Kutatók egy csoportjának sikerült egy olyan molekuláris jelzést felfedezni, ami erőteljes szőrnövekedést eredményez mindkét nem tagjainál. A SCUBE3 jelzőmolekulának köszönhetően előfordulhat, hogy gátat tudunk szabni a kopaszodásnak.
A felfedezés szerint a dermális papillasejtek felelősek az új szőrszálak növekedéséért, ezek a speciális jelképző fibroblasztok (kollagént termelő sejtek) megtalálhatók minden szőrtüsző alján. Noha a tudósok eddig is tisztában voltak azzal, hogy a dermális papillasejteknek jelentős szerepük van a szőrnövekedésben, mostanáig nem volt világos és egyértelmű képük a mögöttes genetikai folyamatokról – írja a Study Finds.
„A szőrtüsző életciklusának különböző időpontjaiban a dermális papillasejtek küldik azokat a jeleket, amelyek vagy nyugalmi állapotban tartják a tüszőket, vagy új szőrnövekedést indítanak el” – mondja Maksim Plikus, PhD, az UCI fejlődés- és sejtbiológiai professzora.
Felfedtük, hogy a SCUBE3 egy olyan jelzőmolekula, amelyet a dermális papillasejtek maguktól termelnek. Ez a molekula úgynevezett hírvivőként funkcionál, amely a szomszédos szőrsejteknek üzeni, hogy kezdjenek osztódni, ami újbóli szőrnövekedést eredményez – közölte.
Jelenleg csak két olyan, kopaszodás elleni gyógyszer van, amely megkapta az Egyesült Államok Élelmiszer- és Gyógyszerügyi Hivatalának jóváhagyását, azonban mindkét gyógyszer ellentmondásos eredményeket produkál.

Nagy-Britanniában megkezdődött a Covid-19 elleni gyógykészítmények tesztelése. Hasonlóan nagyszabású tesztelést a világon sehol máshol nem indítottak még el – közölte a The Guardian.
A kutatásban 165 egészségügyi intézmény több mint 5000
páciense vesz részt. A projekt elsődleges feladata az egyes gyógyszerek
hatékonysági szintjének értékelése. Egy készítményt 500–900 betegen próbálnak
ki.
A kutatást Peter Horby, az Oxfordi Egyetem professzora, a
fertőző betegségek és globális egészségvédelem szakembere vezeti. A projekt
keretein belül az egészségügyi dolgozók a hidroxiklorokin elnevezésű malária
elleni szert, valamint az azitromicin elnevezésű antibiotikumot tesztelik.
Ezenkívül felvettek a kutatásban szereplő gyógyszerek listájára egy, a
HIV-fertőzött betegeknél használt készítményt, továbbá bővítenék a listát a reumatoid
artritisz autoimmun betegségnél használt egyik gyógyszerrel és a
koronavírus-betegségből kigyógyult betegek vérplazmájával.

Volodimir Zelenszkij ukrán elnök egymillió dollárt ígért a Covid-19-es koronavírus elleni vakcina feltalálójának. Ajánlatát levélben küldte meg az ország tudósainak.
A hírt Viktor Ljasko, Ukrajna tisztifőorvosa, és egyben az
Egészségügyi Minisztérium miniszterhelyettese közölte. „Elárulok egy titkot. Az
elnök megkért, hogy írjak levelet tudósainknak, s azt ígérte, hogy minimum
egymillió dollárban részesíti azt, aki feltalálja a koronavírus elleni vakcinát
vagy gyógyszert” – mondta el.
A tisztifőorvos reményét fejezte ki abban, hogy hamarosan
kifejlesztik a Covid-19 elleni vakcinát.
Az információk szerint az Amerikai Egyesült Államokban már
folyik a védőoltás egereken való tesztelése. Ezenkívül Törökország arról
számolt be, hogy az ott végzett tesztet követően az állatok szervezete elkezdte
termelni az antitesteket a vírus ellen.

Megvan az új típusú koronavírus lehetséges blokkolója – állította Jakob Glanville, egy kaliforniai immunológiai laboratórium alapítója és elnök-vezérigazgatója a Fox televíziónak adott interjújában.
Az interjúban Glanville kifejtette, hogy a laboratóriumban olyan semlegesítő antitesteket állítottak elő, amelyek képesek blokkolni a vírust. „Egy sor szuperhatékony antitestet fejlesztettünk ki, amely blokkolja a vírus felületén lévő tüskéket, így a vírus elveszíti fertőzőképességét” – fogalmazott az immunológus.
A „tüskék” azok a korona alakú kinövések, amelyek a vírus felületén helyezkednek el és a szakértők szerint a vírus ezekkel hatol be az egészséges sejtekbe. A nevét is ezekről a korona alakú „csápokról” kapta.
Glanville doktor azt is elmondta, hogy az Ebola-járvány idején szintén antitestekkel sikerült gátat vetni a betegségnek. Álláspontja szerint az antitest-kezelés fordította meg az Ebola terjedését.
„Az Ebola korábban halálos ítéletet jelentett, a betegségben szenvedők halálozási aránya 50 százalékos volt. Majd amikor a megfelelő semlegesítő antitest-terápia megszületett, a páciensek 94 százaléka meggyógyult” – fogalmazott. Hozzáfűzte, hogy „az Ebola veszedelmes válságból kezelhető betegséggé változott”.
Az orvos – akinek egyébként számítógépes mérnöki végzettsége is van – kifejtette: sok esetben az antitestekkel történő kezelés hatékonyabb, mint a vakcina, mert a vakcinának 6-8 hétre van szüksége a védettség kialakításához, míg az antitest félórán belül hatni kezd. Példaként a légúti óriássejtes vírus (RSV) által okozott betegségek vagy a veszettség kezelését hozta fel.
Leszögezte: „gyorsabban lehet antitestet kifejleszteni, mint vakcinát”. Közölte: reményei szerint az új antitest-kezelést már a nyáron ki lehet próbálni embereken is.
Glanville és munkatársai az eddigi kutatási anyagot átadják az amerikai hadseregnek, a Gates Alapítvány egyik vállalkozásának és néhány magánlaboratóriumnak. Ezek valamennyien tesztelik majd a kifejlesztett antitest hatékonyságát. Az orvos-mérnök Glanville augusztus végére ígérte a terápia forgalomba hozatalát.

Öt francia kórházban kezték meg a tesztelést, de több európai ország is csatlakozott. Ezzel próbálják kúrálni Nizza polgármesterét is.
„A francia egészségügyi minisztérium engedélyezte az elsősorban maláriaellenes hatóanyag, a klorokin tesztelését az új típusú koronavírus esetében„– erősítette meg vasárnap Olivier Véran tárcavezető.
A klorokint elsősorban maláriás betegségek megelőzésére és kezelésére használják, és egy hónapja megosztja a francia orvostársadalmat az a kérdés, hogy hatékony lehet-e a Covid-19 fertőzés kezelésében is.
Franciaország két hét múlva biztos eredményeket tud felmutatni a klorokin hatásait illetően.
Olivier Veran ugyanakkor óva intett a csodavárást illetően:
„Nem lenne felelősségteljes addig kezelésről beszélni, amíg ez hivatalosan nem bizonyított”
A francia egészségügyi kutatóintézet, az Inserm vasárnap európai szintű tesztelést indított Discovery néven, amely négy terápiát tesztel a koronavírus-fertőzés kezelésére, köztük a klorokint.
Belgiumban, Hollandiában, Luxemburgban, az Egyesült Királyságban, Németországban és Spanyolországban összesen 3200 fertőzött, Franciaországban pedig nyolcszáz, Covid-19 fertőzéssel kórházban ápolt beteg vesz részt a tesztelésben.
A tesztelés bejelentése előtt néhány órával Christian Estrosi, Nizza polgármestere – aki fertőzöttként otthoni karanténból irányítja a dél-franciaországi várost – bejelentette, hogy a helyi kórházban már klorokinnal kezelik a koronavírusos betegeket, és ő maga is ilyen kezelés alatt áll.

A Fujifilm Holdings Corp. ugyan egy kamerákról ismert vállalat, de úgy tűnik, hogy rendelkezik gyógyszeripari érdekeltséggel is. A vállalat két influenzagyógyszerként forgalmazott termékének, az Avigannak és a Favipiravirnak egyik összetevőjéből alkotta meg a gyógyszert, mely hatékonynak bizonyult a koronavírussal fertőzött betegek kezelésében a pekingi tudományos és technológiai minisztérium bejelentése szerint.
„Egy nyolcvan betegen Sencsenben végzett klinikai teszten a szerrel kezelt betegek mellékhatások nélkül gyorsabb és eredményesebb gyógyulást mutattak a kontrollcsoportnál.”
– közölte a minisztérium.
Az Avigan és Favipiravir gyógyszereket 2014-ben engedélyezték Japánban.
A Fujifilm a kínai bejelentésre reagálva közölte, hogy nem számít bevételének közvetlen növekedésére, mivel a szóban forgó összetevőre vonatkozó licence tavaly lejárt Kínában.

Egy belga tudós azt állítja, hogy 16 évvel ezelőtti kutatás során eredményesen teszteltek egy gyógyszert koronavírus ellen.
Elképzelhető, hogy már 1934-ben felfedezték a koronavírus ellenszerét, értesült az Euronews, miután a belgiumi Leuveni Katolikus Egyetem egyik professzorával készítettek interjút. Marc van Ranst virológus 2004-ben tagja volt annak a kutatócsoportnak, amely az 1934 óta ismert klorokin (chloroquine) nevű, rendkívül olcsó gyógyszert tesztelték eredményesen a SARS vírusa ellen. Mivel azonban akkor a SARS-járvány már lefutott, embereken nem tudták kipróbálni, ezért tudományos szaklapokban publikálták kutatásaikat. Van Ranst professzor azt mondja, hogy a SARS és a mostani járványt okozó COVID-19 is egyfajta koronavírus, ezért könnyen lehet, hogy alkalmas a klorokin a gyógyítására. Arra is felhívja a figyelmet, hogy mielőtt méregdrága ellenanyagot fejlesztenének ki, mindenképpen érdemes tesztelni a klorokint, sőt, tudomása szerint a kínai tudósok már neki is láttak ennek a 2004-ben publikált eredmények alapján.
