Joe Biden egy olyan program létrehozásáról beszélt, amelynek keretében az ukrán menekülteket ideiglenesen befogadnák az országba – írja a BBC.
Az „Egyesüljünk Ukrajnáért” program lehetővé teszi, hogy azok az ukránok, akiknek van amerikai támogatójuk, legfeljebb két évig az USA-ban tartózkodhassanak – mondta az elnök, hangsúlyozva, hogy ez nem vezet automatikusan az állampolgárság megadásához.
Biden ezen felül egy további 800 millió dolláros biztonsági segélycsomagot is bejelentett Ukrajnának. Korábban egy ugyanekkora méretű csomagot jelentettek be.
Az amerikai pénzügyminisztérium arról is tájékoztatott, hogy további 500 millió dolláros támogatást nyújt Ukrajnának, hogy segítse a kormány működését, például a fizetések folyósításában és a szolgáltatások fenntartásában.
Az Egyesült Államok mindezek mellett kitiltja az oroszokhoz köthető hajókat a kikötőiből, hogy „fokozza a nyomást Putyinon”. „Egyetlen olyan hajó, amely orosz zászló alatt hajózik, vagy amely orosz érdekeltségek tulajdonában áll, vagy orosz érdekeltségek üzemeltetik, sem fog kikötni amerikai kikötőben és nem kap hozzáférést a szárazföldünkhöz. Egyetlen egy sem” – fogalmazott Joe Biden.
Az USA a háború kitörése óta több szankciós csomaggal is sújtotta Oroszországot, ezek között voltak olyanok is, amik személyesen Vlagyimir Putyint és a családját, többek között a lányait is érintették.
