A The Washington Post bejelentette, hogy egyik elnökjelöltet sem támogatja. A vezérigazgató szerint a döntés „visszatérés a gyökerekhez”, William Lewis szerint az újság a jövőben is így jár majd el. Ez a lépés szakít a több évtizedes hagyománnyal, a lap az 1970-es évek óta a legtöbb elnökválasztás alkalmával támogatta az egyik jelöltet – aki minden esetben a demokrata jelölt volt, írja a BBC.
A Los Angeles Times múlt héten jelentette be hasonló döntését, a lap eredetileg azt tervezte, hogy Kamala Harris demokrata elnökjelöltet támogatja, de a tervet a lap milliárdos tulajdonosa, Patrick Soon-Shiong megakadályozta.
A The Washington Post esetében két forrás is azt állítja, hogy a szerkesztőség munkatársai Harrist támogatták volna, de ezt még nem hozták nyilvánosságra. Ugyanezen források szerint a támogatás közzétételének elmaradásáról a lap tulajdonosa, az Amazon alapítója, Jeff Bezos döntött.

Március 15-én kezdődött meg a háromnapos elnökválasztás Oroszországban, és országszerte több mint 94 ezer szavazóhelyiséget nyitottak meg, amelyekben helyi idő szerint reggel nyolctól este nyolcig lehet szavazni. Már az első napon számos helyen megzavarták a voksolást, míg az utolsó napot inkább a békés demonstráció jellemezte.
A szentpétervári Krasznogvardejszkij kerület egyik lakója unokájával együtt ment el szavazni az Oroszországi Föderáció elnökválasztására. A szavazásra magával vitte háziállatát − egy Csunecska nevű vadászgörényt − is, jelentette a kerületi közigazgatás sajtószolgálata.
A legszokatlanabb vendég érkezett a szentpétervári Krasznogvardejszkij kerület szavazóhelyiségébe. Egy Chunechka nevű vadászgörény. A háziállat gazdája a nagymamájával jött szavazni, és nem tehetett mást, mint hogy magával vitte szőrös családtagját. A fiú azt mondta, hogy amikor betölti a 18. életévét, ő is részt fog venni a választásokon − tájékoztat a hivatal a Telegram-csatornáján.

Igazi bohóckodás Burjátföldön, ahol egy óriási vaddisznó is szavazott.

Perm városában egy robotot utasítottak ki egy szavazóhelyiségből.
Kaluga régió környezetvédelmi minisztériumának egyik tisztviselője így jelent meg a szavazáson.
Pókember megérkezett a szavazásra a szibériai Kuzbassz szénbányászati régiójában.
A külföldi helyszíneket nem számítva a választások Oroszországban vasárnap este, moszkvai idő szerint 21 órakor érnek véget a kalinyingrádi régióban lévő szavazóhelyiségek bezárásával.
Azonban már a szavazás első napján számos helyen megzavarták a voksolást: néhány szavazóurnába festéket öntöttek, de arra is volt példa, hogy megpróbálták felgyútjani, felrobbantani ezeket. Vasárnapra, a választás utolsó napjára pedig az orosz ellenzék 12:00-ra hirdette meg a „Délben Putyin ellen” akciót, amelynek lényege, hogy mindenki, aki Putyin ellen foglal állást, egyszerre, azonos napon, azonos időben jelenik meg a szavazófülkék előtt. Emiatt hosszú sorok alakultak ki a budapesti Orosz Kulturális Központ épülete előtt.

A Twitter törli az elnöki fiók követőit, mielőtt a Biden-adminisztráció hozzáférhet az elnöki profilhoz így Donald Trump több millió követője megy a levesbe. Az index.hu cikkében azt írta, Joe Biden csapata ugyan a felszínen harcolt az intézkedés ellen, de a közösségi média óriása leszögezte, hogy egyértelmű döntésről van szó. Ez jelentős változás 2016-hoz képest, amikor a Twitter még beleegyezett Donald Trump kérésébe, hogy az akkor az új elnök örökölje Barack Obama követőinek millióit. Az első hallásra furcsának tűnő döntést Rebecca Lodge, a Start Up Disruptors marketingszakértője azzal magyarázta, hogy mivel Trump követőinek nagy része fanatikus, a Twitter így próbálja megvédeni az új elnököt a negatív kommentektől.

A Twitter döntése néhány nappal azután lép hatályba, hogy Jack Dorsey vezérigazgató számos politikai személyiség követését felfüggesztette a platformon, köztük Trumpot, Joe Bident és Kamala Harris leendő alelnököt. November 3-án rendezik az elnökválasztást az Amerikai Egyesült Államokban. A republikánusok és a demokraták előválasztásának eredménye alapján Donald Trump jelenlegi államfő kihívója Joe Biden, Delaware állam szenátora, Barack Obama korábbi alelnöke lesz. Több cikkben is ecseteltük már mennyire kiélezett hangulatú a kampány az USA-ban, s ebből kiindulva semmi jóra nem számítanak.
Eltünteti az eladótérből a fegyvereket és a lőszert az amerikai WalMart szupermarketlánc – adta hírül a CBS News. A vállalat azzal indokolta a döntést, hogy a közeljövőben előfordulhatnak zavargások és fosztogatások, így a vásárlók és a dolgozók biztonsága védelmében jobb, ha nincsenek pisztolyok és puskák a polcokon.
A bolthálózat júniusban is ilyen lépésre kényszerült, akkor a George Floyd meggyilkolása miatt kirobbant zavargások nyomán szedték be a lőfegyvereket az eladótérből. Ezt az intézkedést egy hónappal később visszavonták, és akkor csak a lázongások helyszínén volt érvényben. Most az egész országra vonatkozik az óvintézkedés.
Ennek alapján úgy tűnik, hogy a hálózat arra számít, az elnökválasztás után zavargások robbanhatnak ki.
A WalMartban ettől még továbbra is kapható lesz pisztoly és puska, csak biztonságosabban tárolják őket, és nem lesznek szem előtt. A cég csaknem ötezer áruházat üzemeltet az Egyesült Államokban.

A mikroblog-szolgáltató pénteken bejelentette, hogy a választások előtt blokkolni fogja a politikusok félrevezetőnek ítélt bejegyzéseinek újraküldését, és kiszélesíti a megjelölt bejegyzések körét. A félrevezető információként megjelölt bejegyzések körét kiterjesztik nemcsak a politikusokra, hanem kampányaik munkatársaira is.
A hivatalos blogban a Twitter leszögezte: az intézkedések célja a bejegyzések újraküldésére vonatkozó megfontoltabb döntések bátorítása. Megnehezítik a bejegyzések kommentár nélküli továbbküldését, arra ösztökélve a felhasználókat, hogy fűzzék hozzá a saját véleményüket is. A platform nem engedi meg senkinek – köztük politikusoknak sem –, hogy bárkinek a győzelmét nyilvánosságra hozzák a választások hivatalos eredménye előtt. A választási folyamatot befolyásolni próbáló bejegyzéseket pedig eltávolítják. A félrevezető információként megjelölt bejegyzések körét kiterjesztik nemcsak a politikusokra, hanem kampányaik munkatársaira is.
A Twitter vezérigazgatója, Jack Dorsey és a Facebook vezetője, Mark Zuckerberg néhány héten belül a szenátus kereskedelmi bizottsága előtti meghallgatáson vesz részt, hogy számot adjon eddigi üzletpolitikájáról és döntései hátteréről. A szenátusi bizottság azt az 1996-ban hozott törvényt vizsgálja, amely mentességet ad e közösségi platformoknak a publikált tartalmak miatti jogi felelősségre vonás alól.
