Joe Biden amerikai elnök csütörtökön jelentette be, hogy az Egyesült Államok átadja az Egészségügyi Világszervezetnek (WHO) a jelenlegi koronavírus elleni vakcinákban használt kulcsfontosságú, stabilizált tüskefehérje technológiáját, ami lehetővé teszi, hogy a gyártók világszerte együttműködjenek az ügynökséggel a vírus elleni saját oltások kifejlesztésében.
A tüskefehérje a vakcinának az a komponense, amelyik kiváltja az immunválaszt, így a szervezet fel tudja venni a harcot a vírussal.
A technológia az amerikai kormány tulajdona, a vakcinák azonban más összetevőket is tartalmaznak, amelyek közül néhány vállalatoké, emlékeztetett a hírrel kapcsolatban a CNBC. Valószínűleg a koronavírus egy egyedi, nyércekre specializálódott változatától fertőződött meg két állattenyészetben dolgozó, egy állatkitömő és annak felesége, írta meg a Detroit Free Pressre hivatkozva a Patch michigani kiadása.
Michigan állam egészségügyi hatósága és az Egyesült Államok Járványügyi hivatala (CDC) szerint ezek az első ismert esetek az országban, mikor emberek fertőződtek vissza állatoktól koronavírussal.
Mindegyikük felépült a betegségből.
A National Geographic által megszerzett kormányzati dokumentumok alapján a CDC-nek már 2020-ban voltak információi arról, hogy a nyérceket tartó állattenyészetekben emberek is is esetlegesen megfertőződhetnek. Az ügynökség 2021-ben frissítette weboldalát, mely szerint nyércfarmokról több országban, köztük az Egyesült Államokban is jelentettek koronavírusos eseteket az állatok között.
Fertőzött emberek valószínűleg átadták a betegséget a nyérceknek a farmokon, ahol a vírus elkezdett az állatok között is terjedni. A nyércek más állatoknak, például kutyáknak és macskáknak is átadhatták a vírust − közölte a járványügyi hivatal
A The New York Times tudósítása szerint az esetek még 2020-ban történtek, de akkor nem hozták őket nyilvánosságra. A két állatfarmi dolgozó nyilván ott kapta el a betegséget, a másik két fertőzöttnek azonban nem volt kapcsolata a tenyészettel, ami arra utal, hogy a közösségben szélesebb körben is elterjedt az állatoktól származó vírustörzs.
Az eset rávilágít arra, hogy milyen fontos az átláthatóság, ugyanis minél előbb tisztában vagyunk az információkkal, annál előbb tudunk cselekedni. Ha korábban napvilágot látnak ezek az adatok, más országok is felkészülhettek volna erre az eshetőségre – mondta el Scott Weese, a kanadai Guelphi Egyetem intézetvezetője a National Geographicnak.

Joe Biden egy olyan program létrehozásáról beszélt, amelynek keretében az ukrán menekülteket ideiglenesen befogadnák az országba – írja a BBC.
Az „Egyesüljünk Ukrajnáért” program lehetővé teszi, hogy azok az ukránok, akiknek van amerikai támogatójuk, legfeljebb két évig az USA-ban tartózkodhassanak – mondta az elnök, hangsúlyozva, hogy ez nem vezet automatikusan az állampolgárság megadásához.
Biden ezen felül egy további 800 millió dolláros biztonsági segélycsomagot is bejelentett Ukrajnának. Korábban egy ugyanekkora méretű csomagot jelentettek be.
Az amerikai pénzügyminisztérium arról is tájékoztatott, hogy további 500 millió dolláros támogatást nyújt Ukrajnának, hogy segítse a kormány működését, például a fizetések folyósításában és a szolgáltatások fenntartásában.
Az Egyesült Államok mindezek mellett kitiltja az oroszokhoz köthető hajókat a kikötőiből, hogy „fokozza a nyomást Putyinon”. „Egyetlen olyan hajó, amely orosz zászló alatt hajózik, vagy amely orosz érdekeltségek tulajdonában áll, vagy orosz érdekeltségek üzemeltetik, sem fog kikötni amerikai kikötőben és nem kap hozzáférést a szárazföldünkhöz. Egyetlen egy sem” – fogalmazott Joe Biden.
Az USA a háború kitörése óta több szankciós csomaggal is sújtotta Oroszországot, ezek között voltak olyanok is, amik személyesen Vlagyimir Putyint és a családját, többek között a lányait is érintették.

A baloldali-liberális amerikai napilap online tudósítása idézi az Egyesült Államok Vámügyi és Határvédelmi Ügynökségének (CBP) hétfőn közzétett adatait, amelyek szerint az elmúlt fél évben, október 1-je óta több mint 1 millió illegális határsértőt vettek őrizetbe a mexikói–amerikai határon. Ez 22 éves rekordot jelent. A CBP adatai szerint márciusban Latin-Amerikából és a Karib-térségből érkezett rekordszámú illegális bevándorló az országba, akik az országaikat sújtó politikai és gazdasági körülmények elől menekülnek.
Az Egyesült Államokban elfogott illegális migránsok száma szinte minden hónapban emelkedett Joe Biden demokrata párti amerikai elnök 2021 januári hivatalba lépése óta. Ez politikai muníciót nyújt republikánus bírálóinak, akik e növekedésben annak bizonyítékát látják, hogy a Biden-adminisztráció határbiztonsággal kapcsolatos intézkedései hatástalanabbak, mint elődje, Donald Trump bevándorláspolitikai lépései. A Fehér Ház jelenlegi vezetése Trump több ezzel kapcsolatos elnöki rendeletét eltörölte.
Ukrajnából is érkeznek menekültek
Az amerikai határügynökség adatai szerint az Egyesült Államokban márciusban őrizetbe vett illegális migránsok közül 5000-en érkeztek Ukrajnából szárazföldi, tengeri vagy légi úton, ebből több mint 3200-an a mexikói–amerikai határon keresztül. Ez szintén jelentős növekedést jelent az előző havi adatokhoz képest. Februárban még kevesebb, mint 1150 ukrán érkezett az Egyesült Államokba, közülük 272-en a mexikói–amerikai határon keresztül.
Az elmúlt fél évben 10 600 ukrajnai menekült érkezett az amerikai határellenőrzési pontokra, míg az azt megelőző egyéves időszakban, 2020. október 1. és 2021. szeptember 30. között alig több mint 9300-an. Ezek az első hivatalos adatok az Egyesült Államokban menedékjogot kérő ukrajnai menekültek számáról az ukrajnai háború február 24-i kezdete óta.

Egyre nagyobb az aggodalom amiatt, hogy fogytán az ukránok muníciója egy amerikai tisztviselő szerint – írja az Euronews.
A tisztviselő szerint az orosz egységek elleni nehéz szárazföldi harcok várhatóan a következő napokban fognak kibontakozni, ezért több lőszert, különösen tüzérségi lőszert kell gyorsan eljuttatni a fogyó ukrán lőszerek pótlására.
A CNN-nek a tisztviselő azt is megjegyezte, hogy az Egyesült Államok 18 darab 155 mm-es vontatott ágyút és 40 ezer tüzérségi lövedéket szállít Ukrajnának a Biden elnök kormánya által a héten bejelentett új, 800 millió dolláros csomag részeként, azonban ez a mennyiség napokon belül elfogyhat – mondta a CNN-nek a tisztviselő.
Az amerikai hírcsatorna kormányzati forrása hozzátette, hogy a korábbi súlyos harcok során az ukrán erők egy nap akár több ezer tüzérségi lövedéket is kilőttek.

Egyre nő azon rendőrségek száma, amelyek nem halálos felszereléseket adományoznak az ukrán civilek megsegítésére – derül ki a CNN általi összesítésből és az érintettek egy részével készített interjúkból.
