 Komoly átalakításokat jelentettek be az Egyesült Államok járványügyi központjánál (CDC) a koronavírus-járvány kezelésének értékelése és az intézményt ért heves bírálatok nyomán.
 A CDC vezetőségének szerdai ülése után Rochelle Walensky igazgató közleményben jelentette be a változásokat, amelyek többi között a hatóság reagálóképességének felgyorsításáról, a kormányzati szervezetekkel való együttműködés javításáról szólnak – írja az MTI.
 Célként jelölte meg azt, hogy megszűnjenek az egymást átfedő és egymásnak ellentmondó közegészségügyi ajánlások. A közlemény elszámoltathatóságot, együttműködést, kommunikációt, a közegészségügy cselekvésorientált kultúrájának kialakítását ígéri.
 A nagy pillanatokban nem sikerült jól teljesíteni
Az igazgató elismerte, hogy ugyan a hatóság 75 éve, megalakulása óta készült a koronavíruséhoz hasonló járványok kezelésére, és „nagy pillanatban a teljesítményünk nem felelt meg az elvárásoknak”.
 A konkrét lépések között szerepel az intézmény kommunikációs tevékenységének átszervezése és az internetes oldalának átalakítása.
 A hatóságnál csaknem 12 ezer ember dolgozik, éves költségvetése 12 milliárd dollár.
