Egy laboratóriumi egér miatt törhetett ki ismét a koronavírus-járvány Tajvanon, ami a világ egyik legjobb járványkezelését tudhatja maga mögött.
Két alkalommal is megharapott egy koronavírussal fertőzött egér egy húszas éveiben járó laboratóriumi dolgozót Tajvan legmagasabb biztonsági szintjén biztosított laboratóriumában – számolt be róla a Fortune.
A fiatal nőnek ezen a héten lett pozitív a koronavírus-tesztje, miután közvetlen kontaktusba került a fertőzéssel a tajvani Academia Sinica kísérleti laborban. Először november 26-án számolt be enyhe köhögésről, december 4-ére viszont már kellőképpen rosszul érezte magát.
Csen Sicsung, Tajvan egészségügyi minisztere az esetet bejelentő sajtótájékoztatón számolt be arról, hogy a nő egyébként nem utazott külföldre és két dózisnyi Moderna-vakcinával is beoltották a pozitív tesztet megelőzően.
Csen erősítette meg azt is, hogy a nőt két különböző alkalommal harapta meg egy olyan laboratóriumi egér, amelyet SARS-CoV-2-vel fertőztek meg. Hozzátette: még további vizsgálatok szükségesek, hogy kétséget kizáróan megállapítsák a fertőzés okát.
Ez a laboratóriumi fertőzés pedig veszélybe sodorta Tajvan kemény áldozatok árán elért sikerét, hogy teljesen elnyomták a koronavírust a szigeten. Ez még szárazföldi Kínának és Hongkongnak sem sikerült, ami különösen széppé teszi a sikert.
Tajvan utoljára november 5-én regisztrált új koronavírus-fertőzöttet, így már bő egy hónapja COVID-mentesek voltak. Ehhez szigorú belépési és karanténszabályok is hozzájárultak, amiket azonban óvatos léptekkel enyhítettek, így többé-kevésbé visszatérhettek a normális élethez.

A Reuters azt írja, hogy nem sokkal a szigetre érkezés után az egyik szenátor bejelentette, 750 ezer darab koronavírus elleni vakcinát adnak Tajvannak.
A tajvani vezetés a napokban arról panaszkodott, hogy a szárazföldi Kína aktívan igyekszik blokkolni Tajvan vakcinabeszerzését, ezért az amerikai lépésnek erőteljes üzenetértéke van. Több mint meglepő lenne, ha a Kínai Kommunista Párt nem szólalna fel a lépés ellen, mert minden hasonló lépést a kínai belügyekbe való beavatkozásnak tekint – így tett akkor is, amikor Japán adományozott vakcinákat Tajvannak.
A humanitárius segítségen felül a lépésnek alapvetően üzenetértéke van amerikai részről, főleg azután, hogy Tajvan a beszerzés kínaiak által emelt akadályairól panaszkodott.
Az Egyesült Államok kormánya múlt héten jelentette be, hogy a meglévő vakcinakészletéből megsegíti a külföldi országokat. Mindezt azért teheti meg, mert az országban immár nagy vakcinatúlkínálat van, az átoltottság ugyanis az oltások nagyfokú elutasítottsága miatt csak rendkívül lassan nő. Az országban a lakosság 51%-a kapott legalább egy oltást.

Peking szóvivője, Zsu Fenglian elmondta, a NASA több ízben is megsértette Kína becsületét azzal, hogy a szigetországot független államként jegyezték – olvasható a Bloomberg riportjában.
Az űrhivatal weboldalán egy online regisztrációhoz kötött űrlapon keresztül iratkozhatnak fel a júzerek egy új projektre, melynek köszönhetően a saját neveik szerepelhetnek majd a Marsra küldött űrszondákon.
A legördülő választási lehetőségek között Tajvan is szerepel. Azt egyelőre nem tudni, ki írta fel ilyen néven a listára az egyébként Kínai Köztársaság néven futó államot, melynek létezését a Kínai Népköztársaság mind a mai napig nem ismerte el.
Kínai internetezők korábban bojkottra szólították fel társaikat a Hennes & Mauritz AB divatmárka és üzlethálózat kapcsán, miután a nemzetközileg elismert vállalat bejelentette, hogy nem fognak felvásárolni olyan gyapotot, melyet Hszincsiang tartományban ujgur kényszermunkával termesztettek.
