Vasárnap hajnalban engedélyezte az amerikai gyógyszerhatóság (FDA) a Johnson & Johnson gyógyszeripari óriáshoz tartozó Janssen koronavírus elleni vakcináját. Ez az első az eddig engedélyezett és engedélyközelben járó vakcinák közül, amelyből egy adag beadása is elegendő lehet a betegség elleni védelem kialakulásához.
Az FDA szerint a rendelkezésre álló adatok azt mutatják, hogy az új oltóanyag jelentős védelmet biztosít a dél-afrikai vírusvariánssal szemben is – telex.hu.
A Janssen január 29-én jelentette be a harmadik fázisú klinikai vizsgálatai első eredményeit, eszerint a vakcina 66 százalékos hatásossággal véd a megbetegedéstől. Ez alacsonyabb, mint a már engedélyezett vakcináké, de a könnyebb kezelhetőség és főleg az egydózisos adagolás miatt nagy ugrást jelenthet majd a vakcina az oltási programokban.
