma, hogy a tűzijátékszezon elindulásakor szembe kerülnek a kutyatartók és a tűzijátékok szerelmesei. Alternatív megoldásként azonban ma már rendelkezésre állnak az úgynevezett csendes tűzijátékok, melyek látványra ugyanolyanok, mint hangos társaik, de hanghatás szempontjából nem rémítik halálra az állatokat – olvasható a Travelo oldalán.
A „csendes” tűzijáték termékcsalád egy újfajta pirotechnikai eszköz, aminek az a lényege, hogy képes visszaadni a megszokott tűzijáték élményét, ugyanakkor hangjában jóval elmarad attól.
„Nem tartalmaz bontó- és hanghatású töltetet a látványhoz, csak a kilövésük jár kisebb hanggal, ami nem haladja meg egy öregebb autó beindításának hangját. Ennek köszönhetően semmiképpen sem idézi elő azt az akusztikai zaj-stressz jelenséget, ami bánthatja házi kedvenceink érzékeny és kifinomult hallását” – idézi a cikk Pataki István pirotechnikust.
A földtől 2 métertől akár 20 méteres távolságra is fellőhető csendes fényünnep használatát az olaszországi Parma megyében található Collecchio városban rendeleti úton már bevezették, és a tapasztalatok szerint igen pozitívan fogadták a tűzijáték-rajongók és a helyi kutyatartók egyaránt. Ha tehát mi is ilyen tűzijátékok mellett döntünk idén, akkor a dobozokon feltüntetett állatbarát logókat kell figyelni!

Ahogy az embereknél, úgy a kutyáknál is változik korral a személyiség, de ezek a változások nem egyenletesen, hanem szakaszosan történnek – állapítják meg az ELTE Etológia Tanszék és a Bécsi Állatorvosi Egyetemen működő Clever Dog Lab munkatársai legújabb tanulmányukban.
Turcsán Borbála, az ELTE Etológia Tanszékének kutatója szerint még mindig nagyon keveset tudunk a kutyák személyiségfejlődésének időbeli dinamikájáról, arról, hogy milyen életszakaszokban változik legerősebben a kutyák személyisége és mennyit változik a személyiség a kutyák életében. Ezért egy kutatásban – melynek eredménye a Scientific Reports című tudományos lapban jelent meg – az etológusok 217 border collie-t vizsgáltak négy éven keresztül. A vizsgálatban a border collie-k személyiségét egy több helyzetből álló tesztsorozat segítségével mérték fel a szerzők. A legfiatalabb kutya fél, a legidősebb 15 éves volt. A kutatók 7 korcsoportra osztották a kutyákat.
A kutatás eredményei szerint, ahogy emberek esetében, úgy kutyáknál is változik a személyiség a korral és ezek a változások nem egyenletesen, hanem szakaszosan történnek: a különböző személyiségvonások különböző dinamika szerint, eltérő életszakaszokban és eltérő irányokba változnak – hangsúlyozta a beszámolóban Virányi Zsófia, a bécsi Clever Dog Lab egyik vezető kutatója. Így például a vizsgálat alapján a kutyák problémahelyzetben mutatott figyelme és problémamegoldó képessége körülbelül 6 éves korukig folyamatosan nő, ez után viszont alig változik.
Ezzel ellentétben az új tárgyak és ingerek iránti érdeklődésük lényegében nem változik 3 éves korig, ám ez után folyamatosan és erősen csökken. A kutyák aktivitása szintén csökkenő tendenciát mutat a korral, de ennél a vonásnál a kölyökkor és az 1-2 éves (kamasz) kor között figyelhető meg erős, ugrásszerű csökkenés. Felnőtt és idős korban ez a jellemvonás lassabban és kisebb mértékben változik.
A vizsgálat szerint ugyanakkor nem minden személyiségvonás változik a korral. A kutatók csak gyenge tendenciát találtak arra, hogy a kutyák valamivel jobban tolerálják a frusztráló helyzeteket idősebb korukban, mint fiatalon, míg az emberrel szembeni barátságosságuk úgy tűnik, életük végéig stabilan egy szinten marad.
A felmérés fontos eleme volt, hogy a kutatók nem csupán korcsoportok között, de hosszútávon is megvizsgálták a személyiség időbeli változását. Ehhez 4 évvel az első teszt után 37 vizsgált kutyának ismét felmérték a személyiségét. A beszámoló szerint az eredmények megerősítették, hogy a kutyák személyiségének is van stabil komponense, ugyanis a kutyák egymáshoz képest mind az 5 személyiségvonás esetében ugyanúgy helyezkedtek el, tehát például a legaktívabbak négy évvel később is a legaktívabbnak bizonyultak. Ám az egyedek mégsem egyforma mértékben változtak ez alatt az idő alatt. Emberi kutatási eredményekhez hasonlóan az „érettebb” személyiségű kutyák, akik már az első tesztnél kevésbé aktívak, kevésbé kíváncsiak és jobb problémamegoldók voltak, kevesebbet változtak 4 év alatt, mint társaik.
További érdekességként említik, hogy a szerzők több, időskori szellemi és/vagy érzékszervi leépülésben szenvedő kutyát is azonosítottak. Ezek a kutyák nem tudták megszerezni az elrejtett jutalomfalatokat és extrém aktívak voltak, szinte folyamatosan jöttek-mentek.
„Kutatásunkban részletesen leírjuk, hogyan változik általában a kutyák személyisége az egyes életszakaszokban, milyen irányú és mértékű változások járnak együtt tipikusan az öregedéssel. Az ettől való erős eltérés különböző mentális vagy fizikai betegségekre is utalhat” – emelte ki Kubinyi Enikő, az Európai Kutatási Tanács (ERC) által támogatott ELTE Szenior Családi Kutya Program vezető kutatója. „Korábbi vizsgálataink szerint a kutya jó állatmodell az emberi kognitív öregedés vizsgálatához. A mostani eredmények azt igazolják, hogy a személyiség időbeli változását is hasonló folyamatok szabályozzák az embereknél és a kutyáknál.”

A kutyás családokban felnőtt kisgyermekeknek általában nincsenek kommunikációs gondjaik más gyermekekkel, gondosabban és körültekintőbben viselkednek. Ezt a törvényszerűséget az ausztrál tudósok bizonyították be, akik 1646 családot vizsgáltak meg, ahol két és öt év közötti gyermekek vannak.
A Nyugat-Ausztráliai Egyetem kutatói megállapították, hogy a kutyás családok érzelmileg stabilabbak és társadalmilag kiegyensúlyozottabbak. Az ilyen gyermekeknél 23%-kal kevesebb az esélye annak, hogy érzelmi és társadalmi problémáik alakuljanak ki. Az ilyen gyermekek kevésbé voltak antiszociálisak. A tanulmány szerzője, Hailey Christian egyetemi docens elmondta, hogy a kutatócsapat meglepődött, hogy pusztán egy kutya jelenléte a családban mennyire befolyásolja a kisgyermekek pozitív viselkedését és érzelmeit.
Minél több időt tölt az állattal, annál jobb
A tudósok megállapították, hogy mi az összefüggés a gyermekek fejlődése és a kutyasétáltatás gyakorisága között. Például azoknak a gyermekeknek, akik hetente legalább egyszer sétáltak egy állattal, 36%-kal kevesebb az esélyük a rossz társadalmi és érzelmi fejlődésre, mint azoknak a gyermekeknek, akik ritkán sétáltak kutyájukkal. A gyermekek, akik minden második napon kutyát sétáltattak, sokkal óvatosabbak voltak, mint azok, akik ritkán sétáltak az állattal.
A kutatásban részt vevő 1648 család közül 686-nak (42%) volt kutyája.
A tanulmány szerzői szerint a vizsgálat sajátosságai miatt nem tudták pontosan meghatározni azt a mechanizmust, amellyel a kutyák pozitívan befolyásolják a kisgyermekek társadalmi és érzelmi fejlődését.
