A betévedt beluga életéért mindent megtettek a szakemberek, hiába.
A rendkívüli erőfeszítések ellenére elpusztult a Szajnába tévedt, a folyóból szerdán kiemelt fehér delfin – közölték a hatóságok szerdán.
Azt a szomorú hírt kell közölnünk, hogy a példátlan mentőakció ellenére elpusztult a fehér delfin – jelentette be a franciaországi Calvados prefektúrája a Twitteren.
A Szajnába tévedt fehér delfin, vagyis beluga válságos állapotban volt már egy hete, és elpusztult, miután kiemelték a folyóból és egy zsilip felé szállították, hogy ott gondoskodjanak róla – közölték a helyi szervek.
A delfinről a korábbi vizsgálatok megállapították, hogy hímnemű és rendkívül alultáplált.
Párizs és a normandiai Rouen között, a tengertől több tíz kilométerre a múlt héten észlelték a beluga megjelenését. A Sea Shepherd környezetvédelmi csoport franciaországi szervezete drónokat és egy hajót küldött a delfin követésére.

Az állatok a Déli-sziget Farewell Spit nevű tengerpartjánál vetődtek a szárazföldre. A bajba került állatokat helyi idő szerint hétfőn reggel vette észre egy túraszervező.
Közülük kilenc példány már elpusztult, mire megtalálták őket – közölte az ország természetvédelmi hivatala.
A helyszínen 65 természetvédelmi őr és számos önkéntes dolgozott egész nap, akik folyamatosan hűtötték és nedvesítették a parti homokra vetődött állatok testét egész addig, amíg a dagály által vissza lehetett őket juttatni a vízbe.
A szakembereknek és az önkénteseknek 40 delfint sikerült visszajuttatniuk a tengerbe. Helyi idő szerint este 9 óra után az állatok már mintegy 80 méterre úsztak attól a helytől, ahol partra vetődtek. Az egyik szemtanú szerint a tovaúszó delfineken egyáltalán nem látszott meg, hogy megfeneklettek, sérülés nyomát sem viselték, „nagyon jó állapotban voltak”.
A Farewell Spit homokos partjánál, amely a Tasman-tengerbe nyúlik, már korábban is előfordult ilyen tömeges partra vetődés.
A helyet „delfincsapdának is hívják”, mivel a delfinek nehezen tudnak kikeveredni a hosszan elnyúló, enyhén lejtő partvonal fogságából, ha egyszer véletlenül odavetődtek.
Több elmélet is született arról, hogy miért vetődnek partra a delfinek: vannak, akik azzal magyarázzák, hogy zsákmányra vadászva kerülnek túl közel a parthoz, mások szerint a csapat sérült tagját védik vagy maguk a delfinek menekülnek egy ragadozó elől.
Négy évvel ezelőtt több mint 650 gömbölyűfejű delfin rekedt Farewell Spit sekély vizében két tömeges partra vetődés alkalmával. Több mint 350 állat elpusztult, mintegy 300 példányt sikerült megmenteni. Tavaly szeptemberben ugyancsak volt egy hasonló eset.

Cape Cod-félsziget egy szakaszán, az amerikai Massachusetts államban csaknem félszáz delfin sodródott partra: állatvédők segítették vissza a vízbe az életveszélybe került tengeri emlősöket.
A 45 delfin a hétvégén került szárazra a földnyúlvány The Gut nevű szakaszán, mentésükben az International Fund for Animal Welfare vezetésével önkéntesek tucatjai vettek részt. Az állatok egy része már túlhevült és megégett a napon, mire a szervezet tengeri emlősök megmentésével és kutatásával foglalkozó egysége a helyszínre érkezett.
A segélyszervezet szerint a delfinek vasárnapra virradóra, az éjszakai árapálymozgás idején sodródhattak partra.
A strandon tüsténkedő félszáz önkéntes speciális hordágyakkal vitte vissza a tengerbe a delfineket, amelyeknek intravénás folyadékokat és vitaminokat is beadtak. A sekély vízben rekedt delfineket a tengerről, csónakokból segítették a mélyebb vizek felé evickélni.
Az erőfeszítések ellenére két delfin életét nem sikerült megmenteni, őket végül elaltatták.
Az állatvédő szervezet hétfőn ügyeletet tartott az érintett partszakaszon, hogy megakadályozza további állatok esetleges partra sodródását.
