Kijevben megkezdték az előkészületeket arra, hogy a Haza Anyácska szobron a 13×8 méteres sarló-kalapácsos szovjet címert Ukrajna háromágú szigonyt ábrázoló címerére cseréljék.
Az ukrán kulturális minisztérium szerdán a Telegramon közzétett videófelvételen mutatta be, hogyan zajlik a kezében kardot és pajzsot tartó monumentális nőalak megújulása.
Hatvankét méteres magasságával ez Európa legmagasabb szobra, és 16 méterrel magasabb, mint a New York-i Szabadság-szobor. Az emlékmű teljes magassága a talapzattal együtt 102 méter, súlya csaknem 500 tonna.
A pajzsra kerülő ukrán címer „európai fémből” készül egy kijevi üzemben, mert a Zaporizzsjében lévő Zaporizssztal acélgyár által küldött minta „nem felelt meg a műszaki követelményeknek” – közölte a minisztérium.
A projekt költsége 28 millió hrivnya, azaz körülbelül 260 millió forint. A minisztérium szerint az összes pénzt adományozók biztosítják, az állami költségvetésből egy fillért sem költenek a címercserére.
Azt tervezik, hogy augusztus 24-ig, Ukrajna függetlenségének 32. évfordulójáig elkészülnek a Kijev meghatározó városképi elemének számító szobor felújításával.
Egy tavaly júliusi internetes felmérésben az ukránok többsége – 85 százaléka – vélte úgy, hogy a fővárosi Haza Anyácska emlékmű pajzsán a szovjet szimbólumot fel kell cserélni az ukrán címerre.
