Az Egyesült Államok a következő héten megkezdi az ukrán hadsereg kiképzését az M1A1 Abrams tankokon.
A hírt Pet Ryder, a Pentagon hivatalos képviselője közölte.
Egy magas rangú katonai forrás arról számolt be, hogy a héten mintegy 250 ukrán katona érkezik Németországba, hogy részt vegyen a gyakorlatokon. Az ukránok 31 Abrams tankon gyakorlatoznak majd, amelyek május elején érkeztek Németországba.
A Pentagon képviselői szerint újabb tétel páncélozott jármű (31 harckocsi) javítása jelenleg zajlik is az USA-ban, ezeket ősszel szállítják majd Ukrajnába.
A kiképzés körülbelül 10 hétig tart, és a harckocsik irányítására, a csatában való manőverezésre és a felszerelés karbantartására összpontosít.

Az Egyesült Államok a következő hetekben megkezdi az ukrán erők Abrams harckocsik használatára és karbantartására vonatkozó képzését.
A tisztviselők szerint május végén 31 harckocsi érkezik a németországi Grafenwoehr gyakorlótérre, és a csapatok néhány héttel később kezdik meg a kiképzést. A tisztviselők szerint a program körülbelül 10 hétig tart.
A kiképző harckocsik nem azok lesznek, amelyeket Ukrajna kap az Oroszország elleni háborúban való használatra, helyette 31 M1A1 harckocsit újítanak fel az Egyesült Államokban, és ezek a frontvonalra kerülnek, amikor készen állnak.
