A Szaturnusz holdjának, a Titánnak a légkörében ciklopropenilidént találtak. Ez egy annyira ritka molekula, hogy egyetlen másik égitest atmoszférájában sem találtak még belőle, reakciókészsége miatt a Földön is csak laboratóriumi körülmények között hozható létre. Építőköve lehet azoknak a szerves vegyületeknek, amik nélkülözhetetlenek az élet megjelenéséhez.

Nem véletlenül lepte meg a szakértőket az eredmény, égitestek légkörében még soha nem azonosították ezt a molekulát, csupán a világűr gáz- és porfelhőiben észlelték mostanáig.
A NASA Goddard Űrközpontjának munkatársa, Melissa Trainer szerint a Titán nagyon hasonlít az ősi Földre abból a szempontból, hogy hasonló kémiai folyamatok játszódnak le rajta.
A ciklopropenilidénhez hasonló molekulák a DNS és RNS részeiként ismert nukleobázisok felépítésében is részt vesznek, de természetesen ez még nem jelenti azt, hogy a Titánon élet van. A NASA mindenesetre alaposabban vizsgálná a Szaturnusz égi kísérőjét, ezért 2027-ben robotot juttatna a felszínére.
A Dragonfly (Szitakötő) nevű eszköz a mikrobiális élet lehetséges nyomai után fog kutatni.
