Olekszandr Szirszkij vezérezredes, a szárazföldi erők parancsnoka március 5-én ismét Bahmutba látogatott, ahol megszemlélte a várost védő ukrán egységek állásait – adta hírül hétfőn az rbc.ua hírportál a Military Media Center Telegram-csatornára hivatkozva.
A jelentés szerint látogatását követően a tábornok elmondta, hogy a Bahmutért folyó csaták a legmagasabb feszültségszintet értek el. „Az ellenség további Wagner-erőket vetett harcba. Katonáink bátran védik pozícióikat Bahmut északi részén, és megpróbálják megakadályozni a város bekerítését” – tette hozzá.
A vezérezredes megjegyezte, hogy az ukrán csapatok ellenállása ezen a hídfőn már hónapok óta tart. „Egész idő alatt az ellenségnek a város elfoglalására tett kísérleteit a katonáink ellenálló képessége legyőzte. Védőink jelentős veszteségeket okoztak az ellenségnek, nagy mennyiségű felszerelést megsemmisítettek, harcba kényszerítették a Wagner-csoport legjobb támadóegységeit, és csökkentették az ellenség támadóképességét” – mutatott rá Olekszandr Szirszkij.
