Már napok óta 30 fokos kánikula tombol Kelet-Szibériában, az északi sarkkör környékén, szombaton pedig rekord méreteket öltött a rendkívüli meleg a térségben. A csúcshőmérséklet helyenként elérte a 35 fokot, de az északi félteke egyik leghidegebb pontjának tartott
Verhojanszkban 38 fokos maximumot mértek, ami új melegrekordnak számít nemcsak ezen a településen, de Szibériában is. Az északi sarkkörtől északra sem mértek még soha ilyen magas hőmérsékletet.
Verhojanszk főleg a kemény telek miatt lehet ismerős sokak számára, hiszen itt mérték az északi félteke legalacsonyabb hőmérsékletét, -67,8 fokot. A kontinentális éghajlatnak köszönhetően azonban olykor előfordulnak melegebb nyarak, amikor a maximum-hőmérséklet a 30 fokot is megközelítheti. A mostani 38 fokos csúcshőmérséklet viszont majdnem 18 fokkal haladja meg júniusi maximum hőmérsékleti átlagot (19,9 fok).
A GFS szombat délutánra vonatkozó 2 méteres hőmérsékleti anomália térképén az átlagosnál jóval melegebb terület.

Az új melegrekorddal a bolygónk egy adott pontján mért legnagyobb hőmérséklet ingadozás (abszolút minimum és maximum különbsége) is növekedett: 105,8 fok az új érték.

Az elmúlt napokban az Északi-sarkvidékre történelmi hőhullám tört – jelentette az Időkép.
A lap beszámolója szerint a múlt hónap átlaghőmérséklete közel 9 fokkal rúgott a korábbi évek átlaga fölé, és a mérések kezdete óta nem tapasztaltak soha ilyen korai felmelegedést, ezzel együtt jégolvadást sem a térségben.
A rekord meleg áprilist követően a napokban szokatlan felmelegedés indult meg a térségben, mely Szibériát, a Jeges-tenger vidékét és Grönland egy részét is érinti. Szibériában a száraz és enyhe idő miatt már az elmúlt hetekben kipattantak a bozóttüzek, melyek az átlagosnál nagyobb területet érintenek.
Az Időkép szerint a hőhullám rendkívüli hőmérsékleteket eredményezett, a sarkkörön 26,4 fokig emelkedett a hőmérséklet, az északi szélesség 62,5. fokánál pedig 30,1 fokos csúcsértéket mértek.

Hatszorosára gyorsult a jégolvadás Grönlandon és az Antarktiszon az 1990-es évekhez képest a globális felmelegedés hatására.
A Föld két nagy kiterjedésű jégmezője 6,4 billió tonna jeget veszített el 1992 és 2017 óta a tudósok szerint, akik a két sarkvidék műholdadatairól végeztek átfogó elemzést.
A vizsgált periódus jégolvadása globálisan 17,8 milliméterrel emelte a tengervizek szintjét.
„Ma a jégtakarók számlájára írható a tengerszint-emelkedés nagyjából harmada, míg az 1990-es években az arány valójában elenyésző, körülbelül ötszázalékos volt” – magyarázta Andrew Shepherd, a Leedsi Egyetem professzora a BBC hírportáljának. A tudós a jégmezők tömegéről folyó összehasonlító kutatási projekt (Ice Sheet Mass Balance Intercomparison Exercise, Imbie) egyik vezetője.
A kutatásban résztvevő szakértők majdnem három évtized sarkvidékekről készített műholdas megfigyelési adatait tekintették át. Ezek a műholdak nyomon követték a jégmezők tömegének, mozgásának és gravitációjának változásait. Az Imbie antarktiszi értékelését a Nature-ben még 2018-ban, a grönlandit pedig a folyóirat friss számában közölte.
A tudósok az eredményekhez azt is hozzáfűzték, hogy a jégolvadás az ENSZ Éghajlatváltozási Kormányközi Testületének (IPCC) számítógépes modellezései alapján készült 2014-es értékelése 53 centiméteres globális vízszintemelkedést vár 2100-ra. Az Imbie szakértőinek tanulmánya azonban azt mutatta, hogy az antarktiszi és grönlandi jégolvadás sokkal pesszimistább forgatókönyvet sugall, valószínűleg további 17 centiméterrel növeli a század végére szóló becslést. „Ha ez valóra válik, 2100-ra 400 millió embernek kell az évenkénti parti áradásokkal szembenéznie” – mutatott rá Sheperd.

Grönland és az Antarktisz kissé eltérően reagál az éghajlatváltozásra. A déli-sarkvidéki jégolvadás leginkább az óceáni vízhőmérséklet emelkedésének számlájára írható, mely a jégmezők szélét támadja. Az északi-sarkvidéki jeget is éri ez a hatás, azonban itt a melegedő levegőt is hozzá kell adni.
A két sarkvidék összesen 17,8 milliméteres tengerszintemeléséből 10,6 milliméter (60 százalék) a grönlandi, 7,2 milliméter (40 százalék) az antarktiszi olvadásnak tulajdonítható.
Az 1990-es években mintegy 81 milliárd tonna olvadt el évenként a két sarkvidéken, a 2010-es évekre ez évi 475 milliárd tonnára emelkedett.

Az Egyesült
Államokban az elmúlt évtizedekben egyre gyakrabban fordult elő, hogy a tavasz a
vártnál sokkal korábban érkezett meg és ez alól az idei év sem volt kivétel. Az
almafák az ország délkeleti részén már 3 héttel hamarabb elkezdtek virágozni az
átlagnál és a kutatók szerint az elmúlt évek egyik legmelegebb tavasza várhat
az Egyesült Államokra.
A tavaszi meleg elsőre ártalmatlannak tűnhet, viszont számos
hátrányt jelent a természet és az emberek számára. A korán érkező meleg
teljesen megzavarhatja a levélrügyek fejlődését, korábban érkezhetnek különféle
betegségeket hordozó rovarok (szúnyog, kullancs), de akár egy erősebb és
hosszabb pollenidőszakot is hordozhat magában. Igaz a hosszabb növekedési
időszak bizonyos növények terméshozamának megnövekedését eredményezheti,
viszont a késői fagyok vagy a nyári aszályok okozta szárazságok, növelhetik a
növénykárosodás valószínűségét.
Az amerikai Nemzeti Fenológiai Hálózat eredményei azt
igazolják, hogy a tavasz hosszútávon egyértelműen felgyorsult. A pisztráng
liliom csak nem egy héttel korábban virágzik az Appalache-hegységben mint 100
évvel ezelőtt. Továbbá az áfonya is körülbelül egy héttel korábban virágzik,
mint 1980-ban. A problémát az hordozza magában, hogy nem minden növény és állat
reagál szinkronban a változásokra. A legjobb példa erre a beporzást végző
rovarok és a beporzást kereső növények, amelyek teljes mértékben egymástól
függenek és egy kis változás is nagy problémát okozhat az adott populációban.
A tényleges adatok felhasználásával a Nemzeti Fenológiai
Hálózat térképeket készítettek, hogy dokumentálják a biológiai aktivitás
kezdetét a tavaszi szezon folyamán. Az ország dél-keleti részén a 2020-as
tavasz volt az eddigi legkorábbi az elmúlt 40 évben.
Sokaknak talán elsőre nem okoz nagy gondot, hogy
egyszer-egyszer korábban érkezik a tavasz, viszont a gazdaságoknak közvetve
pedig így emberek számára is, komoly problémákat jelenthet az évszak
változékonysága a jövőben.

A lap információi szerint a jelenséget az úgynevezett
hóalgák okozzák, amik az Antarktisz nyári hónapjaiban a kedvező időjárási
körülmények között tudnak elszaporodni és hozzájárul az éghajlatváltozáshoz. A
tudósok szerint ugyanis a vörös színű hó jóval kevesebb napfényt tükröz vissza
így a jég sokkal gyorsabban olvad.
Az ukrán Oktatási és Tudományos Minisztérium által hétfőn
közzétett képeken jól látható a jelenség. A minisztérium kifejtette, hogy az
algák képesek túlélni a szélsőségesen hideget is az antarktiszi télben,
csírázni viszont akkor kezdenek, amikor melegebb a hőmérséklet. Az algák
sejtjeiben egy vörös karotin réteg van, amely véd az ultraibolya sugárzástól,
és olyan vörös foltokat hoz létre a hóban, mint a „málnalekvár” – mondta a
minisztérium.
Az ilyen hó sötétebb színének köszönhetően hozzájárul az
éghajlatváltozáshoz is – tette hozzá a minisztérium a Facebook-bejegyzésében. „A
vörös szín miatt a hó kevesebb napfényt tükröz és gyorsabban elolvad.”
Az Antarktiszon egyébként kilenc napos hőhullám vonult végig
ebben a hónapban, és megdől a valaha mért legmelegebb hőmérsékletet: 18,3 °C
volt az argentin Esperanza kutatóállomáson. Ennek következtében az Antarktisz
hótakarójának csaknem negyede olvadt el.

Celsius-fokot.
Rendszeres
tízéves előrejelzésükben a Met Office kutatói azzal számolnak, hogy 2020-24
között minden évben az átlaghőmérséklet 1,06-1,62 Celsius-fokkal magasabb lehet
az eddiginél, és ebben az időszakban valószínűleg megdől az éves
átlaghőmérséklet-rekord, amely 2016-ban született.
„Az
ötéves előrejelzés legutóbbi adatai azt jelzik, hogy folytatódni fog a
felmelegedés, összhangban az üvegházhatású gázkibocsátás magas szintjével”
– mondta Doug Smith az előrejelzés bemutatásakor, majd hozzátette:
Vannak ugyan
bizonytalanságok, de a világ legtöbb térségében várhatóan melegebb lesz, és az
előrejelzési minták azt mutatják, hogy különösen Észak-Európában, Ázsiában és
Észak-Amerikában lesz melegebb.
A tízéves
előrejelzés szerint az ötéves átlaghőmérséklet 1,15-1,46 Celsius-fokkal fogja
meghaladni az iparosodás kora előtti szintet. Összehasonlításul, 2015-19-ben az
átlaghőmérséklet 1,09 Celsius-fokkal haladta meg ezt a szintet.
A 2015-ben
elfogadott párizsi klímaegyezményben a részt vevő országok arra kötelezték magukat,
hogy 2100-ig 2 Celsius-fok alatt, ideális esetben 1,5 Celsius-fokon tartják az
átlaghőmérséklet-növekedést az iparosodás kora előtthöz képest. Utóbbi esetében
az üvegházhatású gázkibocsátás jóval drasztikusabb csökkentésére van szükség,
az ENSZ adatai szerint évi 7,6 százalékos csökkentést kellene elérni 2030-ig.
A Met
Office előrejelzése szerint mintegy 10 százalék esély van arra, hogy 2020-24
között valamelyik évben a felmelegedés meg fogja haladni a 1,5 Celsius-fokot.
„Egy ilyen 1,5 Celsius-fokos átmeneti meghaladás még nem jelenti a párizsi klímaegyezmény megsértését” – magyarázta Stephen Belcher, a meteorológiai szolgálat vezető tudósa.
