Egy belga kiberbiztonsági kutató és hacker, Lennert Wouters a Las Vegasban megrendezett Black Hat biztonsági konferencián mutatta be, hogyan sikerült feltörnie a Starlink hálózatát, azt a műholdas rendszert, amit az Elon Musk-féle SpaceX üzemeltet – írta erről a Wired.
A támadó – aki nem a rendszerben lévő adatok megszerzése miatt követte el cselekményét – egy 25 dolláros szerkezettel jutott be a Starlink rendszerébe. Ezt ő maga építette meg a webről megrendelt eszközökből.
A hibák után kutató szakember, a KU Leuven cég munkatársa a Githubon közzétett dokumentációban részletesen is bemutatta, milyen rést talált a Starlink rendszerében, és hogy az milyen támadásokra alkalmas. Állította, hogy a hiba tetszőleges kódfuttatást is lehetővé tesz, amivel további károk okozhatók.
A szakértő a SpaceX-et is tájékoztatta a feltárt sebezhetőségről, amit a cég mostanra – legalábbis elmondásuk szerint – szoftveres frissítéssel javított.
