Állami és tiszteletbeli kitüntetéseket adott át Volodimir Zelenszkij ukrán elnök május 6-án a gyalogság napja alkalmából. Az államfő az Ukrajna Hőse posztumusz címet adományozta Szerhij Szircsenkónak és Valerij Hlebovnak – számolt be a Szabad Európa Rádió.







Ukrajna most sokkal erősebb, mint tavaly vagy a hazánk szabadságáért és függetlenségéért vívott háború bármely más évében – jelentette ki az ukrán elnök az ünnepségen.



Az 56. különleges gépesített dandár parancsnoka, Szerhij Szircsenko ezredes 2014 és 2018 között részt vett a luhanszki és donyecki területek fegyveres agressziójának elhárításában. A február 24-én kezdődött háború első napján hatékony felderítést szervezett, ami lehetővé tette a megbízható védelem biztosítását a dandár felelősségi területén. Harci feladatokat hajtott végre a Zaporizzsjai területen, a Donyecki területen, különösen Vuhledar és Bahmut körzetében.



Zelenszkij átadta az Aranycsillagot a gépesített gyalogosszázad parancsnokának, Valerij Hlebov századosnak, akit posztumusz Ukrajna Hőse címmel tüntettek ki. Az elismerést Hlebov lánya vette át.



Valerij Hlebov 2015 és 2021 között az Izjum szektorban tartotta a frontvonal egy szakaszát, és támadó műveleteket hajtott végre, később pedig sikeresen megszervezte a védelmet Bahmutnál. A százados 2022. november végén halt meg Bahmut városában, ahol egy aknavető-támadásban halálosan megsebesült.
