A belga kormány egy légi koalíció részeként ukrán pilótákat képez ki F–16-os vadászgépek vezetésére. A kezdeményezés célja, hogy Ukrajnát ilyen típusú repülőgépekkel lássák el, és személyzetet képezzenek ki a karbantartásukra – közölte az Unian ukrán hírügynökség.
A Le Soir azt írja, hogy hat ukrán oktató és négy bevetéstervező kap Belgiumból képzést az F–16-osok elsajátítására. Emellett
az ország védelmi minisztériuma három katonai alkalmazottat küld az ukrán pilóták számára Dániában, az ország déli részén található Skrydstrup légibázison működő kiképzőközpontba.
Ezenkívül 2024-ben a belga védelmi minisztérium két F–16B kétüléses kiképzőgépet küld Dániába továbbképzésre, valamint mintegy 50 katonát, főként műszaki személyzetet, akik a vadászgépek bevetéséért lesznek felelősek.
