Aranyat, ékszereket és egyéb, több mint 1 millió dollárt meghaladó értékű kincsesládát talált egy férfi az Egyesült Államokban, Új-Mexikó állam területén, a Sziklás-hegységben elrejtve, tudósít a CNN. Egy dúsgazdag régiséggyűjtő, Forrest Fenn ugyanis több mint egy évtizede bronzládát rejtett el a hegységben, sőt kincsvadászatot hirdetett.
A milliomos régiséggyűjtő, Forrest Fenn 2010-ben hirdette meg a kincskereső akcióját egy arannyal, ékszerekkel és egyéb értékekkel teli láda után. Ő maga költött egy verset The Thrill of the Chase címmel, amiben utalásokat tett a kincs hollétéről.
Emberek százezrei eredtek a kincs nyomába, sokan kiléptek a munkahelyükről és és a kincsvadászattal felélték összes addigi megtakarításukat. Legalább négy ember halt meg a Sziklás-hegységben, emiatt egyébként korábban már Új-Mexikó állam rendőrfőnöke felszólította Forrest Fennt, hogy vessen véget az általa meghirdetett kincsvadászatnak.
A régiségkereskedő nem tette, most viszont bejelentette, hogy egy „keleti ember” végre helyesen követte a nyomokat.
„A Sziklás-hegység buja, erdős növényzetének lombkoronája alatt volt, és nem mozdult el arról a pontról, ahová több mint tíz évvel ezelőtt elrejtettem” – mondta a most 89 éves Fenn a weboldalán tett nyilatkozatában.
Hozzátette, hogy nem ismeri az embert, aki megtalálta, de egy 24 soros verse, a 2010. évi önéletrajzában, a The Thrill of the Chase vezette a pontos helyre a megtalálót, tehát kincsvadászról, nem pedig a vakszerencse fiáról van szó.
Fenn a helyi, Santa Fe-i újságnak azt is elmondta, hogy a férfi nem akarja, hogy a nevét nyilvánosságra hozzák, de egy fénykép elküldésével bizonyította számára, hogy megtalálta a ládát. A ritka aranyérmék és antik ékszerek mellett a milliomos elmondása szerint a mintegy 9 kilogrammos kincsesládát a Kolumbusz-korszak előtti állati figurákkal, az őskori kalapácsos arany „tükrökkel” és jádeból faragott ősi kínai arcokkal díszíttette, így az önmagában is rendkívüli érték.
Arra a kérdésre, hogy érezte magát a kincs megtalálásáról, Fenn azt mondta a lapnak: „Nem tudom, félig örülök, félig szomorúnak érzem magam, hogy a hajsza véget ért.”
