A Hyundai és a Kia csaknem 500 000 autótulajdonost figyelmeztetett az Egyesült Államokban, hogy lehetőleg az épületeken kívül és azoktól távol parkoljanak, miután egy lehetséges meghibásodás miatt a jármű spontán kigyulladhat, még akkor is, ha nem jár a motor – írja a CNN.
A probléma az, hogy „idegen szennyeződések” miatt az ABS vezérlőmodulja rövidzárlatot okozhat, aminek következtében tűz üthet ki a motortérben. A Hyundai összesen 357 830, míg a Kia 126 747 járművet hív vissza a meghibásodás veszélye miatt.
A kereskedők megvizsgálják és szükség esetén ingyenesen kicserélik a járművek ABS rendszerét, illetve kicserélik azt a biztosítékot is, amely a fékvezérlő egység elektromos áram-ellátottságát szabályozza. Az új biztosíték csökkenti a modulba jutó áram mennyiségét.
Az amerikai közlekedésbiztonsági hivatalhoz benyújtott dokumentumban a Kia azt írta, hogy eddig három olyan járműről tudnak, amelyek kigyulladtak. Azoktól a Kia tulajdonosoktól, akik úgy gondolják, hogy járművük érintett lehet, azt kérik: vegyék fel a kapcsolatot valamelyik Kia márkakereskedéssel, illetve a vállalat ügyfélszolgálati részlegével.
